Chapter Text

Akito loves watching horror movies. He loves the thrill and anticipation he feels, the mystery of who dies and who lives. He loves other movie genres too of course, but he hasn't seen it in a lot of non horror movies that you couldn't tell if all the main characters would live. Obviously, there are movies where a main character dies but it's usually more obvious who it'll be than in horror. When he was younger, not that young, more highschool age, Ena and Mizuki would sometimes watch movies together. Ena never wanted to watch horror movies, but sometimes Mizuki won out and they watched them anyway. It's how Akito got introduced to them. And he loved them. Before all he had seen were the movies coming on TV and the ones Ena had bought, not to be that guy, but those hadn't really been his thing.

Sure at first he'd been scared watching them, but it was kind of like going on a huge rollercoaster ride to him. He'd be scared at first, but once he got off, he'd be happy he'd done it. Most of all he loves watching them with other people. He doesn't know why, but when watching them with others it's almost like they affect each other and make the tension so much higher and the happiness that follows from watching the movie so much bigger.

Rui also loves watching horror movies. He likes seeing the different directional choices, how the same concept can end in so many different movies. Granted that can be said about most movies, but horror was something so different from the things he usually does that he can't help but be fascinated. He, however, does not like watching them with others as much. People who were scared and yelling could get really annoying and make his ears hurt. Sometimes the noise even overpowered the sounds from the movie and what was the point of that? He'd been hesitant when Akito had asked him to watch a horror movie together for the first time, but he'd come to love it, even more than watching them alone.

They're watching another movie tonight. Rui gets all the blankets they have (yes all of them, including the super warm ones meant for very cold winter nights) and Akito makes popcorn. Sweet obviously. When everything is set up Rui turns off all the lights and starts the movie. The beginning is a little slow for Rui’s taste, but it soon picks up, drawing him in. And then his favorite part comes.

Akito, despite how much he loves horror movies, is not particularly good with them. He likes to pretend he is, but he's usually the first person to get scared. Rui thinks it's cute.

Akito curls up in all the blankets, pulling them up all the way to his nose. When Akito can't take the anticipation anymore, he curls up against Rui, hiding his face in Rui’s side. Rui brushes a hand through his hair, making Akito jump a little at the sudden contact, but he quickly relaxes into it. Sometimes this is enough for Akito to look at the movie again, but sometimes the sound effects scare him so much that Rui has to keep it up throughout the whole movie. Like this time.

When the movie is over, Akito continues to cling to him and he chuckles. Rui carefully extracts them both from beneath all the blankets, tells Akito to grab one of them, then lifts him up. Akito wraps his legs around him and he slowly gets them over to their bedroom. There he drops Akito on the bed, getting pulled along with him, since Akito refuses to let go. Rui smiles. Truly, very cute.
