Work Text:
They were getting close to being able to open the hotel and Alison and Mike had been completely rushed off their feet.
The opening was only a few weeks away and they still had so much to finish last minute. Alison was constantly either sat frantically typing on her laptop, talking to important people on the phone or running around fixing things up. This would have been fine if she had also been making sure to get plenty of sleep and actually eating enough in between jobs. Unfortunately, she seemed to keep forgetting about that.
It all came to a head a few days before they planned to open.
Alison had been stressed out of her mind and as a result had barely slept at all the entire last week. She'd also gotten distracted before she could eat any breakfast, which wouldn't have mattered so much had she not also forgotten to eat dinner last night.
She had shut herself in her office to sort out some paperwork and not come back out in hours. The ghosts were getting worried.
Alison could barely even see the letters anymore. Her head lolled as she stared blankly at the screen. After a few too many times of nearly falling asleep, she decided to move and do something else. She scrubbed a hand across her face. She probably looked a mess.
She sighed and stood up only for the room to immediately start spinning. Her vision blackened for a moment as she caught herself on the table. Okay. That wasn't good. She should probably get a drink or something. She tried to take a step but apparently her legs didn't agree with that decision. She was unconscious before she hit the floor.
A thud from Alison's office caught the attention of Thomas and Pat who'd been in just the next room. They both rushed in to see what happened. "Oh gosh! She's fainted!"
"What do we do? You know this kind of thing don't you?" Thomas asked frantically.
"Well, I know what to do if I can touch the person!" Pat exclaimed. "We need to get Mike! Get the others, quick!"
Thomas went running off yelling for the other ghosts.
"What the bally hell is all this racket?" The Captain asked.
"Yes, I'd quite like to know." Fanny frowned.
"Fair Alison has swooned! Pat said we need to get Mike!" Thomas explained.
The Captain immediately straightened up, clearly in action stations. "Yes, quite. We will need to find Julian since he has the best chance of communicating with Michael. Do either of you know where he is?" Both shook their heads. "Right then we'll have to split up and search. We will reconvene here in 2 minutes. Let's go, we have an emergency!"
Despite not liking being ordered around, they weren't in the army after all, Thomas and Fanny split off to search the house.
They quickly found Julian playing chess with Robin and pulled them both away to find Mike.
Meanwhile, Pat had been keeping an eye on Alison. She'd woken up for a few minutes and tried to sit herself up again but moved too quickly and passed out again. Pat, to his credit, had tried to catch her but she'd just fallen through him and made him nauseous.
The others had found Mike painting a wall in one of the bedrooms.
"What do you want me to do then?" Julian asked.
"Well, he's painting, use the paint!" Thomas said.
"See if you can write SOS, that should get his attention." The Captain said.
Julian started writing with much effort.
"Hey, what the-" Mike did a double take as letters slowly started appearing. "SOS? What's happening?"
Julian huffed. It was a lot of work to do this.
"Ali... Faint? Shit!" Mike's eyes widened as he realised what had happened. He quickly dropped his paint roller and started running from the room, calling behind him. "Thanks ghosts whoever you are!"
The ghosts quickly followed him back to Alison's office where she was once again conscious and now leaning against the wall, holding the back of her head where it had knocked against the desk. Mike immediately dropped to her side and started fussing. He ended up driving her to a walk-in center to get checked out and she'd been very firmly told to rest for the next few days. The ghosts were happy to keep her entertained.
