Work Text:

Autumn

In the rain, Takemichi falls in love.

He can’t help it, not with they way Inui and Kokonoi stand before him. Not with the  simple progression of his feelings that makes his heart palpitate in the best way, or the pleasant tingles down his spine that start from the tips of his fingers and end at the tips of his toes. Or what about the quick pull of the breath from his lungs that greets Takemichi like an old friend, so comforting and grounding despite his tightened chest despite the fact they’ve never met before.

One moment, he’s running through the outer streets of Tokyo, Inui holding one of his hands while Kokonoi holds the other, trying their best to beat the oncoming storm that’s closing in on them. And the next, it’s pouring, the quickly moving clouds easily catching up to them.

Inui lets go of Takemichi’s hand, stopping in the middle of the path to look up to the sky, watching the dark, looming clouds above. Cars zoom past, yet they pay no mind to them. An onslaught of droplets soak his gang shirt, leaving little to nothing to the imagination in terms of his upper body.

The sinful rain lands on Inui’s cheeks, pooling quickly before slipping down his face and neck. Takemichi watches the droplets, fascinated by the movement as it dips under Inui’s white shirt and out of view.

The skip of his heartbeat comes known when Inui tilts his head down, green eyes dazzling as he smiles at the of them. Takemichi almost doesn’t notice it, the rapid beating in his chest, because truly, nothing feels any different, he’s always felt this way around Inui.

And then, he laughs.

Inui laughs so freely and joyously as he twirls around, throwing the rain that pooled on his Black Dragon uniform away from him.

Takemichi’s heart thumps so hard that it hurts.

Kokonoi laughs along too, full of so much happiness and love that it makes Takemichi swoon. The black haired male takes a small step forward and hold his arms out, head tilted to the sky as the rain becomes harsher, his cat-like eyes closing.

Takemichi can only stare at them, so beautiful without even trying as their long hair whips around in the strong, stormy wind. It takes the youngests breath away.

“‘Michi, Coco!” Inui calls out, stopping mid-spin to face the two standing before him. He takes a big step forwards and closes the space between them. His bright, blue eyes are filled to the brim with ecstasy from where they peek out from under the blonde hair sticking to his forehead. “Care to dance with me?” He asks softly, cheekily, looking between them with an indecipherable look of his own.

With how beautiful Inui looks under the slight moonlight, how could they say no?  So, they dance.

The three of them dance through the streets of their vast city, twirling and dipping one another as dance unprofessionally, making it up as they go along.

Kokonoi takes it upon himself to lift Takemichi up a couple times, holding him in the air as he spins. His large hands rest on his hips like they were always supposed to be there, like he were his — Takemichi wishes so deeply that he was. Kokonoi then does the same to Inui, who almost squeals when the black haired male nearly slips on the muddy puddles beneath their feet.

Water splashes up their Black Dragon jackets each time Takemichi gets a little too excited, jumping as his heart beats too fast to be contained. All the other two do is laugh happily, their eyes trained on the male in front as he lets his emotions run wild.

In the midst of their dance to Takemichi’s house, a chill settles into their skin, and Takemichi’s sure he’s going to be cold ridden when he wakes up in the morning. But for now, Kokonoi’s joyous smile keeps him warm, and he can’t find it in himself to care about anything else.

When they start to wind down, Takemichi finds himself unable to believe it, not wanting their day together to end. A fulfilling sort of tired falls over them, a blanket, the kind that comes after a long day of fun.  They eventually stop their long waltz and begin to walk side by side. This time, Kokonoi is in the middle. And even though it ended, it wasn’t too bad, after all, Kokonoi’s hand was still in his.

The three of them walk so close together that their sides are pressed against each other. At some point, Inui rests his head on Kokonoi’s shoulder and Takemichi wraps his arms around the elders arm, hugging him as he nuzzles into his jacket. Being so close to Kokonoi like this, it’s a wonder how his heart had never acted out so strongly before.

Takemichi looks up through his eyelashes and meets Kokonoi’s black eyes, staring into them and the universe that shines inside. He cherishes Kokonoi’s gaze on him for a couple seconds before turning his attention back to the long path ahead.  Takemichi thinks that their walk doesn’t last long enough.

“We’re almost there,” Takemichi whispers under his breath, nudging up to Kokonoi. The elder only sighs in response, his warm breath washing over Takemichi’s neck for a quick second before disappearing into the cold night. The youngest shifts from arm-hugging to wrapping his arms around Kokonoi’s waist. “I don’t wanna stop yet,” he continues, pouting softly.

At that, Inui laughs, making a noise for the first time in a couple minutes. They stop outside Takemichi’s front door and they pull apart. Inui steps forwards towards the younger and turns his face just enough for him to press a quick kiss to Takemichi’s cheek.

“Me either, but you don’t wanna get sick, do you?” He replies, a small hint of sadness echoing in his voice, a complete turn from prior.

“No, I guess not.. but we’ll probably get sick anyways, especially with how soaked we are,” Takemichi reasons, not sounding all too upset about it, because if he can spend a couple more minutes with Kokonoi and Inui.. he’s sure it’d be worth it.

“Probably,” Kokonoi agreed, resting his chin on Inui’s shoulders as his arms snake around his waist, “no need to make it worse, though.”

“Yeah..”

Takemichi looks down at the ground and shuffles his feet, not wanting to go just yet. He waits, Inui realises, for something. Kokonoi’s heart beats and he stays silent for a couple seconds, just waiting for the harsh thump his heart brings as it eagerly tries to jump out of his chest.

Takemichi doesn’t make a move to go inside, and although they wordlessly agreed that this would be the end of their day, he still stands there in the pouring rain.

No one moves, the moment stretching on as their day had before it, the peacefulness is only interrupted when Inui realises Takemichi won’t meet their eyes. Concern bubbles in his chest, and Inui reaches out, grabbing the youngers hand in his own.

“You okay?”  Inui’s soothing voice reaching Takemichi’s ears knocks him out of the slight daze he’s in and he blinks. Surprised flickers across his expression so fast that Inui isn’t sure it was ever there, though he knows Takemichi well enough to know that it wasn’t a trick of the imagination.

Takemichi’s face lights up, and his eyes shine in that breathtaking way they’re known to do. “ I’m.. wonderful,” is all he says, breathlessly, and then he pauses, “d‘you wanna know why?”

“Yes,” Inui, instantly replies, maybe too fast judging by Takemichi’s amused surprise, “of course I do.” The rain continues to pour down, but neither of the three can’t bring themselves to care, not when Inui and Kokonoi’s entire being is left waiting for the answer.

“It’s because...” Takemichi trails off, looking around them for a quick second before stepping closer to the two taller men. Inui and Takemichi’s bodies touch, while Kokonoi brings his hands from the elder blonde’s waist to wrap them around Takemichi’s, effectively trapping Inui in between. Inui feels Takemichi’s breath on his lips when he leans up, his curiosity being the only thing keeping him from closing the gap.

“I’m in love.”  Those three words wash over Inui, running down his skin with the rain, a comforting cool to the flames that rise up into his face. Inui can feel Kokonoi have a full body shiver from where he’s pressed to his back and it sends pleasant tingles down his spine.

With his curiosity to sate, and Takemichi still so close, there’s nothing to stop him from feeling the softness of the youngers lips on his own.  He leans down.

With only the raindrops as their witness, they kiss, one after another, sharing, mixing their saliva together.

And it’s perfect.

Winter

A light snow fell over the streets of Tokyo, and Takemichi watches warily from the window, not listening to the Black Dragon meeting that was currently taking place.

It was cold, of course, because it’s winter, but the weather forecast hadn’t mentioned anything about snow! It wasn’t anywhere close to being considered ‘snow weather’ when the meeting first started, but now, two hours later, the snowflakes were painting the ground in their white sheen.

It’d caught everyone completely by surprise, including himself, and he looked out with a frown as a single snowflake drifted down and landed on the windowpane with an inaudible sound. max

“Oh!” Someone exclaimed behind him, voice deep and calming. “Snow! That’s unexpected,” Takemichi looks behind him to see Kokonoi, smiling happily as he looks out the same window as Takemichi with wide eyes, fascinated.

“Why are you so excited? We’ll all be a shivering mess by the time we get back home.” No one comments on the fact Takemichi referred to his home as Inui and Kokonoi’s as well. The black haired male shrugs, still grinning, offering no further explanation.

Takemichi turns his attention from his conversation with his boyfriend to a lower member, who was leaving the meeting now that it’d finished. The Black Dragon Commander waves goodbye with a small smile and soon enough, everyone is gone but Takemichi, Kokonoi and Inui. The younger turns his attention back to his elder boyfriend and huffs.

Inui, who came from seemingly nowhere, wraps an arm around Kokonoi’s shoulders and gives Takemichi a pointed look. “Come on, ‘Michi. You remember how much fun we had in the rain a couple months ago, what’s so different about snow, huh?”

Takemichi huffs once again and looks out the window for the nth time. He absentmindedly comments on how the snow was starting to pick up. He frowns. “I don’t like the snow,” Takemichi muttered softly.

No one says anything after that and the Black Dragon members leave the window and work on packing up all their stuff. They pick up all the discarded pens from the floor and place forgotten items in a small box at the back of the room — because, for some reason, the members of Black Dragons are especially forgetful.

The three of them then leave the building through a series of complex hallways. Inui makes a show of nearly dragging Takemichi behind him, excited to get out into the quickly thickening snow.

The youngests breath instantly fogs up as soon as they step outside. They exit the building onto a very busy street and the sounds of chatter enter their ears. That, on top of the snow, and Takemichi can almost appreciate the atmosphere it brings, almost.

Around, all of the people hurry to wherever their destination may be, eager to escape the snow that was slowly, but surely, beginning to pile up on the sidewalk.

Takemichi shivered and fastened his Black Dragon coat up to the last button. He glares at the snowflakes that softly float down, watching as they rest on the white wool before melting and vanishing in between the fibres. Inwardly, he cursed the weather forecast for giving him a false sense of security.

Takemichi, Inui and Kokonoi stand on the sidewalk for a couple seconds, relaxing and getting themselves used to the bustling atmosphere before the walk back to Takemichi’s house.

They’re just about to start heading home when a foreign object touches Takemichi’s nape and he jumps. He flinches away, but it’s quickly, carefully, wrapped snugly around his neck, draping over his shoulders.

A scarf.

Kokonoi appears in his peripheral vision and smiles, a thing almost as soft and warm as Takemichi reckoned the scarf was — it’s fitting.  “You looked cold,” he explained although he didn’t really need to, shrugging nonchalantly. Takemichi opens his mouth to retort, perhaps even argue against the kind gesture, insist it was wasn’t needed albeit appreciated, but he wasn’t able to get his words out before Inui walks past them, pulling Kokonoi ahead with him, leaving Takemichi gaping like a fish.

Quickly, the youngest gets left in his own thoughts before someone pushes past him, knocking him out of his mind just enough to make him realise where exactly he is.  Takemichi startles and starts to walk forwards, heading in the direction Inui and Kokonoi went. He spots them over the abundance of heads and pushes past people, eventually jogging when they start to get further away.

He becomes slightly panicked, his heart in his throat as he becomes so close yet so far. Fortunately, Takemichi eventually reaches them, not without skidding against the slightly icy snow and nearly falling flat on his face.

Thankfully, he’s caught by Inui, who just grins at him while the younger gets his bearings.  “Shut up,” he mutters, embarrassed. His cheeks flush as he shoves his hands into his pockets and burrowing himself deeper behind Kokonoi’s scarf. Inui puts his gloved hands up in surrender.

Several minutes later and the three of them are around ten minutes from Takemichi’s house. The snow is even heavier now — Takemichi didn’t even know that was possible, but here they are. The blonde’s hair is almost coated in a layer of snow by now, and every time he shakes it out, the white layer comes back in a matter of minutes.

The three walk in silence, just enjoying each others company, even though Takemichi is slightly peeved between them.

They stroll through a small park covered in pine trees. Their dark green spikes stand out beautifully against the white coat of snow and Takemichi finds himself mesmerised by it, even though he doesn’t really want to be.

The park is illuminated by street lamps every couple meters, but when they enter that space where the light is a little darker than everywhere else, Takemichi feels a sort of serendipity, how lucky is he to be with these two amazing people right now? His boyfriends. Fuck, now his cheeks feel warm!

Takemichi’s attention is turned from his cheeks to Inui when the elder leans down and scoops something into his hand. He’s just about to ask ‘what the hell are you doing?’ when Inui lobs something at his face.

His mouth is invaded by something cold, open from about to ask Inui the previous question. Takemichi chokes as the cold hits the back of his throat and he heaves, leaning over to place his hands on his knees.

“Whoops..” is all Inui says for an apology, shrugging sheepishly as Kokonoi rolls his eyes while rubbing Takemichi’s back.

“You’re an ass,” the youngest replies with a harsh glare, straightening out while spitting the rest the soft snow out of his mouth — most of it having already melted.

Inui just laughs, bellowed, “how was I supposed to know you’d open your mouth at that exact moment?!”

Takemichi huffs before reaching down and collecting a handful of his own snow. He compacts it into a ball and stands up once more. “Oh, we’re doing this? Right now?” Kokonoi asks with a small hint of amusement in his voice. The blondes only meet one another’s eyes before turning back to the other, who has the decency to look afraid.

A sudden bolt of electricity flows down Kokonoi’s spine. And just as fast as the snap of his fingers, the elder is off, running in the direction of Takemichi’s home with a high pitched laugh on his tongue.

Unfortunately, Kokonoi doesn’t get very far because he’s tackled by Inui. They end up in a tangle of limbs before Takemichi finally arrives — his shorter stature to blame — and the youngest can only watch them with adoration shining in his blue eyes.

They end up having a full on snowball fight, and a twenty minute walk home turns into a hour walk.

By the time they’re finished, the whole area they’re messing around in is almost flattened by the abundance of shoe prints, despite the ever increasing number of snowflakes that continue to fall.

Takemichi looks down at his pink tipped fingers and shoves them into his pockets, hoping to warm them up slightly. Then, turns around to look for Kokonoi’s scarf, that must of fallen off sometime during their fight.

Though, he doesn’t even need to look, because it’s just by his feet. Takemichi picks it up and dusts off the snow, before wrapping the scarf around his neck. But then, he stops, realising mid-action what he was doing.

He meets eyes with Kokonoi and unfastens it from around his neck. “Oh, Koko, I’m sorry, you probably want this back now, right?” he apologises softly, extending his arm to hand it over. But Kokonoi just shakes his head, and steps close to Takemichi. Carefully, but expertly, the black haired male wraps the scarf back around his neck, twisting it at the front to form a complicated knot that Takemichi probably couldn’t replicate if his life depended on it.

“Keep it,” Kokonoi whispers, and his cheeks flushed, while his smile was so, so gentle. Takemichi felt something warm bloom inside his chest, a common feeling when he’s around Kokonoi, “you need it more than I do. It suits you perfectly, so look after it, ’kay?”

“Y-yeah, alright,” the younger nods, hands coming up to touch the scarf, almost as if making sure it was actually there and he wasn’t having some sort of fever dream.

The three of them then walk back to Takemichi’s house, hugging as they hobble down the street. They stroll in a comfortable silence, side by side, arms touching and eyes upwards, watching the snowflakes drift down and cover Tokyo in a thin layer of ice and a peculiar atmosphere.

Takemichi closes his eyes, burrowing down until his chin and mouth were hidden behind the scarf, inhaling deeply as he smelled a scent so overwhelmingly Kokonoi, loving, comforting and familiar. It made him dizzy with feelings he knows all too well.

He allows the crisp cold air to fill his nostrils, listening to the sounds of music coming from the houses around with an almost detached serenity.

Spring

The cold air bit at Takemichi’s bare skin as he held down his large shirt — courtesy of Kokonoi’s wardrobe, his pyjama shorts only just visible from below the thin fabric.

Takemichi pays no attention to the nipping of his skin and keeps his focus on the wide sky above him. He shifts his weight and blinks at a passing star, his eyes tracking it until it fades from view. His, recently turned, black hair flys up as the wind does, flailing gently before settling like a nest on top of his head.

He lets out a long sigh, watching as it condensates into a small bubble before floating up into the nights sky above him, appearing so quickly before dissipating into nothing.

He wonders what Kokonoi or Inui would think if they knew he was out here at such a time. Would they shout at him scold him, but eventually join him? The miniature versions of his boyfriends on his shoulders say: “Why are you out here in just a shirt and shorts?” “It’s way too cold for that!” “Get back inside!”.

He lifts a hand to his hair and brushes the strands back, out of his eyes, before opening them, outstretching his hand to the vast darkness as if he had the ability grab it from the air. A space power for a time leaping power, would it be useful?

He smiles up.   The grass beneath Takemichi’s feet tickle up his bare legs as his skin begins to rise in minuscule goosebumps. He covers his arms and smiles at the sky once more before getting up, heading inside to his boyfriends arms.

Summer

Kokonoi climbs a hill of soft and fresh green grass.  The temperature has been slowly rising, towering up now into the high celsius, as if it wasn’t already bad enough, but Kokonoi wasn’t unsettled by that.

On even the hottest of days, he could be seen running around or chilling around the pool with his boyfriends. He liked to lie out in the sun, loving the opportunity to show off the muscles he was so very proud of.

Doing this gained him a lot of attention, and while he didn’t mind any flirting remarks a passing girl or the occasional boy, his boyfriends certainly did.

His boyfriend, Inui, unlike Kokonoi himself, had a constant need for air conditioning and icy floors. He was perfectly satisfied to crank up the air-con and hibernate through the sticky air outside with a nice book and a glass of ice cold water.

As much as Kokonoi was content to spend all day with Inui as he tried to cower away in the coolness, the alluring blazing days and wide skies dragged him away into the beckoning arms of the outdoors.

Inui, along with Takemichi, though it depended often because the youngest would occasionally join Kokonoi, were perfectly happy with amusedly watching Kokonoi run around in circles like some sort of feral animal, before he ran to them and tried to drag them too.

Today, though, Inui was not inside — extremely out of character, but then again, Inui is the spontaneous type.  For some reason, Inui had decided today was the day he was going venture into the overbearing vacuum of thirty degree weather.

It didn’t take long to find Inui when Kokonoi went out looking, thankfully. He found the boy lying on the grass, arms and legs slightly spread, palms up to the light blue sky, surprisingly wearing only some loose shorts, his t-shirt tossed carelessly to the side of him.

Inui’s hair was laying free so it splayed under and around him, light tendrils weaving around the blades surrounding his head. A tall tree loomed over him, cloaking him in a quilt of spotted sunlight as the shadows nestled together like puzzle pieces. He looked rather peaceful, eyes closed and face commonly blank.

“Hey,” Kokonoi announced his presence after staring at him for a few moments.

A small smile formed on Inui’s lips. The black haired male broke into a grin at that alone and walked over to Inui, plopping less-than-gracefully down next to him. “Hm,” was the all the acknowledgment Kokonoi was blessed with, small and quiet but he heard it nonetheless.

He ran a hand through some of the long blonde hair, complemented by the vibrant blades of green. “How come you’re out here, you just be boiling, huh? You’re more an Arctic fox than a lion,” Kokonoi teased, twisting Inui’s hair in between his long fingers.

“Just wanted a change,” he replied seamlessly, unbothered by Kokonoi’s jabs. His eyes remain closed as the trees leaves wave above them, splaying their shadow across the grass and their faces. He watches as the corner of the elders lip quirks slightly, trying to fight the amusement that tickles at his sides.

“Quite a sudden one though, don’t you think?” Inui contemplated playfully hitting Kokonoi but decided it wasn’t worth the energy, not in this blistering heat.

Kokonoi let his eyes trace over every delicate feature of Inui’s face, his long eyelashes and cute nose, before letting his gaze wander — his elegantly beautiful collar bone, the bumps of his rib cage, the way his chest rises with his calming breaths. He runs a hand up the object of his affection, letting his fingers drum across Inui’s ribs.

Sighing, he smiles once more, though the elder can’t see it. Leaning down, he presses a soft kiss to Inui’s forehead. The elder shifts his head slightly, clearly searching, unknowingly making Kokonoi’s heart flutter. He bends over again and cups Inui’s cheek with one hand while the other supported his weight on the grass. He then gently presses their lips together.

The black haired male then pulls back a few inches, but continues to hover over him, placing a few more chaste kisses here and there at random intervals. It was one of those lazy, slow kisses, so slow and gentle it makes Kokonoi’s heart melt.

“Careful, you don’t want to burn. They can be quite painful,” someone speaks to Inui’s side. They both jump and turn their attention to the figure, tense and on guard — Inui’s eyes even snap open in alarm — but they quickly relax when they realise it’s Takemichi.

“Fuck, when’d you get here?” Inui asks exasperatedly, flopping back onto the cool grass with a fast beating heart. Curse Takemichi for his ability to be completely silent when he wants to be — or, then again, maybe he and Kokonoi were just that caught up in their feelings, both are liable.

The youngest checks the small watch on his hand and raises his eyebrow, “hmm, like three minutes ago. Don’t mind me, you can continue.”

Inui just rolls his eyes before reaching up to wrap his slender fingers around Kokonoi’s neck to pull him down. "So considerate," he murmurs in reply to Takemichi, almost slurred as his eyes become lidded.

Kokonoi complies to Inui’s pull with a satisfied noise, conforming his body to Inui’s side, ignoring Takemichi’s presence for the time being.

A few minutes passed and the three of them lay there, blades of grass tickling their ears. At some point Inui started to hum a soothing melody, low voice lulling the black haired male into a half conscious state of suffocating bliss.

How Kokonoi wishes they could spend all their days like this..
