Work Text:
Marc looked up from his book upon hearing the knock at his window. He practically jumped out of his seat and rushed over, a new habit ever since Ladybug had started recruiting him for akuma attacks. His hands fumbled with the curtains as he yanked them back, beaming up at the hero perched on his balcony, hand outstretched with the rooster miraculous.
He hurried to put it on and transform (along with greeting Orikko, of course), following Ladybug through the city. As they jumped and ran over rooftops, Rooster Bold's brows furrowed as he glanced around. "Where's the akuma?"
"No akuma this time," Ladybug explained, slowing to a stop on an empty building, glancing around to make sure nobody was around. Rooster Bold landed behind her with a curious cock of his head.
"What did you need me for then?"
Ladybug turned to him, deadly serious.
"I need you to find Shadow Moth."
Rooster Bold's breath caught in his throat, before he immediately staretd stammering, "B-But I don't know where he is! And I don't have any idea where to start looking!"
Ladybug held up a hand to stop his rambling, "I know." She gave him a determined grin, "That's where Sublimation comes in."
He gasped, the pieces connecting in his brain, "You want me to choose the power to track where he is so we can hunt him down!"
Ladybug nodded, "You can do whatever you want. I figured it was time we took advantage of that."
Rooster Bold mirrored her action, feeling a similar determination spread throughout his entire body. He was going to be the reason Hawkmoth was defeated. He and his friends would never have to worry about supressing their negative emotions again!
With that passion running through him, he called out, "Sublimation!"
Both him and Ladybug yelped as a large, red, glowing X appeared in the sky next to them, flashing for a few seconds before fading away.
"W-What was that?" Ladybug asked, sounding the most uncertain that he had ever heard from her.
Rooster Bold blinked at the spot where the symbol previously was, just as confused. Maybe he was thinking of something else and that was messing with Sublimation? Did he need to say it out loud like with Penalteam?
"I give myself the ability to find Shadow Moth!"
Again, the X appeared, this time with a loud buzzing sound, akin to one that would sound during a game show to signify when a contestant's answer was wrong. They covered their ears until it vanished again.
"What?! Are you telling me I'm not allowed to?!" Rooster Bold spat out, a mixture of frustration and bafflement in his tone. "Sublimation literally lets me do anything ! Why not this?!"
The cartoon you two are in would end too fast if you could find Shadowmoth this way lol
Those were the words that appeared instead of the X. The same color. The same font. The same size. But a totally different relevation for them.
"Cartoon?!" Ladybug shrieked, eyes wide. Rooster Bold couldn't even respond, in a similar state of shock.

Bunnix sighed as she rewinded the time stream, going back to before Marinette had even reached Marc's house. She stepped through the portal, directly into Ladybug's path, "Hey."
Ladybug screeched to a halt on the roof, eyes wide, "Bunnix? Is something wrong?"
"Yeah, your plan to find Hawkmoth with Rooster Bold to be exact."
The heroine seemed shocked, "What happens?!"
Bunnix winced, "It's better if you don't know."
Ladybug bit her lip, before sighing, "If you had to come to stop me, it must be pretty bad. I'll head back home then." She waved goodbye to Bunnix before swinging away back to the bakery.
Bunnix only walked back into the burrow after she can't see her anymore, sighing as she runs a hand through her hair.
It was hard work trying to keep the fact they're just characters in a TV show a secret. But she'd rather go through all this trouble than let this information get out.
