Darren saw the text after they left the party and immediately went to Quinni's house. The message itself had been pretty vague, a simple Please come over when you can, but it was enough to make them concerned.
They entered her room and took a deep breath as they looked around. The room wasn't in chaos or anything, but there were enough disheveled blankets to confirm that she'd definitely had a meltdown, and the way she was curled in the corner with a blank expression, petting her frog solidified that fact.
They sat nearby her, not too close but close enough to where she knew they were there. The pair sat like that for a little bit before Quinni eventually pulled out her phone, shooting them a text. She couldn't find her voice at that moment, but Darren didn't mind. I don't think Sasha wants the trouble of dealing with me
Darren looked up at her with a frown. "Can I sit by you?" they asked, getting a nod in response before repositioning themself so they were sitting next to the girl. The frog looked at them with curiosity before returning its attention to its owner. "What makes you say that?"
...Can we please just hang out? I don't want to think about it right now
"Okay" Darren agreed with a small smile and a nod. "D'you wanna tidy up a bit? Maybe put up that photo you got" they pointed to the photograph of Quinni and the author that lay on her side table. "If you find your voice again, you could read me some of that new book, or I could read it to you"
Quinni smiled before sending another text. I'd like that
