Chapter Text
It was absolutely agitating.
Shu felt like he was about to smash his head against the nearest wall.
However he kept his composure, taking note that he was in public and that he'd have to suppress his rage just for a little bit longer.
Today was the anniversary of he and his partner's one year relationship, so naturally he felt content at the beginning of of the day.
However, as the day progressed small misfortune accidents kept happening to him, as if preparing him for something worse to come later. First a half-witted boy with his head on the clouds bumped onto him when he was heading to school, spilling whatever hot drink he was drinking on Shu's newly made winter coat.
Shu had to keep himself from losing his temper over there, or else he would waste time on a complete stranger and the school doors would lock and leave him outside and away from his almost finished works in the handicrafts room. So with a heavy sigh and a glare towards the culprit of his murdered now winter coat, he resumed his way to Yumenosaki Academy.
Everything was going so well for a good two to three hours that he had spent skipping class and instead spending all of his time focused on finishing his own sewing projects in the handicrafts club, which he currently was the only member of. Nevertheless, nothing can stay as you want it for too long, at least that was what Shu was thinking when he noticed the tiniest of mistakes on the jacket of one of his outfits.
It was a silver button that he must have placed there by mistake, because all the other buttons were a shining golden color and this one just felt wrong amongst them, it didn't exactly please Shu's eye and in that case had to be removed immediately.
So that was what Shu was about to do, he pulled on the button slightly, so much that its meticulously sown threads were visible to him and him alone. He then grabbed a small pair of scissors and placed it in-between the threads and his finger for balance. And just as he was about to go for the cut-
"NATSUME KUN ARE YOU IN HERE?"
"AUGH!" Shu groaned in pain, both mental and physical, upon realizing whom that voice belonged to.
"Aoba! Would you care to explain what on earth you're doing here, screaming like a maniac?!" He turned around to glare at the intruder.
"Ah..I'm sorry Itsuki-kun!" Tsumugi yelped, not expecting to being yelled at so suddenly.
"Get to the point Aoba, what do you want?" Shu asked exasperated.
"I think Natsume-kun exploded and he turned invisible, so I'm looking around for him" Tsumugi explained anxiously glancing around the room for a sign of the red-head.
"I don't care if that boy finally exploded himself with his little magic shenanigans, but I can surely assure you that he is not here." Shu replied with a glare, finally looking down at the blood dripping from his hand.
He tried to hide it behind his other hand, so that Tsumugi wouldn't feel inclined to help him if he saw it. He needed him gone as soon as he appeared and disrupted his peace and quiet.
"O-Oh well.. in that case, I'm sorry for barging in like this..!" He said and bowed quickly.
However as he noticed that the only reply Shu was giving him was a menacing glare, he quickly bowed and excused himself from the handicrafts club room.
Shu sighed heavily to himself.
'Great.' He thought, now he was injured and his work had just been turned into a more mundane task.
As he turned to examine his long forgotten work behind him, he cringed at the sight of blood that lay on the silky fabric of the once white jacket he was making.
He thought that after so many unfortunate events, it was bound for something nice to happen.
Two negatives make a positive after all, it's simple math.
Oh, he couldn't have been more wrong though, as his boyfriends was making his way to him with a not so pleasant surprise.
"You want to break up?" Shu asked confused.
Nazuna nodded, not meeting his gaze.
"I don't understand why though. Aren't you haply to be my doll Nito? Weren't we in love mon chéri?"
Nazuna grimaced a bit.at Shu's choice of words and turned to.look at hik with a pained expression.
"I'm sorry" He said "I don't think that it's working out between us.. and this is not what I want and you deserve better."
Nazuna paused for a second and finally he said "I hope you find someone that meets all your expectations"
Shu was too stunned to speak.
He was furious yes, he was heart broken also yes. But he mostly felt betrayed.
Nazuna was the only one that hadn't decided to shun him like the rest of the school. He was the only one that didn't portray him as the villain, that didn't see him as a malicious person.
But he guessed that wasn't true anymore..
Nazuna remained there, standing straight and now looking directly into his eyes with a strange sort of courage lingering behind his orbs.
"Fine then. Leave." Shu replied plainly, a strict tone and face concealing his true emotions.
Nazuna still stared at him, now looking a little puzzled.
Had he perhaps expected mode from him ? More anger? More rage?
"If you're expecting me to get upset, then you're mistaken. So, you're free to excuse yourself. I'm sure you're pretty accustomed to that by now, since you've seen plenty of that before. It should not be problem for you."
"Shu-" Nazuna began to form a sentence slowly, but he was cut abruptly.
"NON! Leave this instant!" Shu growled and slammed his hands on the table behind him, several threads and needles falling on the floor from the force.
His back was turned, so Nazuna couldn't see his face, but he could very well notice the rushed breaths his ex-boyfriend was taking.
Nazuna felt guilty, and almost regretted his actions, but he reminded himself of his purpose and the reason he had decided to break up with the pink haired artist in the first place, so he slowly made his way to the door and left without a single goodbye coming out of his mouth. A strange combination of guilt and liberation enveloped him as he closed the door to the handicrafts clubroom shut, but he savored it nonetheless and marched with his back straight, down the hall and away from the club room where a meltdown was probably going to take place.
Yeah, today was definitely not Shu's day.
Fabrics were thrown across the room and scissors were thrusted on the wall opposite of the pink haired silhouette that stood fiercely above the sea of disarray.
His eyes stung with hot tears that practically begged him to be let out, but his pride got in the way once again.
He couldn't cry now, not at school.
Not with the possibility that someone he knew could catch him sobbing like a baby and then spread the rumor around again.
He had to leave.
Now.
He packed his stuff quickly in his bag and marched down the quiet hallways of Yumenosaki Academy with a burning feeling at the back of his throat.
He didn't care about anything as he made his way outside the school, he hadn't realized if he accidentally pushed or ignored someone on his way out, his thoughts were too loud for his liking and he needed to get out of that God forsaken school.
The walk to his house was of course rushed and he was panting by the time he reached the gates of his house, grasping at one of the cold metal bars for support as he tried to catch his breath for a second.
His gaze had lowered to the ground. And when his eyes finally focused, he noticed something peculiar laying on the snow, just a few meters away from him.
Slowly he unlocked the frozen metal gates and stepped foot into his snowy garden.
He bent to his knees and there he found perhaps one of the most beautiful things he had laid his eyes upon.
There in the snow, laid a porcelain doll of a boy with mismatched eyes, the colors of rich amber and bright lapis lazuli, staring back at him with a glimmer of what seemed like hopeful melancholy.
His hair was as dark as the night and his clothes were elegant.
Shu gaped at the sight of him.
'Who could throw such a beautiful doll away?' He thought and picked the porcelain boy up.
Upon closer examination though, the doll's face was cracked and it clearly seemed that this doll had been mistreated for a long time.
Yet Shu still marveled at the sight of him.
"How cruel..."He said to the doll.
"How could someone have the heart to do such a thing to you dear?"
"If it were me, you wouldn't have a scratch on that lovely face of yours" Shu said as he was findling with his keys.
"I hope you will find my humble residence adequate to your standards from now on dear. " He said before closing the entrance door to his house and leaving the cold and harsh winter outside.
He was soon to be enveloped by his sorrows after all.
