Eddie is hosting Hellfire at his and Steve's house and Steve is ready for the kids to leave.

Chapter Text

As Steve pulled his car into the driveway of the small house he shared with Eddie he couldn't help but let out an exasperated sigh at the sight of several bikes lying in their yard. He had completely forgotten that it was Hellfire night. He had worked a long shift on top of going to one of the classes he had picked up at the local community college. All that Steve wanted to do was go home and veg out on the couch with his boyfriend. But now there was a squadron of teenagers playing dungeons and dragons in their house usurping Eddie's attention.

Steve grabbed his bag and slowly made his way up to the door. He paused before he opened it in an attempt to mentally prepare himself for whatever was going on inside. After a few deep breaths to push down his annoyance, Steve opened the door to a clean and quiet living room. He set his bag down on the couch and wandered into the kitchen, pausing momentarily when he spotted a plate covered with tinfoil and a can of beer sitting on the stove top.

He approached and noticed there was a note under the plate, covered in Eddie's frantic chicken script.

Stevie-

Sustenance and refreshment. Enjoy away from the gremlins in the garage.

-E

Steve chuckled under his breath and shook his head as he set the note aside. He peeled back the foil and smiled at the left overs from the night before. At least he wouldn't have to worry about making his own food for the night. Steve popped the plate in the microwave to warm the food up a bit before he opened the beer and took a sip. From the other end of the house he could hear a muffled groan of anguish followed by what sounded like Eddie laughing. They had set up their one car garage as a space for Eddie to host either Hellfire meetings or band practices if need be. Steve put his foot down about turning their kitchen table into a campaign setting or using their guest room, wanting to keep the space open in case any of their kids needed a safe place to crash.

The beeping of the microwave brought Steve's attention back to the kitchen. He retrieved his dinner and walked out to the living room where he sunk into the sofa. He kicked off his shoes and propped his feet up on the coffee table, digging into his food. Steve's body sagged into the sofa as he relaxed and worked his way through eating. He was exhausted and while he was grateful for Eddie thinking ahead and setting out dinner for him, it didn't change the fact that all he really wanted was to wrap up with Eddie and relax together.

Steve all but scarfed down the remaining leftovers, as if his body had suddenly remembered that he hadn't eaten since the bowl of cereal he'd had before leaving for work that morning. In what felt like a blink of an eye, the food and his beer were gone and Steve was stretched out on the sofa feeling quite full. He tried to relax a bit but the intermittent shouts coming from the garage kept him from fully doing so.

With a low groan, Steve heaved himself up off the couch and brought his dishes into the kitchen to clean. Once he had straightened up Steve headed down the hall towards his and Eddie's bedroom. Laid out on the bed was a simple pair of Grey sweatpants and one of Eddie's old Black Sabbath shirts that he had cut the sleeves off, leaving the sides almost fully open. Steve shook his head with a slight laugh as he grabbed the clothes and headed into the shower.

A hot shower was sure to relax him, and kill time until the Hellfire session was over for the night. Steve stripped off his clothes, tossed them into the hamper, and climbed into the shower stall. He sighed in appreciation as the water fell over his tense muscles. He and Robin had done a full restock of the video store which left his shoulders and thighs aching unpleasantly. That on top of going to his night class, spending the whole time hunched over his textbook and notes, Steve's body was in need of a rest. He worked on almost autopilot, washing his body and face before getting his hair done.

By the time that he was done, Steve was feeling much better. He turned off the water and roughly dried his body with his towel that hung on the back of the bathroom door. He pulled on the lounge clothes that Eddie had laid out for him with an affectionate smile plastered to his face. Steve carefully patted the excess water from his hair and hung the towel back up. He exited the bathroom and as he shuffled back out towards the kitchen he heard the garage door leading inside burst open followed by several teenagers shouting for snacks.

"Hey Steve," Dustin waved as he followed Lucas into the kitchen.

Steve rolled his eyes and shook his head. Eddie was the last one out of the garage. He was wearing a pair of black jeans with rips on the knees as well as a very faded Iron Maiden shirt. "Ten minutes for snacks, you little shits! And only what's in your cabinet, don't eat me and Stevie out of house and home," he called after the rambunctious group.

Eddie paused in the hallway and a broad smile broke out over his face when he spotted Steve standing in the doorway to the kitchen. He approached a little slower than he normally would with his arms outstretched and a flirty glint in his eye. "Speak of angels and hear the flutter of their wings," Eddie laughed as he wrapped his arms around Steve's middle.

"Hi Eds," Steve very nearly giggled as he draped an arm over Eddie's shoulders, "Thank you for leaving dinner out for me."

Eddie hummed happily and smiled warmly at Steve, holding him just a bit tighter. "You had a long day, you deserve to be taken care of," he responded in a soft voice.

"There are children present," Erica's voice cut through their moment.

Eddie turned his head and looked at the gathered teenagers in their kitchen, all of whom were stuffing their faces with whatever junk food Eddie had bought and put into the cabinet by the fridge for them. "Children who are in our house and need to let me greet my boyfriend after not seeing him all day," Eddie said through his teeth with absolutely no heat or intimidation in his tone. Steve laughed and patted Eddie on the shoulder before he slipped out of his arms.

"Children," he greeted as he moved into the kitchen. Steve slid his hands under Mike's arms and lifted him up, twisting him out of the way of the refrigerator. He ignored Mike's indignant protest and dug into the fridge for a moment before coming back up with two cans of beer. He closed the door and turned around to see Eddie had joined them all in the kitchen. He was leaning against the counter with his hand buried in the bag of chips that Dustin was holding.

Steve walked over and held out a can for Eddie to take, which he did so happily. Steve leaned against the counter next to Eddie, not really paying much attention to what exactly the kids were all talking about. Especially not when Eddie laid an arm around his shoulders, pulling him just a bit closer. Without much thought, Steve leaned over and pressed a small kiss to the hinge of Eddie's jaw.

"What was that?" Erica asked with a scoff.

Steve rolled his eyes, "Affection."

Eddie let out a playful huff and muttered, "Disgusting."

Steve laughed and rolled his eyes before turning his attention to Dustin who was trying to fill Steve in on what was going on in their campaign. After a few moments, Steve felt Eddie bump their hips together and he looked back over at him with raised questioning eyebrows.

"Do it again."

Erica groaned, "There. Are. Children. Present."

"Then. Go. Back. To. The. Garage," Eddie laughed, pulling Steve closer to press a kiss to his lips. The sounds of a mass exodus vaguely registered in Steve's senses but he couldn't focus on that right now. Right now his body was relaxed and warm from his shower and his boyfriend was kissing him sweetly in their kitchen. He slid over to stand right in front of Eddie, pressing their bodies closer together.

"How much longer until you can kick them all out?" Steve murmured, nipping gently at Eddie's lower lip.

A low groan came from Eddie's chest, "They have fifteen more minutes to futz with this puzzle and then I'm introducing their next battle and sending them home."

"Fifteen minutes?" Steve hummed, his hands slowly sliding over Eddie's sides.

"Ten. Ten minutes," Eddie said abruptly. He pressed a firm kiss to Steve's lips and pulled himself away. He clapped his hands together and nearly jogged out of the kitchen, back down the hall towards the garage. He threw the door open, a bit dramatically, and got the party's attention.

"Alright, puzzle theories let's go!"

Chapter 2

Summary:

"So this beholder is there blocking the way, right?"

Steve sighed softly against Eddie's chest, "Beholder… that's the crazy eye one?"

Eddie abruptly stopped his tirade and his hand had even stopped petting through Steve's hair. Confused, Steve lifted his head and looked up at his boyfriend with a crumpled sort of expression on his face. Eddie, however, was beaming back at Steve.

"As I live in breathe, Steve Harrington, have you actually retained information about dungeons and dragons?" He asked in an overly put upon voice, teasing evident in his tone.

"Shh, Shh, shut up and get out. If you wake Steve up, I swear that will make sure all of your characters die next week," Eddie threatened in a low voice as he ushered the kids to the door, flinging it open and gesturing out into the night.

Mike groaned over dramatically as he stepped outside, "C'mon, Eddie, that's not cool."

"Yeah, besides you probably woke him up with your big ass mouth," Erica huffed as she followed Lucas out.

Eddie paused for just a moment, rolling that comment over in his mind, but decided against saying anything about those thoughts out loud in front of the children. He gripped the door tightly in his hand and forced an almost pained looking smile, his eyes squinting at the group of teenagers in his lawn.

"Stick to the roads. Stay together. Get home safe, now."

The group collectively sighed and rolled their eyes, "Okay, dad."

With a small laugh, Eddie waved and closed the door tightly, locking it quickly. He whipped around to see that Steve was laying on his stomach stretched out on the sofa. He had one arm tucked up under his head as a makeshift pillow while the other dangled off the side where his hand rested on one of his textbooks. Eddie couldn't help but smile a bit sadly at the sight. Steve had been working himself to the bone the last few weeks between his job, classes, and helping their ragtag group of children whenever they needed him.

Eddie slowly walked over, to avoid the floor squeaking as he approached, and lifted Steve's textbook up off the floor to set it on the coffee table. He crouched down in front of Steve, carding a hand through his hair. Steve, surprisingly, blinked open his eyes with a low hum.

"That was more than ten minutes," he mumbled, rubbing his cheek sleepily where it was pillowed on his own bicep.

Eddie sighed, "I know, babe, but listen Sinclair had this absolutely off the wall idea of how he thought the party should proceed and I didn't even think about it so we had to roll and figure out wh-"

"Eds. Eddie, baby. I love you so much, and I am so glad that you had fun tonight but I really do not care right now," Steve said, his voice lower and more gruff with sleep.

Eddie could only laugh. He pushed Steve's hair up off of his forehead as he leaned in to press a small kiss on the center of it. Steve smiled warmly back at Eddie before he slowly but surely pushed himself up from his lying state to sit upright. His face creased in pain as he moved, his body no longer warm and relaxed like it was after his shower and now the nagging pain from restocking the video store had set back in.

Steve groaned lowly and rolled his neck before he looked back at Eddie who was getting to his feet. Eddie held a hand out which Steve took without hesitation. He was hauled to his feet and a breathless sort of laugh escaped him as Eddie pulled him close and wrapped his arms around his waist. Steve's arms snaked around Eddie's neck effortlessly. Eddie began to pepper soft kisses anywhere he could reach. One to Steve's temple. One to his left cheekbone just below his eye. One to Steve's chin. One to Steve's jaw. One to the very tip of Steve's nose.

And finally, one finally kiss to Steve's expectant lips.

Steve let out a content hum when Eddie pulled back ever so slightly, "Do it again."

Eddie, not needing to be told twice, leaned right back in and pressed their lips together. It certainly wasn't their most passionate or exciting kiss to date. But standing wrapped in each other's arms in the living room of the house they shared after a long day, it was the perfect kiss. Their lips moved perfectly in sync, moving and pressing together as soft, content sighs filled the spaces inbetween.

Slowly, they pulled apart from one another and all they could do was stare at the other. Eddie's hands found purchase on Steve's hips and gently pushed the fabric of the shirt he was wearing up just enough to come to rest on Steve's smooth, warm skin. Steve laid his head down on top of Eddie's shoulder, his nose just brushing the dip in Eddie's throat.

"You ready for bed, pretty boy?" Eddie asked in a soft voice, his thumbs running circles over Steve's hips.

Steve could only bring himself to nod once before a yawn all but ripped its way out of him. Eddie chuckled and slowly took a few steps backwards forcing Steve's arms to fall away from their perch upon his shoulders. He grabbed hold of Steve's hand and gave it a gentle tug as he started to lead Steve back towards the bedroom. Steve hadn't noticed when he first arrived home but at some point during the day Eddie had changed the sheets and made the bed, something he only actually noticed as he crawled under the covers.

"You're wonderful," Steve murmured, sleepily smacking his lips.

Eddie stripped down to his dark colored boxers after turning off the light. He climbed into bed beside Steve who almost immediately draped himself over Eddie's body. His right arm laid across Eddie's hips and his head rested comfortably on Eddie's chest. Eddie lifted a hand to thread into Steve's hair. It was mostly dry from his shower earlier in the evening, and Eddie's fingers absently ran through the thick strands and twirled some of it around them.

Steve took a deep breath that was interrupted by a yawn, "Tell- Tell me about your stupid game."

While Steve didn't care about the particulars of Dungeons and Dragons or whatever campaign that Eddie was running for the kids, he did love to hear Eddie talk about it. He relished the way Eddie's voice picked up speed when he was excited or the cadence changed when something especially dramatic happened. Steve figured out a while ago that he could listen to Eddie talk about the things he loved endlessly. So, when Eddie launched into a long winded explanation of what exactly happened (and why ten minutes turned into over an hour) Steve was perfectly content to lie there and listen as he may or may not have dozed in and out.

Steve huffed loudly and rolled his eyes. He turned over away from Eddie which, honestly, just made him laugh loudly. He followed Steve, pressing his chest flat against Steve's back as he wrapped his arms around him. He pressed kiss after kiss to Steve's exposed shoulder and grinned against the warm, tanned skin.

"Do it again, baby. Talk nerdy to me. Tell me about liches," Eddie giggled, nuzzling into Steve's shoulder.

Steve sighed and shook his head, "You're a jerk and I hate you."

Eddie laughed again, pressing into the back of Steve's neck to stifle the sound. "I'm not a jerk. I just love you and you love me and you know stuff about d&d," Eddie murmured between kisses he placed to Steve's back, neck, and shoulders.

"I am interested in my boyfriend's hobbies, how am I being made fun of here? I'm a good boyfriend."

Eddie hummed and hugged Steve closer to him, "Mm, the best boyfriend. The best absolute nerd of a boyfriend."
