Soulmarks are mystical things. To a quarter Dark Elf raised in paranoia and a human surviving on fantasies, they mean very different things. Cale Henituse falls in love with his soulmark when he first sees it, and when he meets the person he shares it with, loving a prince with a few too many secrets doesn't seem like too hard a task. It's just a shame that the prince in question doesn't also share his perspective.
