Before waking up as Cale Henituse, Kim Rok Soo had read the fantasy romance novel, The Birth of a Hero.
The Birth of a Hero follows Choi Han’s adventures and blooming love story with the female lead, Rosalyn.
Rosalyn was the princess of the Breck Kingdom before she relinquished her title and pursued her dreams of becoming a powerful mage. After leaving the kingdom, she is attacked by an unknown group of assailants. While recovering, she meets Choi Han, who unknowingly leads her to her assailants. Rosalyn, wanting to repay Choi Han, helps track down the people who attacked Harris Village.
They find clues about the organization that performed both ambushes. They’re then guided to the Plaza of Glory, where the organization plan to bomb. They’re luckily able to save the royal family, peaking the interest of the crown prince, Alberu Crossman.
Alberu Crossman, a crafty and sly bastard, takes notice of how useful Choi Han and Rosalyn may be in the future. As he starts accompanying the two on their journeys, he slowly develops feelings for the smart, confident and talented Rosalyn. While the feelings are unrequited, it still stirs conflict between him and Choi Han.
While Kim Rok Soo had only read up to the fifth volume, it was very clear that Rosalyn is not into the crown prince and instead has feelings for Choi Han; she doesn’t act on them because of the war that’s raging in the Roan Kingdom.
But what concerned Kim Rok Soo, now Cale, more is how the original Cale Henituse was beaten up by Choi Han in volume one.
“That isn’t ideal,” Cale mumbled.
He didn’t like pain and getting beat up to near death would be very painful.
Kim Rok Soo, who had become Cale, had a very simple life motto.
Live long without pain, enjoy the small joys in life, and live a peaceful life.
“I just need to make the story proceed normally while not getting beat up, the main character will take care of the rest.”
Cale smiled and relaxed in the warm water of the bathtub, this trash’s situation is much better than when he was Kim Rok Soo. Cale Henituse was the firstborn of an extremely wealthy noble family, meaning he can afford many luxuries.
The original Cale Henituse loved extravagant clothes and expensive gifts. He especially adored wine. While he loved drinking, he threw tantrums when drunk, regarding him with the title of trash.
While most would be hindered by the original’s trashy behaviour, Kim Rok Soo was pleased. Being known as trashy would help him lose the scarily strong people around him.
He needed to be strong enough to protect himself from danger. The continent would soon be at war and to survive he needs to be at least a bit strong. He already had a couple of ideas on how.
As he shook the water out of his hair, he concluded his plan.
‘Don’t get beat up, acquire an ancient power, make Ron and Beacrox go with Choi Han and then live a peaceful life as trash.’
Cale got out of the tub and put on his bathrobe. “That should be simple.”
He smiled, everything would go according to plan.
('Everything did not go to plan…' Cale thought, frowning at the ragtag crew that insisted on following him. He can’t understand why such powerful beings are so resolute on sticking around trash like him.
With strong beings around him, he’s practically attracting trouble!
He’ll never obtain his slacker life like this!)
