It Seemed Like Such An Insignificant Change When I Did It

Chapter 1: Part 1

Chapter Text

It was rather silly, honestly.

The Savannah kids had a group chat just to keep in touch with each other and ramble about random crap- For as different and at times combative as they all were, they truly had become friends due to their weird connection.

This chat was administrated by Logan (it had been his idea to make the group chat in the first place) and, one particular day, he was overwhelmed by this sense of panic surrounding the chat. He wasn't sure why or what exactly filled him with such dread but, to him, the only logical way to deal with this fear was to delete the group chat and make a new, practically identical one.

So, that's exactly what he did.

As he made the new group chat, though, he was suddenly flooded with angry texts from the rest about it. He did the best he could to explain himself and apologize, but everything he said just seemed to make it worse.

boytwin : logan what the fuck

ash_not_ketchum : ???

loganfields : Sorry, guys

bendoesntspeak : What is this about?

loganfields : I'm sorry. New gc

boytwin : no shit but why

girltwin : be nice

boytwin : no. im mad. this is so fucking unnecessary

rubixcubeextrordinair : So were just makeing impulsive choices now w/o consulting everuone else got it

Logan wanted to cry.

The whole reason he'd done this in the first place was to ease his anxiety and now everyone was pissed at him, which just gave him a whole different type of anxiety. Even after he explained the best he could and apologized, they were still unhappy.

They all agreed that Ashlyn should take over the role of admin, which he gladly handed over before leaving the chat and having her add him back so his admin privileges were removed.

This was all during the class period right before lunch so, when lunch rolled around, he went to the band room to sit in one of the practice rooms during the duration of the lunch period, not wanting to deal with the fallout from all of his friends.

He didn't even get lunch.

No one asked him where he'd gone. He figured they all probably hated him now and that thought made him want to sob, but he refrained. He'd just feel more guilty if he allowed himself the release. After all, this was kind of his own fault.

All of the work I put in to get to know these people he thought miserably. All of this work and for what? They all hate me now

At the start of the next class, as he settled into his seat, he suddenly got a ping on his phone- He'd muted the group chat (the constant anger towards him had grown a bit overwhelming) so he was understandably a bit confused but he opened it nonetheless.

It was a text from Ashlyn.
