Wish on a Star

Summary:

Prompt fill for an anon on Tumblr. They asked for Kaiser / Isagi + "Stars"

-----

Kaiser and Isagi get so caught up in each other when they finally reunite after time apart. If wishes on stars could come true, they would wish to be together forever. But, the small wishes they make in the moment are almost as good.

Work Text:

“I’m so sorry, but we are going to have to close up soon…”

Pausing mid sentence, Isagi and Kaiser looked up at their waitress, timidly interrupting their conversation.  Isagi had the grace to look ashamed, but Kaiser smiled warmly, making the waitress flush as he pulled out his wallet.

“So sorry about that.  I believe this will cover our meal, and the inconvenience to you and the staff who had to wait for us to finish up.”

The waitress tried to push the money back towards Kaiser, overwhelmed at the extravagant tip, but he simply smiled as he stood, slipping his coat over his arm.  Grabbing Isagi’s jacket, he ushered him outside, into the crisp night air.

“God, that was embarrassing…. I can’t believe we stayed until closing!” Isagi mumbled, accepting his coat from Kaiser’s hands.

“What, haven’t you had dinner for four hours before?” Kaiser teased, slipping his hand into Isagi’s as they walked away from the restaurant.  “It’s to be expected really, it's been a couple of months since we’ve been able to go out as just the two of us.”

Isagi nodded in agreement, still a bit surprised that they were able to turn dinner into such a long affair. The sun was still shining brightly when they went into the restaurant, but as they got wrapped up in conversation, they just got carried away.

It was always like that when they were together.  As soon as he had stepped off of the plane and met Kaiser at the airport earlier that day, it was like the entire world fell away and it was just the pair of them.  They were entirely caught up in their own orbit, and regard for the people around them just vanished until they had a hard knock of reality shoot them back to earth. .

Like a waitress letting them know that their 7 o’clock dinner reservations had turned into a walk down the streets of the German city Kaiser called home.

Isagi felt his cheeks flush as he remembered the shy way the waitress approached them, clearly not wanting to interrupt despite wanting to go home herself.  Isagi couldn’t even blame her because hell, if he was in her shoes, he would also be hesitant to disrupt them.  What with the way they leaned across the table towards each other, smiling so wide it hurt their cheeks as they caught up after reuniting.

Isagi sighed, squeezing Kaiser’s fingers tightly as they walked down the quiet streets.  A car passed here and there, but for the most part, the city was wrapping up and going to bed for the night.  The thought made Isagi yawn, and he couldn’t wait to crawl into Kaiser’s plush king sized bed.  It had been a long day of traveling with their reunion to top it all off, and while he wanted to spend as much time as he could with Kaiser, he also couldn’t wait to use him as a pillow for the next eight hours.

Kaiser chuckled as he yawned again, amused by his sleepy little boyfriend, dropping his hand briefly to wrap an arm around his shoulders to give him a tight squeeze.

“I’m really glad you’re here, Yoichi,” Kaiser mused, pressing his face to the top of Isagi’s head with a fond sigh as they waited at a crosswalk on a busier street. “It’s never the same without you.”

Isagi smiled, leaning in to Kaiser as he wrapped an arm around his waist, squeezing him back before responding that he was glad to be here too.

As the crosswalk changed, allowing them to walk towards Kaiser’s residence once again, Kaiser reclaimed Isagi’s hand, letting it swing between them as they strolled down the street.  Despite having so many more things to say, they found themselves in a comfortable silence, broken only by the whoosh of vehicles and the soft sound of Kaiser humming a peppy tune.  Isagi looked up at him, enjoying the way Kaiser’s lips were pressed into a soft smile, suppressing the sounds of his humming just enough to not be a nuisance.

Kaiser seemed to know when Isagi was staring, and decided to steal a kiss without breaking their stride as payback. Isagi sputtered, his cheeks heating again as they continued.  Refusing to look at him again, Isagi distracted himself by staring up at the night sky, the stars hidden by the light of the city, and only a distant twinkle or passenger plane visible in the sky above.

“Yoichi, look!” Kaiser pointed at the sky, directing his attention towards…nothing? But distracting him enough to allow Kaiser to grab his chin, placing another soft kiss on his lips.  Isagi’s cheeks burned, slapping Kaiser’s hands away, before stomping off down the sidewalk.

“Yoichi, wait! There was a shooting star, you see!” Kaiser jogged to catch back up with him, grabbing his sleeve between his fingers.

“Yeah right! You were just messing with me like you always do!”

“No, I swear I wasn’t!” Kaiser promised, drawing a cross over his heart. “I wished that I could kiss you again, and my wish came true, so there must have been a star, right?”

Isagi huffed, slowing down so Kaiser could grab his hand again.  They weren’t far from Kaiser’s home now if he remembered correctly, and he couldn’t wait to be inside the warm air inside.

“Well if there was a star, I wish that you would have waited until we got inside.”

Pulling his keys from his pocket, a devious grin grew on Kaiser’s face.  Isagi knew he had made a slight mistake in his words, though he doubted it would be a mistake he would regret later.

“Wait until we get inside?  Well, I can surely kiss you again behind closed doors, but are you sure that is all you want, Yoichi?”

Isagi contemplated the question, standing behind Kaiser as he fiddled with his keys before placing them in the lock of his home.

“Do I need another star to make a wish?”

“Now, Yoichi, you know you don’t need a star for me to make all of your dreams come true.”
