"I can get him out," Bernie says.
She knows how important Bucky is to Steve. She knows how much they love each other. Besides that, Bucky is an innocent man. It's her job as a lawyer and a human being to ensure he's freed.
"Thank you, Bernie," Steve says. "I hoped you would say that. He… he's not to blame."
"He's not," Bernie agrees. "We'll get your man home, I promise."
Steve smiles at her, clearly grateful.
Bernie keeps her promise, though it does take a couple of months. She smiles when Bucky is free and when he kisses Steve.
