i will hang out in your feelings until the end of time

Summary:

After highschool, our main characters diverge paths in life career-wise, but stay in touch.

Like, really stay in touch. They all live together now.

Benny is a student with a part-time job at the campis coffee shop, Ethan is a game tester, Rory is an author (he tried college, it sucked) who specializes in Vampire YA (he's creating new lore by the chapter), Sarah is a student who works at a multitude of places, and Erica is taking some classes while working at at least two restaurants at all time.

They're all in some kind of domestic situationship, but no one is talking about it for some reason.

Chapter Text

Rory wakes up late, just like always. At this point, it’s not even late for him, it’s just normal, but the others insist that waking up past noon is psychotic.

Since the whole ‘turning’ thing, he’s needed a lot less rest, but something about the recent developments in his life have him tired almost contantly.

Case in point: Benny enters his room and just perches at the end of his bed, babbling about something or other while Rory struggles to come to. He’s speaking with familiarity and genuity, like he really does want to be talking to Rory right now.

“-and Ethan has the week before Christmas off, so I think we’re probably just gonna put up the tree then? Sarah and Erica don’t really seem to care, so. Is that all good with you?”

Rory blinks, taking all that in.

“Rory?” Benny pries further, leaning his head towards Rory, beckoning.

“Uh, yeah, that’s fine,” Rory croaks, bringing a hand to his hair. He’s always had the most ridiculous bed head, which is highly embarrassing, in his opinion, but Benny doesn’t comment. He smiles, flashing his sharp teeth that rival the ones of the actual goddamn vampires in the house, and gets up to leave the room.

Not without giving a ruffle to Rory’s hair first, though, and then a kiss right on the crown of his head.

It’s comforting, and it’s nice, but Rory thinks he might be missing out on something that everyone else is clued into. This never used to happen. Benny never used to kiss him on the head, Erica never used to hold hands with Ethan during movie nights, Sarah never used to help Benny get the swoop in his hair just right every morning.

He thinks he might, maybe, possibly, kind of, accidentally be in a bit of a relationship situation with his recent housemates/all four of his friends.

This is going to be hard to explain to his mom.
