Summary
The adrenaline of swinging through the city is so consuming, so amazing, that Casey doesn’t notice the way Mikey’s Ninpo…. Glitches. Between one leap and the next his chains seem to shudder for a moment. The young box turtle brushes it off as fatigue, summoning new chains in an instant.
Neither of them see the brief five flashes arch through the sky towards Central Park, multiple New Yorkers screaming as they hurtle into the lake. As five beings sink and submerge under the murky surface, a large hand reaching upwards before the body changes course and propels itself downwards instead, the rest following after it, the smaller of the five clinging onto a spiky shell as they descend.
Neither of them notice as every clock, watch and device in the city either stops or goes black before starting again a minute later.
Neither of them feel the Hidden City shudder at the amount of mystic energy just released.
But it’s probably nothing.
