“You’re not supposed to be able to do that.”
Edward grins, pleased with the praise. He slips his wrists out of the handcuffs for perhaps the third time since Bruce had tightened them.
“That wasn’t supposed to be a compliment, Nygma.”
“You say the sweetest things, Bats. But look, on again! Oops! Off again! Is this really the most complex set of cuffs you have?”
“Considering you’re about to be-”
“Handed over to justice, blah blah blah, go easy on yourself. But you know me- I’m never one to go easy.”
Fed up with the escape artistry, Bruce grabs Edward’s hands in his own and clenches them. “Stop fooling around.”
“I never do that either.” Edward’s nimble fingers are now curling over Bruce’s gloves. “Not bad. A bit thicker than I’m used to- now, where is the weak point…?”
“I don’t have a weak point.”
“Of course you do. Everyone does. I’ll prove it- the weak point of whoever designed those cuffs is their brain. Don’t tell me it was you, Batsy!”
“It wasn’t,” Bruce growls.
“Oh, good. You nearly had me worried.”
"You're not making this easier on yourself."
"Same old growly Bats. Change your act a little! And change those cuffs. They've begun to bore me. And you know what happens when I get bored."
Bruce jerks his chin over to point at the wreckage of green-paint-splattered building rubble. "Let me guess."
"Don't bother." Edward pivots and jerks his wrists free. "Another cuff bites the dust…!"
Bruce grabs him again, swinging him up and over one shoulder. "That's enough out of you, Houdini."
"You do say the sweetest things-!"
