Everyone said Hannah was mad for buying an old pirate ship, barely seaworthy and rumored to be haunted, but Hannah had never cared what people thought, and the harbormaster was happy to take her inheritance without asking questions.
She hired an agreeable crew to help her repair and sail The Revenge, and her modest shipping venture was launched.
And if sometimes the scent of lavender hung in the air where it should not, or moonlight illuminated a trace of two men on the forecastle laughing, or embracing, or just quietly talking, she felt charmed to witness such a gentle haunting.
