Adventures in Turtlesitting

Summary:

”Now…” Donnie took his arm off of Mikey and moved over to the control panel by the teleportation device. “…time for a test run.”

”Are you sure this is safe?” The purple-clad turtle turns to his brother in annoyance. “I’m meaning if it hasn’t been tested yet then…”

A laugh escaped the inventor as his attention turned back to his machine. “Ah, Leon, that’s why I test my inventions. It may be still in beta, but where’s the joy in not testing it out.”

This didn’t dissipate the unease coursing through Leo’s body as he watched his brother boot up the teleporter.

Or during an exercise to test a new invention; the ROTTMNT versions of Leonardo, Donatello and Michelangelo are transported to another dimension; leaving Raphael, Splinter and April back home.

Chapter 1: Dimensional Distance

Notes:

After I watched the RISE TMNT film it got me wanting to rewatch the 03 series which I grew up with. I actually wasn't able to catch the RISE series as it aired as I don't have Nickelodeon, but the movie made me curious and want to watch it, so I'll have to find it someplace else.

The title is based on the Episode aptly named 'Adventures in Turtlesitting' from season four of the 03 series until I can think of something better and also due to the fact the 03 turtles will technically be looking after the RISE turtles until they can get them home.

This is my first TMNT story, so I'm not used to writing the characters yet or at all, especially since I'm doing a crossover first. But usually it goes the more you write a certain character the more you'll understand them. So, sorry if the characters appear OOC at first it’ll just be that I’ll be trying to get into the groove of writing them.

Also, this is set a little after the episode 'Hunted' in the 2003 show while with RISE it's set after a month from the end of season 2. I have yet to finish RISE, but I know Leo becomes the leader then which is why I wanted it set before the movie. From what I've seen I already know bits and pieces of the RISE universe, but this mainly takes place in the 03 universe.

Hope you enjoy!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Universe Two-Zero-One-Eight - Donatello’s Lab - Midday

Under the sunny, midday streets of New York; in the sewers was where four turtles and rat lived. Right now three of said turtles were standing within a purple-themed lab. There was a large machine in the corner of the lab that had their full attention which hadn’t been there a few days prior. It was circular in appearance with a hole through its centre and a control panel to the side of it.

The turtle in the blue mask, eyed the machine with a curious eye yet also seemed unsure about it. The one in the orange mask stared at it in awe; eyes blown wide.

“Donnie, what exactly is this thing?”

“Of course you’d be the one to ask such a ridiculous question, Nardo,” Donnie replied, rolling his eyes at his brother’s question.

”Hey, I have a reason to wonder what this thing is,” Leo snapped back, folding his arms across his plastron.

A sigh left the inventor of the three as he turned away from admiring his machine to face his brother. “It’s a teleportation device.”

”A what?” Leo exclaimed, blinking several times.

Donnie let out another sigh and was about to respond when Leo waved his hands at his brother.

”It was….” He stopped, thinking for a moment. “….rhetorical.” Donnie raised one drawn on eyebrow at his older twin. “And anyways we already have my swords for teleporting. Why do we need this?” He gestured towards the machine.

”Well…” Donnie breathed in through his mouth. “…it’s in case of emergencies. If we’re in a fight and you’re incapacitated this is a way we can make a quick retreat without the use of your swords.”

“Come on!” Leo chuckled, placing a hand on his hip. “I’ve never been unconscious during a fight!”

Donnie’s brow lifted further.

His brother wasn’t serious, was he?

He had to be joking.

”I think it’s a great idea, D!” The orange-clad turtle exclaimed, turning to the two older turtles.

“Why thank you, Angelo!” Donnie threw his arm over the youngest turtle’s shell. His gaze narrowing at Leo. “At least someone here admires my genius.”

Leo just blows a raspberry back, rolling his eyes at his brother’s attitude.

The praise caused the shortest of the turtles to beam, showing off his tooth gap.

He noticed Mikey was quite close to Donnie and the machine, grabbing hold of his younger brother’s arm and pulling him back in case something went wrong.

The younger turtle whined, but Leo still held him behind his shell.

Leo loved his brother, but sometimes the countless amounts of inventions he makes can be a bit daunting.

He didn’t know if his other brothers felt the same.

They encouraged it.

He encouraged Donnie as well, but sometimes what his brother creates maybe should stay as a sketch on a blueprint.

They really didn’t need another Shelldon fiasco. Sure, it was partly their fault for messing with the wiring, but it showed how Donnie’s machines can easily turn on him.

And that’s not a great thought considering how much he makes.

They don’t need a Terminator to come save them yet.

His attention was caught by the machine lighting up with a bright white-blue glow. It looked almost like the portals he can create with his swords.

”Ha! See.” Donnie turned around, grinning triumphantly. “It works perfectly fine.”

It was faint, but Leo saw a spark in the corner of his eye from the machine.

That wasn’t good.

Whenever something sparks it’s never a good sign.

Then suddenly it started spazzing out.

Bright white-blue electrical currents hit on anything metal. That included Donnie’s inventions and his battle-shell. The shock from the machine burned through his metal shell partway, but due to him wearing it he still felt every part of the shock.

”DONNIE!” Leo and Mikey cried out as their brother collapsed to the lab floor.

Leo tried to reach his brother, but the bolts of lightning were in his way.

He couldn’t get to his unconscious and possibly injured brother.

He felt something hugging the side of his plastron and looked down to see that it was Mikey.

He could the youngest of their team was terrified.

Not just for them, but for Donnie.

Leo tried to slowly edge towards his unconscious brother, trying to avoid any electrical bolts coming his and Mikey’s way. It was hard process as they were nearly hit a few times, causing Mikey to yell and cling to Leo more. As soon as he was at Donnie’s side he took a look at his brother’s battle-shell noting how the top half was sparking and the wiring was sticking out.

Leo let out a sigh in relief.

It hadn’t reached his brother’s shell.

Who knows what damage a shock like that would do to his brother’s softshell.

However Donnie still received a nasty shock from wearing said device in the vicinity of a malfunctioning machine.

That he created….

Leo reached his hands towards the battle-shell wanting to remove it, so that it wouldn’t harm his brother even more in their current situation.

However, his hands grasped air.

”Uh, Leo…” Mikey spoke up and Leo looked up from Donnie’s prone form. His brother was pointing out how they were in the air.

The slider’s eyes widened; turning to look over at the portal, noting how the electricity has calmed down for the moment. But he did notice how they were slowly approaching the portal while in the air.

”That’s not good…” He muttered out.

That was the last thing he was able to get out before the portal’s wind velocity increased, caused the three to be sucked into the portal before the light slowly died down.

The noises caused someone to poke his red-bandana bound head into the lab, frowning when he saw that no one was in there.

”Guys?”

Universe Two-Zero-Zero-Three - Abandoned Warehouse - Night

There was shuffling inside an old abandoned warehouse with an assortment of boxes and vehicles inside of it. One of which was more distinguishable from the others; appearing like a military-grade vehicle when it was actually just an armored van.

Another orange-bandana wearing turtle was carrying some boxes around the warehouse. He moved the boxes over to a corner area, grumbling under his breath.

”Mikey clean the warehouse. You don’t do any chores. It’s an easy job even for you,” He mumbled under his breath.

He put the boxes down and groaned.

”Please, tell me that’s the last one…” He turned around, stretching and letting out a long yawn. “Time for some shut-eye….”

He headed over to where their main vehicle; the battle-shell was and waited for the elevator to come up for him. A light caught his eye from the corner of his eye, turning his head towards it.

”What the shell…” He stared with wide eyes as a giant portal opened up and spat out a turtle with a purple bandana and a sparking, broken metal shell.

Michelangelo approached the unconscious turtle, looking him over before hearing the hum of the elevator that allowed him entry back into the lair.

He let out a groan. “The others are gonna kill me, but…” He looked at the turtle again. “…I can’t just leave him like this.”

He slowly, lifted the turtle into his arms and went into the elevator that led down into the lair. He took in a deep breath, getting ready for the lecture he was sure to receive from his brothers, especially Leonardo and Raphael.

The doors opened and he stepped out; noting how his brothers didn’t look up from what they were currently doing.

Leonardo was meditating on the mat in the middle of the large room.

Raphael was at his punching bag to the side.

And Donatello was at his lab nearby the TVs, working on something.

”Did you finish up already, Mikey?” Donatello asked, lifting up his goggles to lift his gaze fully to his brother. He was caught off-guard when he saw what his brother was holding.

”Um … kinda…” He shrugged, being carefully of the injured turtle he was currently holding.

”What does that mean?” Raphael asked, stopping to turn around. He also stared, but was able to catch himself quicker than his purple brother. “Oh shell no! No strays, Mikey! We already have that cat!”

This made Leonardo open an eye and glance over at his youngest brother.

“Come on, guys. He’s injured.”

”He could be working for Hun or the Shredder!”

”Mikey, you can’t just bring a random turtle down here,” Leonardo spoke up, sighing.

“Dudes, he appeared from a portal and was completely passed out!” Michelangelo exclaimed, hoping a little more information would lessen his brothers worries. “He’s also injured!”

Donatello frowned when he heard this. “Mikey, can you bring him over here. I wanna take a quick look at him.”

”What?!”

”We don’t know how bad his injury is and I don’t want to be at fault if he dies,” Donatello told his brothers as Michelangelo brought the unconscious turtle over to the lab.

Raphael growled and went back to his punching bag.

Leonardo shook his head, closing his eyes to get back to meditating. “Master Splinter won’t like this.”

”I know…” Donatello said as Michelangelo lay the turtle on a cleared metal table.

The purple-bandana wearing turtle looked the other one over, checking his pupils and for any injuries that he might have. Donatello turned him over and noticed the metallic-like shell on his back that was sparking with wires poking out of it. He thought to take it off, but then thought against it. There must be a reason why this turtle has a metal shell covering his real one.

”I can’t see any injuries, but it appears this metal shell he’s wearing is damaged. I can’t determine the cause though,” Donatello explained to his brother.

Michelangelo nodded his head at his brother’s explanation.

”So, he's fine then?” Raphael spoke up, causing the two to turn to him.

Donatello shook his head. “No. There’s a reason why he’s unconscious and his metal shell is damaged the way it is.”

Raphael groaned at this information. “Don’t tell me he’s staying the night?”

”We don’t have a choice. We can’t kick him out when he’s still unconscious like this.”

Donatello understood why Raphael was so on edge with a strange turtle showing up in their lair thanks to Michelangelo.

After everything they’d been through he couldn’t blame Raphael or Leonardo for being a bit uneasy.

A sigh left the blue-bandana wearing turtle as he got up off the mat he had been meditating on. “I’ll go tell Master Splinter.”

”That’s great! I’ll go get him a bed ready!”

”Ah, Mikey, wait….!” Donatello tried to stop his brother, but he had already run off. The inventor sighed, facepalming. His gaze drifted to the unconscious turtle through his fingers. “This is going to be a long night…”

Notes:

I will just put down here of what the turtles from both universes that have appeared will be called. It’s shown pretty clearly already in the first chapter, but to avoid confusion I’ll just write it down here as well.
