Chapter Text
Leo stares up at the ceiling, his mind blank. He tries to force himself to shut his eyes and fall asleep, but it’s no use. He just doesn’t fell comfortable and despite being so, so tired, his body isn’t allowing him to sleep.
Its been going on ever since the Krang. Well, he did one night get some sleep, but it was plagued by nightmares. Maybe he couldn’t sleep now because he couldn’t bare having another nightmare.
That sounds pathetic.. Leo is supposed to be strong and fearless. He shouldn’t be scared over a nightmare. He can imagine his brothers are probably sleeping right now and it makes him jealous. Jealous they can fall asleep so easily compared to him.
Leo’s skin crawls and he has the sudden urge to leave to the surface. Maybe it’ll do him soon good. He’ll get fresh air and it’s a good way to waste some time instead of rotting away in his bed.
He slowly lifts himself up, cringing when the bed creaks loudly. Ever since the Krang they’ve made a rule that nobody is aloud to go out to the surface alone (unless emergency). But, it’ll only be for 5 minutes so it doesn’t really matter right now.
Leo opens his door and slides out quickly. It’s deathly silent and dark in the lair and he feels like even a quietest noise could wake his brothers.
When he eventually gets to the surface, he hesitates a moment before shaking his head. You’ve came all this way, you can’t just turn back now.
The surface is much louder. He can hear sirens and cars not too far off in the distance. Leo assumes it wasn’t raining too long ago since the ground is wet and there are puddles everywhere. He feels strangely calmer out here, away from any stress he had.
Leo decides that he should probably start moving in case any of his brothers did in fact realise he left. He wants to stay a little longer, atleast.
He climbs up the nearest building and starts hopping onto different roofs. The wind blows and howls around him, and when he finds a nice place to settle, he sits on the edge of a tall building.
Only a couple stars are scattered in the sky because of the cities light pollution. It still looks pretty, like the stars are beaming down onto him, and down below, the city lights are bright and for a moment his grip on the edge of the roof loosens for a moment.
But it’s quickly put into a tight one again. Not now, he thinks to himself. Sure, it would be a pretty place to die, but he couldn’t bare the thought of leaving his brothers without an explanation.
For now, he’d much rather just sit and relax and let his thoughts just wander off.

Mikey enters the kitchen, rubbing at his eyes. He’s usually the last to wake and when he does the others are all gathered in the kitchen for breakfast.
Donnie and Raph are already eating. There’s two other plates on the table, for him and Leo. Speaking of Leo.. Mikey doesn’t fail to spot he’s not here.
”Where’s Leo?” Mikey asks, though he doesn’t panic too much. He’s probably just in the bathroom or sleeping.
”Not sure, he hasn’t came yet.” Raph answers when the swallows his food, glancing up to Mikey. “Must be sleeping still.”
Mikey nods, sitting down. He digs into his food. He is practically always hungry so he finishes his food fast, shortly followed by his brothers.
”You know, you’d think Leo would be here by now,” Donnie places his plate in the sink, turning to the others. “Should someone go check on him? He has been acting.. off ever since the you know what.”
”I’ll go see.” Raph chimes in, and is gone off to Leo’s room in a blink of an eye.
Raph is about to open Leo’s door when he realises it’s already open. He raises and eyebrow, pushing the door fully open. He huffs when Leo’s bed is empty.
“Maybe he‘s gone to the bathroom,” he mutters, making his way across the hall to the bathroom. But, it is empty. No sight of Leo. Raph then can’t really hide the panic, and rushes off back to the kitchen. “Leo’s not here!” he half-yells, watching as eyes brothers both pause.
”Did you check the bathroom?” Donnie finally speaks
”Yes, I thought he’d be there too, but he’s not!”
“Let’s just search the lair, maybe he’s just hiding somewhere?” Mikey suggests, faintly smiling. “Leo couldn’t have just dissapeared out of nowhere.”
Donnie and Raph nod, and they all split different ways to search for their missing brother.
