Work Text:
Reki woke up at the ass crack of dawn. Langa knew this, he woke up at 4:00 sharp to go to the gym with Joe every Tuesday before his classes. This morning however, was different. Reki invited Langa to come along and join him and Joe on their workout.
“Langa wake your ass up, it’s 4:30, you need to get ready if you’re going.” Reki shook the blue haired man awake. “Langa get the hell up I made chorizo.” Langa groaned but stretched and groggily went to the kitchen at the promise of food.
“Wow, chorizo will wake you up but I can’t? The double standard!”
“Yeah yeah, the anarchy.” Langa said sarcastically as he ate a plate full of chorizo. He looked at what Reki was wearing and was shocked that it was actually put together. Red running shoes, black sweatpants, and a white shirt.
‘Why does he have to look so damn pretty before he works out?’
“Alright, go change. I should have some old workout clothes you can borrow, unless you want to go like that hello kitty boy?”
“Nope I’ll get changed, where are the clothes?”
“In the top dresser drawer, hurry up because it’s already 4:51 and the first bus arrives at 5:10.” Langa got up and speed walked to their bedroom and went into the dresser to see what was there. He dug around for a minute to see what would actually fit and found a lilac tank top with some grey basketball shorts to go with it. He quickly changed and hurried out to the living room.
“Okay, I’m ready. Race you to the bus stop?”
“Oh hell yeah!”
…
“I’m so sore, oh my lord. How do you do this weekly?”
“What do you mean?” Reki took a swig from a can of Red Bull. “That was just the stretching, we haven’t even started the real workout!” He looked lively as he began digging through his gym bag, grabbing a water bottle and handed it to Langa.
“Reki!” Joe slung his arm around him as he smiled seeing the kid he viewed as his own son. “How’s my favorite Red Bull? You record workout videos, you might get sponsored by them. Always drink that stuff, swear on it kid.”
“Actually it’s my got laid juice,” he flipped his hair and walked over to the treadmill. “If only I actually got fucking laid.” The last park was mumbled under his breath but Langa and Joe could still hear it as he set up the treadmill for himself. He called over Langa and showed him how to set up the treadmill and pick how fast it would go. Langa went on the lowest setting and watched as Reki plugged in his headphones and started to hum a song as he ran on the treadmill. Langa liked when Reki sang, it was one of his favorite things other than snowboarding and skateboarding.
“You like Reki, don’t you kid?” Joe asked from behind. Making Langa physically jump. “You’re so obvious, you know that Snow?”
“You can’t so casually! And why are you saying this! I most definitely don’t!” Langa was hot bright red, the absolute gall of this man!
“Yea, it’s written all over your face. Anyways tell Reki I’m going to go shower and leave, Kaoru wants me home before 7 to meet the cats he found at the shelter he works at.”
“Bye but if I do like Reki what do I do? Like, I can’t tell him ‘hey Reki! I can make you drink your got laid juice a reality!’ Because that just sounds wrong!”
“Figure it out kiddo, bye we’ll let you meet the cats later this week!” He waved and jogged to the gym showers. Langa tapped Reki on his shoulder, making him turn around and take out his earbud.
‘There were no survivors from this massacre and the killer was never found. Witness from outside the building said a woman walked out of the building after the killings and was never found aga-‘
Langa looked to the earbud, then to Reki’s phone, then to Reki. “You seriously scare me with that shit, anyways you ready to go? My muscles feel like liquid rubber.”
“Oh how spookie my podcast is,” Reki teased, shutting off the treadmill and wiping the sweat from his brow. “Yea sure we can leave, you need me to shut off your treadmill?” Langa nodded and Reki shut his treadmill off, as-well. The pair walked out the door and Reki chugged down his Red Bull before tossing it in the trash outside.
“Alright, I normally work out till 8 but since we have extra time, you wanna get some food? I’m hungry again.” Langa nodded.
“I think there’s a Waffle House maybe 20 to 25 minutes away walking distance. Wanna go there?”
“Hell yea, food and a free fight with every meal.”
“You Americans are so damn weird.”
“I’m Canadian damnit.”
