Femininity doesn't = Female, Masculinity doesn't = Male, but Sometimes it Does

Summary:

'Draco' Malfoy is a trans girl, but she hasn't told her 'girlfriend' Holly Potter yet.

Notes:

I own nothing.

Clearly I like T4T couples coming out to each other, lol.

Work Text:

Monday, December 16th, 1996

Ivy Malfoy gazed into the mirror in front of her. Her hair, shoulder-length and blonde, was being pulled behind her ears by a crown looking headband. She was wearing a 'dark natural' makeup look. Basically, she took her natural colors and darkened them. So, pink lips got blood red lipstick, brownish eyelashes got black mascara, etc. Her clothes contributed to the regal look. A silky, long, dark green dress, charmed to keep warm, going down to her ankles. Her shoes being black, healed, boots. Ivy's nails didn't quite match the aesthetic being sparkly pink, but Ivy didn't care. It was her favorite color.

Ivy wanted to look perfect today. She wanted Holly to see her as she was. She wanted a cute outfit to celebrate her girlfriends acceptance in. She wanted a feminine look to comfort her when she was rejected. She wanted to look like the other girls her age. She wanted to be like the other girls her age.

It was 8:02...Holly was supposed to arrive at 8:00....Of course she was late as always.

8:05.

8:10.

8:11.

Holly burst into the room of requirement with her short curls bouncing around her head, wearing a Gryffindor sweater, jeans, and converse. As fashionably inept as usual. Ivy thought she look beautiful, as always.

Holly didn't seem surprised to see her 'boyfriend' in such feminine clothes, despite 'him' never wearing them. "Hey, Draco. Sorry, I'm late, slept in a bit. You look nice in that dress." It was all spoken very fastly, she was out of breath.

"Aw, thanks, Hols."

"'Course, babe." Holly replied, giving a dramatic wink.

"I was actually thinking of wearing dresses and makeup more often. It makes me feel more like myself. More feminine." Ivy explained, panicking on the inside, but sounding nearly bored on the out.

"And you want to feel feminine?" It wasn't judgmental, just a genuine question.

"Yes, because I'm a girl."

"You are?" Another real question "Okay."

"'Okay'?"

"What else should I say? You're a girl. Okay."

"Are you okay with it?"

"Yes." Holly seemed confused why it would ever be an issue.

"And are we still together? As in dating?"

"Of course! You know I'm bisexual, why would I not be attracted to you because you're a girl?"

"Not because I'm a girl. Because I'm trans."

"That's the same thing."

"Well, yeah, but....Nevermind."

"It really isn't a big deal Draco-"

"Ivy."

"It really isn't a big deal Ivy. You're my girlfriend, and I love you. Very few things will change that, but certainly not gender."

"Really?" Ivy just had to confirm.

"Really. Besides....It would be hypocritical of me to dislike you being trans anyway because...I'm a boy."

"Y-you are?"

"Yeah." Holly rubbed his neck "I've been thinking of telling you, but I figured I would wait a little. At least until I picked a new name, but...this seemed like a better time."

Ivy nodded. "Wow....I mean, I guess this isn't too surprising, you're you after all, but wow. I never imagined today would go so well."

"Oh, Ivy, princess."

"What?"

"I love you."

Ivy smiled. "I love you too...dork."
