Chapter Text
Chay was sure that this is the reason he is at university.
Don’t let Porsche hear him, because then he’ll never hear the end of it. Okay, yes, university was to help him learn or whatever, but Chay couldn’t really be bothered to remember any of his brother’s words when he was staring at the most beautiful person, he had ever laid eyes on.
Because wow. People were not supposed to look like that in real life. It simply wasn’t fair for them mere mortals.
“Who is that?” Chay murmured to his friend whilst he kept his eyes on the man of his dreams, the man who just so happened to be seated a couple of metres away from him. He also happened to be surrounded by two guys and three girls, so Chay hoped his friend knew who he was referring to.
Thankfully he did.
His friend, Mine, raised his eyes to the crowd that drew Chay’s, and others around them, attention only to let out a short laugh. “That will be P’Wik, he’s a fourth-year music student and he is a professional singer. I’m surprised you didn’t know him already.”
“Really?” Chay tilted his head, because he really had no idea. But it made sense when he raked his eyes over the Wik’s (beautiful) profile. His sharp, defined facial features paired with his luscious dark hair and that effortless style he had going on with the loose university shirt untucked with his straight-leg dress pants, it made sense as to why he drew attention. Wik just screamed superstar material.
“Yeah,” Mine nodded. “He is the reason why Chulalongkorn University gets its recognition.”
Chay hummed to himself as they both got back to their own assignments, raising his eyes every so often to take a glimpse at the handsome senior, who was busy with his own stuff it seemed with the way he kept his face and eyes downcast.
When he got home and after he completed his homework, Chay found himself looking up Wik on Instagram. His finger traced over the most recent photo on his page. Wik looked as amazing as ever with freckles adorning his face with his hair slicked back as he was crouched down with a bright light haloing his body. Chay’s breath got stuck in his throat, how could someone look so perfect? He knew that the photo was edited for a photoshoot; it was blurred and brightened to resemble a film camera, but it didn’t make the model any less beautiful. Having seen the singer in person, Chay wasn’t even surprised to know that Wik was photogenic.
Going back to his profile, Chay’s eyes glanced at the link, and he clicked on it, which brought him to his YouTube page. Curiously, Chay clicked on a few videos, some being covers of famous artists and others being original songs. He listened for about 20 minutes until he was called for dinner. So, Wik was handsome and extremely talented. Was there anything he couldn’t do?
The days passed after Chay had been known about Wik, and occasionally, he saw the other man in the hallways when he went to and from his classes. And every single time Chay saw him, it was like he was seeing him for the first time. He would get a strange rush in his stomach and his heartrate would accelerate; it was unlike anything he had ever felt before. It was so odd.
Chay had always been on the shy side, however he was not one to hesitate when he wanted something. If he needed to get things done, he would swallow the fear that he felt and channel that small amount of courage he had. But that teeny tiny amount of courage would not help him get through that gigantic entourage that always seemed to surround Wik. Okay, gigantic seemed too dramatic but it was like Wik was never alone, there was always someone around him, and that intimated Chay.
Another thing that intimidated Chay was the fact that Wik was quiet. For someone who had a large following of one million followers, he barely spoke to anyone, but he was approached often by people who Chay assumed were fans. He noticed that Wik was nice to them, offering them friendly but reserved smiles but once they left, he was back to his blank expression. The older man seemed to have that bad-boy persona about him, but Chay didn’t know whether it was the truth or not.
His popularity, his quietness, that all seemed to intimidate Chay.
That afternoon, when he came home to the major family compound, Chay went to his brother and brother-in-law’s suite where he found them sitting next to each other in the living room. He stood in front of them whilst they were making use of their rare free time by watching something on Porsche’s phone. The youngest man bit his bottom lip and played with his fingers before opening his mouth.
“You know how to talk to guys, right?”
That caused the couple to break out of their domestic trance and glance up at the student standing across from them. They shared a look before looking back at him. It was silent so Chay thought to continue talking.
“You know how to talk to guys, right? Because what do you say to them, exactly? Do you say ‘hi’ because I don’t think I can do that. How do I talk to him if I can’t even start a conversation?” His voice got higher as he started to freak out, causing his brother to stop him.
“Okay okay Chay,” Porsche interrupted him. “Let’s start from the beginning.”
He nodded and took a deep breath. “Okay, so there is this guy at my school. He is a singer and he’s popular and I want to talk to him, but I don’t know how to.”
Porsche swallowed, turning to face Kinn, who looked all too happy to help Chay with his dilemma. He on the other hand was cautious. He didn’t know how to feel about his little brother wanting to know how to talk to boys. Talking to boys let alone liking boys, he was still so young. He didn’t even want to think about Chay even being in a relationship, that idea still seemed so far away in his mind.
“Do you see him around often?” asked Kinn, “because if you do, then you can approach him by talking about a shared interest or something?”
Chay thought about it for a bit for voicing, “I do see him but that’s because he studies in the same school, but he is my senior.”
“Oh,” Kinn pursed his lips. “Well, maybe you can try to see if he can help you with one of your assignments. Seniors love helping their juniors.”
Porsche only shook his head and glared at Kinn. “Chay is smart, and he shouldn’t pretend to not know something to get someone else’s attention.”
“I know that obviously,” Kinn retorted, “but it will help him get his feet wet. What do you say he should do?”
Porsche smirked and jutted his chin out proudly, “I say you go up to him and tell him the real reason you want to talk to him. Like, ‘hey I think you’re cute’.”
Chay squawked, covering his face with mortification. “I am not doing that! I could never do something like that!” He shuddered; his brother was always the extra one. Chay pouted and his shoulders deflated. “I want to talk to him, but he seems intimidating.”
“What’s so intimidating about him?”
“He is popular and always has people around him. He’s super handsome.”
“Okay?” Porsche raised his eyebrow. “He may be handsome, but you are too.”
Chay felt his ears flush at the compliment. “But he is quiet and has a resting face. Like he looks mean but what if he is actually mean?” The question came out as a whine, making him sound more like a small child than a university student.
It was Kinn’s turn to raise his eyebrow. “Well, if he’s mean to you then you come to us, and we’ll handle it.”
Chay pouted and crossed his arms. Violence is never the answer. “That’s too dramatic.”
His brother shrugged, “then I don’t know what you want us to tell you.”
He then left the apartment to go to his room. Maybe he could come up with something on his own.
---
This was not how it was supposed to go.
Chay was excitedly kicking his feet out as he sat on one of the tables, waiting for Kinn and Porsche to come pick him up. It was one of those days where they were free for the rest of the day and dedicated that time to spend with him, and the best part was that it was a Friday.
His lock screen displayed with a message from his brother letting him know that they had arrived and a with a happy chirp, Chay hopped up and threw his bag over his shoulder before heading to the open exit. With the way he rushing to the exit, he didn’t realise that he bumped into someone walking in the opposite direction. They only collided their shoulders, but it was with enough force to have them tripping over one another. With a tight grip, Chay held onto the front of the other person’s shirt while they held onto his shoulders.
Once they managed to gain control over their balance, Chay exclaimed, “I’m so sorry!”
The person who bumped into him answered with a stiff, “it’s fine.” Chay, being the concerned and sweet person he was, didn’t notice the frustration and annoyance seeping through the person’s tone. He was more focused on the fact that he had ripped the poor person’s button off his shirt.
“Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry! Your button, I popped it out of your shirt!” He yelped with his hands flying all over the place in front of the person’s shirt.
“I said it was fine,” the person answered, the annoyance increasing as they continued.
Chay, bless his heart, wasn’t paying attention as he was more interested in paying for the person’s shirt. He felt absolutely terrible. “I should at least pay for your shirt or something.”
The person growled, gripping onto Chay’s shoulder to push his hands off his shirt. “I said it was fine!” The anger radiating from his voice caused Chay to fall out of his stupor and look up. He made eye contact with angry narrowed eyes bordered by full furrowed brows.
He bumped into a man, but not just any man. The man of his dreams. Not only that but when Chay broke eye contact, he looked around to see everyone in the open entrance of the building staring at that. It was silent save for the shudders of cameras. Humiliation and mortification alike crept up on Chay when he realised that the older man’s yell most likely caused their little (large) audience. And the only reason he yelled was because he was annoyed at Chay’s pestering. God, Chay would never be able to show his face in public ever again.
-
Kim, on the other hand, felt the frustration seep into him with every passing second. All he wanted was to finish his last class and go home and what happens instead? Some student bumps into him and causes his button to pop off. Not that he needed to worry about one less shirt since he had a bunch available. But the kid wouldn’t stop asking if he was okay and wouldn’t stop apologising like please, be quiet.
How can someone be so caring? It was unnerving.
He couldn’t stop himself from yelling when he was yes again going on about the dang shirt.
“I said it was fine!” He growled out, looking down to face the student.
He met large brown eyes framed by the thickest lashes he had ever seen. Staring into those doe-like eyes, Kim felt like it was transported into this tunnel, frozen while everything around him was still moving. Time stood still, and it felt like he was wrapped up in bliss.
Kim felt warmth erupt all over him: his arms, back of his neck, his back, where was all of these coming from? And was that light shining behind them?
Kim only heard about love at first sight from the romance dramas Tankhun watched, and never believed it to be true. The idea itself would make him snort, because come on now, this was real lie. Things like that don’t happen to real people, especially him.
However, all those thoughts came to an abrupt stop when he was gazing at the most beautiful person he had ever seen. It was like he got slapped with emotion, suddenly.
They stared at each other until the shorter man realised that he was still holding onto Kim’s shirt. He let go of Kim’s shirt with a squeaky “I’m sorry” and bolted to the exit, his mop of curls bouncing with each footstep.
Kim opened his mouth and then closed it, his hand reaching out to grasp the air, ultimately letting it fall to his side. He sighed, thinking back to the beautiful man but remembered the frown between his eyebrows and the way his eyes and bottom lip quivered. Ah, Kim probably scared the crap out of him.
He sighed; he would just have to find him tomorrow then.
-
Chay sighed in relief when he saw Porsche leaning against the fancy sleek black car with Kinn. Ignoring the frantic pace of his heart and the numerous students ogling at the car, he ran into his brother’s awaiting arms with a happy noise.
“You seem excited,” Chay felt the vibrations from Porsche’s shirt as he was engulfed in his strong and warm arms.
“I am,” Chay answered, propping his chin against Porsche’s chest as he looked up at him. “I am so excited to spend time with my favourite brother.”
The older man’s smile dropped into a flat line, loosening his hold on Chay making the younger man laugh and latch onto him. “I’m your only brother,” grumbled Porsche whilst trying to pry himself off the monkey which is Chay.
“Well, technically I have Kinn too as my older brother,” commented Chay making Porsche roll his eyes and Kinn laugh from his seat in the car.
“Whatever,” Porsche said as they both sat themselves into the plush leather seats. “I took care of you since you were a baby, I will always be your favourite.”
“Of course you will,” Chay crooned reaching out to pat his brother’s head and laughed when he got smacked away.
“Hi P’Kinn!” Chay grinned and waved; the older man smiled and greeted him back.
“How was school today?” Kinn asked.
When he was about to answer, Porsche commented.
“Yeah, you seemed rushed to get out of there.”
At his sentence, Chay deflated once his brain caught up with the embarrassing memory that happened not too long ago. He groaned out loud, his hands coming up to cover his now flushed face. “I am so embarrassed! I can never show my face in public ever again.”
Kinn grinned whilst Porsche snorted, and he looked at Chay through the rear-view mirror. “What happened for you to be so dramatic?”
“Okay, promise you won’t laugh at me?”
Porsche was already laughing but managed to cover his mouth with his hand to muffle the noise. “We promise.”
“You can’t make fun of me,” Chay pointed out as well making his older brother roll his eyes.
“Oh my gosh, you’re so dramatic; I bet it’s not even that bad. Just say what happened.”
“Okay, okay.” Chay took a deep breath, his ears already pink with embarrassment. “Remember that guy I was telling you about? Well, I bumped into him today, like seriously bumped into him. I didn’t even see him; it was like he spawned from the ground or something-”
“Porschay,” Porsche interrupted him, fighting the urge to grin. Laughter was already seeping through his voice; he didn’t know how long it would take until he actually laughing.
“Oh sorry,” he giggled nervously. “Okay, I bumped into him so hard that his button from his uniform shirt popped off and I felt so bad that I started rambling, you know like I usually do. And then he yelled at me.” He ended with a large pout.
Kinn and Porsche felt themselves straighten up at his words.
“He yelled at you?”
Kinn’s fingers clenched around the steering wheel so tight that his knuckles became white. He had a half a mind to turn the car around and go after that kid.
Chay hummed and continued. “It was so embarrassing, now I can never speak to him ever again,” he whined, closing his eyes and kicking his feet like a little kid. “He was kind of scary, you know, so I don’t want to bump into him again.”
“If he bothers you, just tell us,” Porsche said and Chay only rolled his eyes.
“I’m not a kid, hia.”
“But you whine like one,” Kinn retorted making Chay fold his arms and pout.
“P’Kinn,” groaned Chay, “the guy I have a crush on yelled at me in front of everyone! It was humiliating and he is scary, now I really don’t have a chance.”
“I’m sure things will blow over soon,” Porsche said, hoping to calm him. “As for feeling sad over this guy, why don’t we do something to do get your mind of it? Whatever you want, name it and we’ll do just that.”
“Yup!” agreed Kinn, nodding as he pulled the car into the driveway. The guards already lined up around the car to greet the small family. “You are the prince for today.”
“Just today?”
“Don’t get cheeky,” grumbled Porsche, unbuckling his belt to turn around and flick his brother on the forehead. Chay yelped and puffed out his lips whilst Kinn and Porsche opened their respective doors and opened Chay’s as well. The youngest man only raised his arms after he turned to face them, making both raise their eyebrows.
“Carry me,” he requested, smiling sweetly, making Porsche snort. He looked at his boyfriend with blame.
“You said he was the ‘prince for today’ so off you go,” he pushed Kinn, and the older man only rolled his eyes playfully before turning around and kneeling on the ground.
“Come on, Prince Chay,” Kinn grunted as Chay happily squealed before latching himself onto Kinn’s back and wrapping his arms around his shoulders and legs around his waist. He pushed himself off the ground whilst Porsche grabbed Chay’s school bag, and they walked into the mansion with the guards not batting an eye at the scene in front of them. Figured that both Kittisawat brothers have the heir of the major family wrapped around their fingers.
---
Days had passed since that hugely awkward moment in the open entrance of the university, and Chay had mostly overcame the strong urge to hide in his bedroom forever. In the first few days, he had managed to serve a poker face whenever students would look and point his way whilst simultaneously looking at their phones. He already knew what they were looking at having seen the video multiple times on social media. He was so glad that Kinn and his brother didn’t have social media, because the last thing he needed was the both of them tracking Wik down.
Speaking of Wik, Chay had seen the older student way more than he would have liked. And that was saying something since he had always looked forward to catching glimpses of him in the hallway. But now, it was like he saw him all the time, and whenever he looked his way, it seemed like Wik was already looking at him. Chay would meet his eyes for a second before quickly heading to where he needed to be, which was anywhere but where Wik was.
Fortunately for Chay, he was able to manage a whole week without ever running into Wik and finally, he was able to spend the weekend relaxing in the comfort of his room and maybe spend some time with Porsche, Kinn, or Tankhun.
-
Late in the afternoon, Chay found himself scrolling through his phone whilst he was on a short walk to his room from the gardens. At the end of a long week, he enjoyed sitting in the warm sun and just enjoying the peace and calm air of the garden. It reminded him of simpler times, when it was just him and his brother; they didn’t have much but Chay relished the times where he would just sit in his yard and spend the time playing his guitar or doing his homework. He would go back to his home often but there were times when he would make use of the beautiful oasis which was the garden of the Theerapanyakun mansion.
As he was walking, he felt the wooden double doors open so he could enter a new hallway. Assuming that it was one of the guards that opened them for him, he chirped out a “thank you!”
“You.”
It came from a deep voice, from someone that sounded very familiar to him. He looked up to see Wik standing just a foot in front of him with his hand on the door. Chay quickly moved ahead out of the door’s way and shyly smiled at him. “P’Wik? What are you doing here?”
Wik stared at him blankly. What was this beautiful angel doing at his family’s house. Did he know someone who lived here? A guard perhaps? He would have known if he knew any of his brothers. Was he dating someone here?
That thought caused to fury to burn through him like no other, his hand clenched at his sides. He didn’t even realise that he was doing it until he caught the younger man’s eyes on his hands, causing him to stop. The last thing he wanted was him to think that he was mad at him, again.
What was going on with him, he thought. Who was this kid to make Kim feel things he hadn’t felt before? Just looking at him made his chest tight, his hairs on the back of his neck stand but at the same time he felt warm and comfortable around him. He felt like he had known forever even though he didn’t even know his name. Kim knew that with the resources he had, he could find out his name and everything about him in a matter of hours, but he wanted to do this right. He wanted this angel in front of him to tell him everything about himself.
“This is my family’s house,” he answered gruffly, wincing internally because that was not how he wanted to sound like. Gosh, can’t he do anything right? It was like God wanted him to sound and look mean. He could care less if that’s what he looked like to other people but not to the person he can’t stop thinking about.
“Oh,” the younger blinked owlishly at him. “Your family?” He mumbled lowly with a furrowed brow, then he brightened up quickly snapping his eyes up to Kim making his heartbeat just from their eyes meeting. “Oh! Are you P’Kinn and P’Tankhun’s brother?” At his nod, he gasped happily showing off his teeth with his wide grin. “You must be P’Kim! Hi P’Kim, my name is Porschay, but you can call me Chay.”
Porschay, so that was his name. A beautiful name fitting for an angel.
“I live here with my hia Porsche, he’s P’Kinn’s boyfriend.”
Now, Kim definitely knew who Porsche was; he had seen him here and there on his trips to the mansion but never bothered getting to know him. Figures that he was connected to Chay. If he had known that he would have stopped by ages ago.
It became quiet after that and Kim looked over at Chay, who averted his eyes to the ground and bounced on the toes of his feet. “Well, I think that I am going to head back to my room. It was nice meeting you P’Kim.” The corner of his fill lips lifted just slightly, and Kim was already missed his dimply grin.
He needed to see him again.
“Wait,” he said, his voice loud enough to make Chay jump. “Wait,” he repeated more softly. When Chay turned around to face him with his full bottom lip jutted out and head tilted at an angle in confusion, he continued. “I, uh, wanted to say that I’m sorry for last week.” The way Chay’s ears turned red had Kim understand that he knew what he was referring to. “I shouldn’t have lashed out on you like that, I was tired and annoyed with something that had nothing to do with you, but I took my frustration out on you, and I shouldn’t have done that. You were only trying to help, so I’m sorry.”
Chay looked back at him with wide eyes, clearly not expecting those words, especially not from Kim. He looked like he meant everything that he was saying and Chay felt that he looked and even sounded so different from the person he encountered last week. Not being a person to hold grudges, Chay had already forgiven him not long after, but he found it incredibly sweet that Kim wanted to apologise to him. Especially since he most likely noticed Chay running away from him every time at university.
“Oh,” he breathed, with his cheeks flushed with a healthy red. “That is very nice of you P’Kim, but I already forgave you a while ago. So don’t worry, we can act like it never happened!” He beamed, showing off his perfect white teeth. He was so beautiful; how can someone be that beautiful? Kim wished he could have that image ingrained in his brain forever.
“Perfect,” Kim murmured softly, looking at Chay softly whilst moving closer to him. Chay let out a soft breath noticing the small space between them, with the both of them alone in the dark green hallway. “I know that you’re heading to your room, and I have to get home myself so would it be alright if I bother you one last time before I leave?”
At Chay’s immediate nod, Kim leaned his upper body into his personal space, his eyes staring down at him predatorily, whilst his lip curved up into the slightest smirk. “Give me your number.”
Chay only could blink as his mouth dried up and couldn’t even draw out the simplest of words. He just stared up at the silky dark strands only barely covering Kim’s onyx eyes in disbelief that the world’s handsome man, who also was the man of Chay’s dream, was asking-no demanding-him for his number.
“W-what, why do you need my number?”
Kim’s smirk only widened.
“So I can let you know what time I’m going to pick you up for date tomorrow.”
A surprised left Chay; he was so astonished that his hand went out to grasp his chest. Did he just get asked out on a date? By Kim?
Well, who was Chay to deny him?
“Why do you need my number for that? You could just tell me.” Chay was just playing around with him since he was already going into his phonebook app on his phone to add a new contact.
“I get your number either way, don’t I?” Kim full on smiled, teeth and all, making Chay lose his breath. Wow, his smile was more beautiful in person. And Chay was going on a date with him, Chay. “I needed an excuse to get your number and I get a date out of it. It’s a win-win situation for me.”
Chay could only giggle when his phone was handed back to him and waved to Kim when the older turned around with a soft “goodbye.”
When Chay reached his bedroom, his phone vibrated with a new text message.
Kim <3
It was so nice to meet you angel, I can’t wait for our date.
Chay bit his bottom lip to keep himself from squealing out loud in the hallway; he could at least wait until he got inside.
He couldn’t wait either.
