Sidon has officially lost track of Link.
This isn’t always unusual, as Link likes to jump between him and Zelda, or hides in a corner while he drinks. But Zelda wasn’t able to make it to this celebration due to some diplomacy problems with the Gordon’s, so Link had been stuck to Sidon’s side most of the night.
Except two hours ago, Ledo pulled Link away from Sidon with the promise that he would take good care of him. He took him into the crowd and he hasn’t been able to find the duo since.
It’s not that he’s worried. He trusts Ledo, and Bazz always keeps a good watch to make sure nothing happens. Sidon would like to see his husband though.
The night is starting to wind down, and he wants to go lay down. It’s been a long few weeks preparing for this event, and Sidon was tired, a little cranky, and just wanted to cuddle Link in bed. He just couldn’t find him.
“Ex—excuuse me?“ Speak of the calamity.
Sidon turns around to see his husband staring up at him, smile on his face. He was rocking in place, feet stumbling as he tries to keep his footing while he stares up at Sidon’s face.
Is Link wasted ?
“Link! There you are!” Sidon smiled brightly, squatting down so his husband didn’t have to strain his neck as much. “I’ve been looking for you!”
“I-I’ve been looking fooor you!” Link slurred. Link moved to get closer to Sidon, but tripped over his own feet.
Too drunk to catch himself, he started falling forward towards the ground and Sidon dove forward to catch him. He caught him under his arms and pulled him close to his chest, holding him tight.
“Link, how much did you drink?” He fretted. Link hiccuped and shook his head.
“Nothing! I’m..I’m suuuuper sober!”
Sidon let out a laugh, shaking his head. “You are certainly not sober, darling!” On top of not being able to even walk, he is also much more vocal than usual. Even when everyone will be too drunk to really pay attention to his voice, Link still prefers sign language when in large groups. He doesn’t like the questions on why his voice is scratchy and doesn’t work, especially because he doesn’t 100% know the answer.
Sidon stands up and cradles Link to his chest—Link’s favorite way to be held, even if he will deny it to the bitter end. Link laughed as they stood up, placing his hand on Sidon’s chest and laying his head against his shoulder.
“You-“ Another hiccup. “You’re very handsome.”
“I can say the same for you.”
“Wanna go…go out with me?” Sidon’s eyes widened at Link’s question. Go out with him? As in date?
Oh no. Is it normal for Hylians to lose their memory when drinking? Should he be worried?
However, this is a rare moment of calm and boldness that Link never shows. It is usually buried by anxiety and the stress of being married to a Prince and the Hero of the Land. There is always something that Link is worried about, something he is always thinking about, something to do and people to help.
Now? Now he seems to have forgotten everything, has no stress on his shoulders. And while he may have forgotten his marriage, he still is attracted to Sidon and feels comfortable enough to make a move.
Perhaps Sidon can have some fun with this, just this once.
“Hmm…” he started, pretending to think, “that is a tempting offer—however, I will have to decline. I am already a married man.”
Link’s eyes widened and he snapped his head back to look Sidon in the eyes, shock written on his face.
“Wh-What? Who is this luck-lucky woman?” Link stopped, seemingly thinking about it, before mumbling “Or men… do you like men? I hope so.”
“That ‘lucky guy’ is currently so drunk that he has forgotten that we’ve been married for three years already.”
Laughter erupts from Link, loud and boisterous. A laugh that Sidon rarely gets to hear, even when they are alone. Link is one who typically laughs under his breath, silently showing his joy through body language instead of voice. It’s something that Sidon loves about him, something he would never change, but he treasures the few times he gets to hear him laugh out loud with no fear of others hearing him.
Link’s head lands against Sidon’s shoulder again, and he has taken to tracing shapes on his chest. “Heh, dumb dude…” He paused for a second, staring off in one direction. Sidon almost thought that he had dozed off, but then Link looked back up at Sidon. He had the same determined face that Sidon has seen multiple times. “Imma fight him for you!”
Dear Hylia. “Oh, really now?” He asked, trying desperately to hold back laughter. He doesn’t want to stop this ramble with some accidental laughter.
“Yeah.” He trailed off, looking back at his hand where he was still drawing. He seemed to have lost steam, his eyes drooping and motions slowing.
“Alright,” Sidon started, turning towards the direction of their room. “I think you’ve had enough to drink. We should get you to bed.”
“Ooo, you’re taking me to-to bed? Shouldn’ you make me dinner first?” He slurred together.
“How about I make you breakfast? You’re going to need it.”
Link hummed in agreement, another hiccup escaping. Goddess, he is going to hate tomorrow.
By the time Sidon reached their shared room, Link had fallen fast asleep. It was a bit of a struggle to lay Link down without waking him, but it seems the alcohol has made him a much heavier sleeper than usual. He didn’t even stir when Sidon laid down next to him, but he did roll over into Sidon’s chest as soon as he settled.
Sidon chuckled and held his husband close, preparing to take care of him tomorrow.

Sidon awoke long before Link did. He took this as a chance to go to the kitchen and find him some food that would be easy on the stomach. He also ran into Bazz who had brought some medicine to help him feel better.
“I already gave some to Ledo,” Bazz laughed. “Those two should never be left alone with alcohol nearby.”
He was just walking back from meeting with his father when he heard retching coming from his room. He flinched at the sound, secretly hoping that Link was able to make it to the bathroom. He personally doesn’t want to deal with vomit.
Upon entering, he saw their bathroom door ajar and Link kneeling on the floor, heaving. Sidon pushed the door open, looking down at his poor husband.
“Link?” He asked. Link only huffed. “Are you okay?”
The Hylian let out a groan, not even looking to Sidon from where he laid. Sidon let out a sympathetic hum before he leaned down and gently picked up Link.
Link groaned in protest, but did nothing more than curl up into Sidon’s chest as he carried him back to bed.
“Is there anything you need from me?” Sidon asked after he got Link settled back into bed. Link rolled over and stared at him with a blank look in his eyes.
“ Never let me drink this much again ,” he signed, to which Sidon laughed.
“My pearl, this was out of my control. Ledo was the one who pulled you away from me.”
Link glared at Sidon, before flipping him off and rolling over.
“Link!” Sidon whined. “Don’t be mad at me!”
Link didn’t respond. He just huffed and held the blanket closer to him, scooting further away from where Sidon sat.
Sidon pouted, even though he knew Link couldn’t see it. “You don’t even want to cuddle?”
There was no movement until Link slowly looked over his shoulder, glaring at Sidon while contemplating. He eventually sighed and nodded his head, returning to his position with his back to Sidon.
Sidon happily climbed into bed, pulling his love against his chest. Link let out a sigh and leaned against him.
The two sat in silence for a long while, just enjoying each other’s presence while Link nursed his hangover. Sidon wished he would fall asleep, but he knew that Link had a strange relationship with naps and hated taking them, so he counted Link even staying in bed as a win.
Eventually, Link broke the silence. “What did I do while I was drunk?” He asked, voice hoarse from throwing up and lack of use.
Sidon chuckled. “You forgot we were married.”
Link whipped around towards Sidon, fear written on his face.
“What did I do?!”
“Nothing bad, love!” Sidon assured him. “You just—well, you tried to ask me out, then threatened to fight my husband.”
Link did not look assured. “Why would I do that?!”
“You were determined to win my hand in marriage.” Link let out a mortified groan, hiding his face in a pillow while Sidon laughed.
“I’m never drinking again,” Link muttered, barely legible through the fabric. Sidon just placed a kiss on his head.
“I would’ve married you, even if you lost.”
Link mustered all of his strength to attack Sidon with one of their many pillows, Sidon laughing while trying to block the attacks.
When Link finally lost steam, he dropped the pillow and flopped down onto Sidon’s chest. Sidon held him close, taken to running his claws through Link’s hair.
“ I love you ,” Link signed against his chest.
“I love you, my pearl.”
