"It doesn't make any sense, Lapis! An old red man does not deliver presents every year!" Peridot shouted, agitated, Lapis just smiled.
"It's just a story."
Peridot stomped her foot. "It's a dumb story! Stories are real things! This isn't real!"
"Not all stories are real, Peri. Like Camp pining Hearts. That doesn't tell a real story, but you still like it."
"Camp pining Hearts is a masterpiece!"
"I never said it wasn't." Lapis pointed out, laughing a little.
"Yeah, but....Christmas is dumb and only clods celebrate it!"
"Okay, then don't celebrate Christmas."
"What else am I supposed to celebrate?"
Lapis shrugged. "Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule. I don't know, there are a lot of options. You don't have to celebrate anything if you don't want to."
"Hmm." Peridot thought. "What will you be celebrating?"
"Probably Christmas. It's easier."
"Easier?"
"It's what the rest of the group does, so...." Lapis shrugged.
"I'm gonna do Christmas." Peridot said resolutely.
"We don't have to do the same thing."
"I'm doing Christmas!"
"Okay, okay." Lapis conceded with a laugh.
She loved her partner.
