Work Text:
DIO quietly made his way into his son's, Giorno Giovanni's office. He originally came to talk to his son about family business, but that thought was immediately shut down the second he saw his son sleeping on his desk. DIO starred for a moment before smiling and approaching. He stopped time to carefully scoop his golden child into his arms. Then he made his way to Giorno's room. He was outside of the office before time resumed. He waited for the cool down to refresh before stopping time once again. He'd rather be caught dead than being caught doing this for his son. He carefully made his way past Giorno's gang members without being spotted and without waking his son and finally he was at Giorno's room.
DIO carefully removed Giorno's shoes and socks as well as his jacket. He stopped time as he looked for something more comfortable for his son to sleep in. He didn't want to make noise and wake the sleeping boy. He eventually found a frog hoodie just as time resumed and decided it was good enough. Using The World he put Giorno in the hoodie while looking for sweat pants. Once he found them he had The World put those on him as well. Now that Giorno was in more suitable sleeping clothing he tucked his son into bed and planted a kiss on his forehead, leaving a lipstick smudge. He chuckled and then turned to leave. Once again, for the last time, he stopped time to vanish without a trace to avoid anyone even guessing he was there. It was better this way. He had an image to uphold after all, but his son was still in bed sleeping soundly.
Now that he was sure Giorno was nice and snug he decided it wouldn't hurt to peak at what he was looking at before he fell asleep. He sat down at the desk. The first thing catching his eye was the photo of him Giorno had under a few pieces of paper work. He carefully moved the work aside to look at it. It looked to be one of Joseph's spirit photos. How odd. "Muda Muda." DIO turned to the side to see The World. "What is it?" The World pointed to something. DIO scooted over to see what he was pointing at. It seemed to be a letter. He picked it up and scanned the page. Before he could even get into reading it he saw the page signed 'Jotaro Kujo'. DIO growled and began reading.
'Dio Brando is a vampire, from the evidence provided by the Speedwagon foundation we know he's been around since at least the 1880s.'
'He's cruel and sees no problem with murder to get what he wants. Even killing his own followers for as much as simply getting captured.' He recalled how he had someone kill Enyaba. Steely Dan he believes it was. 'Since you have requested me not to come over I wish to at least warn you of these facts. Your father is not the most trustworthy person nor respectful. Good luck, Giogio. Signed Dr. Kujo Jotaro'
DIO leaned back and sighed as he read the page over once, twice, ten times. "No wonder he doesn't trust me. Do you see the way this preppy Joestar describes I, DIO to my son?" He's mainly talking to himself but The World still answers. "MUDA!" It seems to be reacting with the same amount of anger that DIO feels after reading this- this- shitty ridicule to his name. Who does Jotaro think he is? DIO stood up and walked around the office. "How dare he mock the name of Dio Brando. I should kill his bitch ass." DIO scoffed and tossed the letter back down onto his sons desk. He pinched the bridge of his nose. He was getting far too agitated over some stupid letter. But it was more than that. It was a disgrace to his name. And it ruined his image in the eyes of his son. He sat back in the desk chair and picked it up again before stuffing it in his pocket. He decided to read over more of the paper work. He brought his feet up on the desk as he did so. It felt like he was sitting on a throne in the quality of this chair. Only this throne didn't belong to him. It belonged to his son, and he was proud of that.
A few hours passed. And as he was finishing up reading almost every single document on the desk his son swung opened the door. DIO glanced up from what he was reading to see his kin. He looked... unhappy, angry even, upon seeing DIO rummaging around his files. DIO took the hint and discarded the document on the desk without finishing it. When neither of them spoke and Giorno continued to glare DIO decided to give his input. "You understand half of these problems could be solved with a lawyer."
Giorno walked over to his father. Still very much in the clothes DIO left him in, lipstick smudge still on his forehead. "What are you doing here?" He stopped right beside his chair. DIO stood up, easily towering over his child. He attempted to wipe the lipstick off of Giorno but his hand was smacked back. "You know you could just ask me to stop. It is quite disrespectful to hit your father." DIO brought his hands to his hips and he glared down at his son. He narrowed his eyes and was only met with Giorno doing the same action. DIO sighed and rolled his eyes before tilting his head down to meet his son's eyes. "It's quite 'disrespectful'-" Giorno mocked his voice. "-to read through my private documents." DIO scoffed, but stopped time to move behind his son. It happened in a flash to Giorno and he quickly gazed across the room before turning around and stepping back.
"Understood. Now watch your tone. I have a question for you, Giorno."
"What?" Giorno did not watch his tone.
DIO brought the letter out and Giorno's eyes widened. "What reason do you have to receive a letter like this-" The letter was quickly snatched from his grasp and Giorno held it close. "Stop. Stop looking through my stuff." DIO rolled his eyes.
"That is not this issue here-"
"How is that not the issue? You not only looked through private documents you also looked through private letters!"
"It wasn't exactly hard to find on your desk."
"That doesn't make it better!? You shouldn't be snooping around my office in the first place!"
"Do NOT raise your voice at me, Giorno Giovanni. I am your father-"
"Then act like it!"
"Watch your tone with me, boy." There was more bite behind that than intended.
"Or what? You'll ground me?" Giorno rolled his eyes.
"Listen to me right now. I forbid you from communicating any further with Kujo Jotaro."
"Why? Does he know too much about you for your liking?"
"Giorno-"
"Why does it even matter to you in the first place-"
"JOTARO KUJO REVEALING INFORMATION TO YOU COULD DEMOLISH THE RELATIONSHIP I AM TRYING TO BUILD." DIO hadn't realized he had grabbed Giorno's arm in his outburst. Nor did he realize how angry he had sounded.
Giorno searched DIO's face in confusion but stayed silent. The two shared a moment of quiet. It seemed nothing dared to make a sound, fearing DIO's wrath. After the moment went on for a few seconds too long DIO scoffed and gently released Giorno's arm. Not yanking his hand away, just slowly taking his grip off of his child. Giorno slowly lowered his hand. And just like that the world resumed. Birds went back to chirping. Giorno's gang went back to doing their separate tasks. And DIO glared at the wall. Giorno sighed. "I'm sorry." DIO stared at his son in disbelief. "For?" Giorno looked back up DIO. He scooted closer and pulled him into a hug. DIO grunted in surprise. "For wanting to hate you so badly." DIO's mouth hung agape and he stared wide eyed at nothing. He allowed his arms to fall to the side, refusing to return the hug. "It's fine." He did however, run his fingers through Giorno's hair. Undoing the braid in the process.
The World appeared behind Giorno to hug him back so DIO didn't have to. Giorno easily embraced the warmth of his father enveloping him. The two parted after a few minutes, and The World vanished into thin air. Now that things were calm, DIO took this opportunity to once again try to remove the lipstick stain. But Giorno once again pushed his hand away, this time much more gently. "Why do you keep doing that?" Giorno asked. DIO sighed. "Do you have a mirror?" Giorno took one from his desk drawer to look at himself. Only now noticing the mark on his forehead. He quickly glanced to DIO. "That's how I ended up in my bed, isn't it? It was you." DIO turned away, not only to hide his embarrassment but to also give a small smirk. Giorno quickly wiped the mark away. His face was red, also very clearly embarrassed. "If there's nobody else to place the blame on." DIO responded bluntly. Giorno chuckled before giving his dad a light shove. He once again embraced his padre. This time DIO hugged him back, simply forgetting to worry about his image.
"I love you, Giogio."
"I love you too, padre."
