Summary
Benny, just Benny (Thank you very much), is content to be discontented. There was nothing he could do about his mad king, about the wicked war, or his current enlistment as one of the millions of nameless Nohrian soldiers. All he can really ask for out of life is his pick of patrols, allowing him precious time to isolate in his own little world outside of civilization. In a place without any humans, the place where he found the most peace and felt no fear.
Nishiki, the kitsune chief to be (And don't forget it!), is discontented with content. It was his duty to do something about the forced concealment, about their loss of connection to the human world from Hoshido to Nohr, and all the favors he owes to the dear friends he was torn away from. All he hopes for out of life is to go back to the old ways, when the humans were not feared, but friends! When they lived together peacefully, when no one locked their doors and promises were never broken.
Yet in the land where the night never ends, what hope could either of them have had for their dreams ever coming to reality?
And now, after their dreams have ended... What comes next?

“Wade,” Althea groaned, dragging a hand over her face. “Jesus Christ, I literally walked in on you two doing the devil's tango the other day and you're asking if he likes you?”
“Come on, Althea, grow up. You know you don’t have to like-like someone to have sex, I do it all the time,” Wade said. “Did it all the time,” he added at a lower volume, realizing yeah, fuck, he’d hadn’t had sex with anyone but Logan in months.
“Oh my God, you are stupid for him, aren’t you? Fucking embarrassing.”
“This is serious!”
“If it’s so damn serious, then take it serious,” Althea snapped. “You’re goofing off, just like you do with everything else. So you tell me why I’m supposed to think this is any different?”
Wade opened his mouth to retort, then shut it, sinking back onto the couch.
“. . . because I think I like-like him,” Wade mumbled.
Althea sighed, shaking her head. “You’re such a moron.”

Bright lights adorned the vanities that lined the walls, reflecting in the mirrors in a way that Ann needed to adjust to. Pushing herself to sit up, she recognized her place of rest not as the bed, but a cot pushed up against the wall of the curious room. The walls were a cushioned blue, which was already odd, but stranger still was Ann's new attire—a shimmery velvet dress that she most certainly did not own.
"Good evening," greeted a voice, deep and gruff, drawing Ann's attention toward the figure sitting at a desk in the middle of the room.
His desk appeared to be a vanity of sorts as well, but where a mirror should be there was only an open space, functioning more as a frame than as a proper dressing table. Beside him stood a young girl—perhaps some years younger than Ann—who simply stood at attention, silent. The strange man regarded Ann with an off-putting grin, propping his chin up on the backs of his hands. "Welcome to the Velvet Room."
