Work Text:
It’s been a really, really long day, and Hyunjin is looking forward to nothing more than whipping up a hot dinner and sitting slouched as far as he can go on the couch without falling off for a nice long couple of hours before he collapses into bed.
The door to the apartment swings open with a creak and as he’s shimmying his key out of the lock, Hyunjin hears a tell-tale banging of pans in the kitchen that gives away the fact his sick roommate, who should be in bed resting, is very much not.
“Felix?”
Everything goes suspiciously quiet.
Hyunjin knows that Felix is caught, knows that his roommate knows he’s caught, because Felix has to go back down the very hallway Hyunjin is standing in to get back to his bedroom, which would require revealing his presence further and giving up whatever sneaky activities the younger was up to.
He takes his sweet time pulling off his shoes and putting them into place on the shoe rack by the door. The kitchen is still suspiciously quiet and while Hyunjin knows that Felix has a significant amount of patience, he also knows that it goes immediately out the window when he’s caught in a trap like this. The gremlin in Hyunjin is quite pleased at the current situation, hence why he’s taking his time to divest himself of his belongings.
Hyunjin pretends to open and close his bedroom door and waits outside of it for the inevitable mad dash to the bedroom Felix is going to take to hopefully play off that he was in his bedroom the whole time resting (as he should be) and not meddling in the kitchen.
Sure enough, there’s the quiet patter of socked feet and Felix comes sliding around the corner, righting himself when he slides too far, heading right down the hall with a determined look on his face.
The look of surprise on his face is totally worth it, sending Hyunjin into a fit of laughter.
“That’s not fair!” Felix cries, turning on his heel and stomping into the living room, Hyunjin following him and wrapping him in hug from behind, still laughing.
Felix wiggles a little in the hold, but ultimately goes limp in Hyunjin’s hold, pouting just a little bit. He knows he’s small but he will absolutely deadweight himself in retaliation of being teased.
“Oof, hey!”
Hyunjin almost drops Felix onto the floor when he suddenly slumps heavily in Hyunjin’s arms, the older scrambling to tighten his grip on Felix before he actually drops him.
“You are a menace,” Hyunjin complains, dragging Felix’s deadweight body to the couch, said body cackling evilly even as it’s shoved onto the couch.
“That is what you get for pulling a trick like that,” Felix says cheerfully, his grumpy words belayed by the twinkling mischief in his eyes.
“Are you sure you’re sick?” Hyunjin places a hand on Felix’s forehead, the other smacking against his forehead for a frame of reference. Felix definitely feels hotter than he does, his face betraying how tired he is despite his chipper voice.
A cough racks Felix’s body, turning his voice hoarse when he talks after the coughing fit is done with him. “No, definitely not sick, not at all,” he says sarcastically.
“You stay there,” Hyunjin points a finger at Felix, who grabs a blanket and burrows himself in it with a grumble, flopping onto his side in a blanket-covered ball. “I’m going to make us food.”
Walking into the kitchen reveals an opened can of soup sitting on the counter and a small saucepan on the stove. Hyunjin must have interrupted Felix attempting to make himself soup. He quickly grabs another can of the same soup out of the cupboard they use as a pantry and pours both of them into the saucepan. Turning the stove on, he then leaves the soup to heat up while he gathers bowls and spoons.
Soon he’s walking back into the living room, balancing two trays with the bowls of soup. Felix shifts from his blanket lump into an upright position and takes the tray that’s handed to him with a quiet murmur of thanks and digs in once Hyunjin is seated next to him.
“What do you want to watch?”
“Hmm….I don’t care.”
Hyunjin flicks through the various shows they’ve been watching before turning it on to something that’s engaging but still easy to watch. He doesn’t feel like trying to wade through a complicated plot and a sick Felix likes to keep things simple himself.
He keeps an eye on his roommate throughout the entire episode. Makes sure that once Felix is finished eating he gets his cold meds. Makes sure that Felix is comfortable. Holds him close when Felix inevitably leans against Hyunjin like a heat-seeking kitten, hair mussed and fluffy from lying around all day.
Hyunjin runs a hand through Felix’s hair, further lulling him towards sleep.
“You’re using my own weaknesses against me,” Felix mumbles into Hyunjin’s shoulder.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Hyunjin says cheerfully, pulling Felix closer as he shuffles them around on the couch until they’re both lying down, Felix half on top of him, tucked between Hyunjin and the back of the couch.
Felix half-heartedly digs his fingers in Hyunjin’s side, making him squirm a little bit, but otherwise doesn’t retaliate, deciding sleep is more important than getting revenge.
Hyunjin falls asleep shortly after Felix does, having not exactly planned to, but between being warm, content, and exhausted from his day, it’s far too easy to let his grip on consciousness slip and sleep the night away on the couch.
