My heart and soul are going home

Summary:

“I’ve been there before Rain, the never-ending assignments, the projects, the last minute tasks that each teacher hands out that 'just need to be done quick' thinking their class is the most important,” he pauses. “But darling, you still need to prioritize your mental health, and sleep is especially important.” He’s not mad, he’s just… worried.

“Do you remember what I told you about needing to balance your time?”

And oh, oh no that’s the wrong thing to say.

Notes:

I just want to say huge, HUGE thanks to Peachrayne for being my absolute ROCK during the whole process of writing this fic <3 You are the best and I love you to pieces, MWAH and of course everyone who has been my eyes and helped me when I was stuck!

Also, I needed more domestic Phayu/Rain so... I tried. Happy reading <3

Work Text:

When Phayu returns home after a long day, he’s excited to see his boyfriend. It had been a long day with difficult clients and meetings and all he could think about was seeing his sweet boy again.

A few days ago, Saifah had loudly announced that he would be staying at the garage and that Phayu would have the house to himself. Not one to leave the opportunity of an empty house, he and Rain had planned to get together for dinner and cuddle up on the couch for a movie afterwards, just the two of them. Phayu has been looking forward to this all week.

Rain is in his third year of Architecture now, and the stress of all his assignments has clearly been getting to him. Phayu knows he’s doing great and making all his deadlines, but Phayu can also see the stress starting to wear his boy down. They’d agreed to spend dinner together as many times a week as they could, just relaxing together with a movie, or in quiet next to each other. Rain was not the only one who needed this: Phayu also craved his boyfriend’s company and comfort.

So when Saifah had loudly declared to be gone from the shared estate, Phayu had jumped to the idea of spending quality time with his wifey.

Rain had stayed over at Sky’s dorm the previous night to work on a project. They were still busy when morning came, so Phayu had called him as they would not see each other until the evening. Rain had promised to cook for Phayu, something Phayu hadn’t known Rain liked to do and had only found out about a few weeks ago.

Phayu had always been the one cooking for them with Rain sitting on the counter, swinging his legs and watching Phayu work, and he loves it.

So when Sky offhandedly mentioned the leftovers of his cooking Rain used to bring to school, Phayu had been confused.

“Oh yes, P’Phayu. Rain used to cook for his mother all the time. Didn’t he ever tell you?”

No. No, Rain had failed to mention that fact.

“He’s really good at it too, I think it’s a pity that he never cooks anymore. I wonder why.” Sky rolled his eyes and looked towards Rain. Phayu could guess why Rain had stopped. He didn’t have to anymore, with Phayu being the cook in the relationship and always wanting to feed his boy.

When Phayu had looked at Rain with curious eyes, the boy had flushed a pretty pink. Rain stammered and tried to change the subject, talking about how he was struggling with his latest project and how Sky had promised he would take a look at it. Phayu promised himself to bring it back up to Rain at a later moment and filed away the information for the time being.

So when Phayu gets home that day, he isn’t surprised to smell something cooking. He is, however, taken aback by the state of the kitchen when he enters it.

The kitchen is a mess. There are dishes everywhere, sauce spilled on the counter and pieces of vegetables lying everywhere except on the cutting board. Phayu takes one look at Rain’s hunched shoulders and immediately knows something is wrong.

Rain is leaning on the counter with his hands in his hair as he makes a frustrated sound and kicks his legs a little. Phayu frowns at that. This morning, Rain had been so excited to cook for them. He had gone on and on about all the recipes he’d wanted to try and how he hadn’t known which one he wanted to make for them tonight.

“Sweet boy?” Phayu calls out softly. He gives Rain a few seconds to reply, but when he doesn’t even acknowledge the older man, Phayu repeats himself and steps forward. “Baby, are you okay?”

Rain’s head whips around then and his eyes shoot towards Phayu.

“P’Phayu!” His eyes widen in shock at Phayu walking in his direction. He opens his mouth to say something, but nothing really comes out. “I-I…” His eyes dart back to the mess on the counter and he makes a frustrated noise again. His hands shoot up to grab at his hair and pull a little.

“Use your words, baby. Or is that too much for you, right now?”

Rain whimpers and nods rapidly.

“Okay, I understand.” Phayu walks up to the kitchen counter and rounds it so he can stand next to Rain. “Give me your hands, darling.” Phayu stretches out his arms as an open invitation for Rain to grab a hold of his hands.

Holding hands had turned out as a way for them to ground each other. They found out about it at one of the races some time ago when the crowd had gotten a little frenzied. Rain had felt uneasy and sought out Phayu’s hand, instantly entwining their fingers. The feeling of Phayu’s fingers curling around his, knowing his Phi was there, had calmed him down instantly.

Rain doesn’t hesitate and clutches Phayu’s hands in his. He looks at Phayu and the older man can see the exhaustion in his eyes.

“Oh, good boy,” Phayu says and caresses Rain’s hands with his thumbs. “Let's freshen up.”

Rain furrows his brows and starts to make a sound again but Phayu hushes him. “It’s alright. We’ll clean up later. Let’s get you to the shower.”

Phayu leads him away from the counter and lets go of one of Rain’s hands to wrap his arm around his boy’s waist. Rain whimpers a little at the loss, but accepts the support Phayu offers him while walking.

Phayu leads them to the downstairs bathroom, the one with the big shower. He would take Rain up to his personal bathroom with the big and comfortable bathtub, but filling the tub would take up too much of the time and attention he needs to spend on Rain.

They enter the bathroom and Phayu starts undressing them. He carefully lifts Rain’s shirt and nudges Rain’s arms to get it over his head. With great difficulty Rain manages to remain standing by hanging onto Phayu heavily. When Phayu reaches down to unbutton Rain’s jeans, Phayu’s hands brush his lower stomach and Rain sucks in a breath.

“Phi…” he whines.

Phayu hushes him again. “I won’t do anything, sweet boy. Just need to undress you so we can take a shower.” Rain nods softly and lets Phayu continue. The older man crouches and pulls Rain’s jeans down, tapping his legs to sign him to step out of them. After that, Rain’s underwear comes off as well and Phayu straightens again. He let’s go of Rain long enough to undress himself swiftly before his hands are back on his boy.

“Let Phi take care of you.”

Phayu walks them into the shower and turns it on, adjusting the shower to a comfortable temperature. The moment the warm water hits his back, Rain visibly relaxes. He closes his eyes and drops his head between his shoulders, the water running down his face and drenching his hair. Phayu reaches one hand up to place around Rain’s waist while the other caresses his cheek tenderly.

“Better?” Phayu asks and Rain only hums softly in response.

He so badly wants to ask what happened for Rain to be so overwhelmed, but he knows his boy. When Rain gets overwhelmed like this, he needs some time to gather his thoughts and feelings before being able to explain. Sometimes he rebounds pretty quickly and sometimes it takes a while. It really depends on the severity of what happened to make Rain feel like this. Phayu guesses it has to do with his boy being exhausted, but he’s not sure, so he’ll wait for Rain to trust him with his thoughts.

Communication is far up on the list of things Phayu deems important. Lack of communication is deadly for any relationship. He craves clear communication and routine, as does Rain.

They’ve talked about communication before, when a situation like this happened and Phayu had acted the wrong way. Instead of helping Rain, Phayu’s actions had made his feelings worse, even though Phayu had meant well. Later they talked about what happened and agreed on simple signs to let the other know they were doing fine or needed space if talking was not an option. One pat on the arm for ‘I need space, leave me alone’ and two pats for ‘I’m doing okay, you can ask’.

So Phayu waits patiently for Rain to signal him that he’s okay, that he’s in a better headspace. In the meantime, he decides to start washing Rain’s body. Rain has said before that he likes to use Phayu’s shampoo or body wash when he’s staying over at his house, because smelling like his boyfriend soothes him. That’s why Phayu reaches out for his own body wash and the soft washcloth that lies next to it, pouring some on it.

Slowly and carefully he starts washing Rain, starting at his loosening shoulders and working his way down – down Rain’s chest, his arms, his belly and all the way down to his legs. When he finishes, Phayu rinses the washcloth and puts it away. He looks back at Rain’s face and sees a blissful expression starting to appear. Phayu smiles and thumbs Rain’s cheek again softly. “Such a good boy for me,” he croons. Rain makes a quiet sound at the praise and lolls his head sideways.

Tempted by Rain’s exposed neck, Phayu barely contains himself from kissing it lovingly. That isn’t what Rain wants right now, isn’t what he needs. Instead, Phayu leans forward and softly kisses Rain’s cheek.

“Are you okay with me washing your hair, darling?” Phayu murmurs softly. With his nose still pressed to Rain’s cheek, he can feel a tiny smile forming around Rain’s lips. It’s all the confirmation Phayu needs but he still waits for Rain to nod quietly.

Phayu grabs his shampoo from the shelf and pours some on his hand. The rich smells of sandalwood, honeysuckle and jasmine fill the shower as he threads his hands carefully through Rain’s hair, massaging his head skillfully. Rain hums contentedly and lets his head fall forward onto Phayu’s shoulder, clearly enjoying the treatment he’s getting.

The older man chuckles softly and continues his ministrations, massaging the shampoo through Rain’s auburn hair. His hair has grown a few inches and now reaches down to his shoulders. Rain had been insecure about the length but Phayu had loved it. It was a good look on his boy and Phayu had done more than show him how much he loved it.

Just as he is about to lift Rain’s head up to rinse the shampoo from his hair, he feels two pats on his arm.

Rain signaling him that he’s okay.

Still, Phayu waits until he’s washed all the shampoo from Rain’s hair to ask his boy what happened. He places his hands on either side of Rain’s face, palms on his cheeks and fingers cradling his head. He gently thumbs Rain’s cheekbones as he looks him in the eyes and waits for Rain’s gaze to focus on him.

“What has gotten you so worked up, good boy?”

Rain sighs and tightens his fingers around Phayu’s bicep. “It’s my project. It was due today and…” Rain trails off.

Phayu can guess in which direction this is going, and hums softly. He slowly moves his hands from Rain’s face down to the side of his neck. His thumb catches Rain’s jaw and strokes it lovingly.

“Did you miss the deadline, good boy?” he asks sweetly. Phayu’s other hand slides down to Rain’s back and brushes fondly up and down his spine.

Rain squirms a little at the suggestion of breaking his promise of making all his deadlines. He shakes his head and averts his eyes. “No, I made it. I finished it this morning with Sky but..” A whine comes out of his throat once more. Phayu sees the frustration clawing its way up Rain’s body and he hushes him. The hand that was on Rain’s neck reaches up to his chin and Phayu delicately pulls Rain’s face back to look at him again.

“Breathe, darling. Take your time.”

Rain closes his eyes silently and takes a few seconds to collect his thoughts.

“I was finally done and then I asked Sky if he could take a look for me just to be sure and then he pointed out some things I could have done differently and...”

Phayu understands immediately. His boy had turned out to be a perfectionist since he’d started taking his studies seriously. There was one time where Rain had not quite managed to finish his project the way he wanted it to and he didn’t get the grade he hoped for. They weren’t particularly bad grades, but they certainly could have been better if Rain had been able to finish it the way he wanted. He's been insecure about his work ever since.

No matter what Phayu said or how he tried to convince Rain that his work was good, very good even, Rain never seemed to believe it. He can accept the feedback and praise more when he’s had enough sleep though, but now that doesn’t seem to be the case. Rain looks like the epitome of exhaustion. Pale face with bags under his eyes that could be considered as dark as the nighttime sky and swaying a little on his feet. If it wasn’t for Phayu holding him up, Phayu’s sure Rain would sink to the floor in a minute.

“I know he meant well and is only looking out for me but…” Rain trails off again. “It’s not that my work is bad... but it’s just… not up to par with his, you know... or- or… yours.” Tears start to fill his eyes and Rain tries to blink them away.

Phayu feels his heart ache at the sight. He’s glad Rain is clear headed enough to be able to recognise that his work isn’t bad, but Phayu curses himself for being so busy the past week and not seeing Rain spiral so far.

When Rain starts to sniffle and his brows wobble from trying to keep his composure, Phayu immediately reaches his arms around Rain and pulls him into a tight embrace.

“Oh, my sweet, sweet boy.”

Rain sinks into Phayu’s chest and claws his nails into Phayu’s back. They stand like that for a few minutes with Phayu hushing Rain sweetly and stroking his back, softly swaying from side to side. The warm water falling over their backs is a comfort much appreciated.

“It all became too much for you, didn’t it?” Rain nods against Phayu’s shoulder and hides his face against his neck. “It’s okay, darling. Let it out for now.”

And Rain does, holding onto Phayu tightly. As if he’s scared Phayu will vanish if he lets go. He cries silently into Phayu’s neck for another few minutes before he starts to quiet down. Phayu feels his body start to go slack as Rain puts more of his weight on Phayu.

He moves Rain’s face from his neck and touches their foreheads together for just a few seconds before he pulls back to look at Rain again. He studies his face and thumbs Rain’s cheeks lovingly.

There’s things he needs to say, needs for Rain to understand, but he needs to say them carefully so as not to hurt his boy even more. The wrong things could trigger Rain to sink even further into his negative headspace, which has happened before and was not pretty. It had taken Phayu hours before Rain could even think about feeling positive about his work again, and essentially himself. So Phayu needs to be careful in his approach to try and convince Rain that he’s done well.

“You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself,” Phayu says delicately. “Your work is good, Rain. Very good even. You’re allowed to doubt yourself, because it’ll make you work harder, but it shouldn’t turn destructive.”

Rain opens his mouth to say something, but Phayu raises his eyebrows to signal that he isn’t done yet. Rain closes his mouth and lowers his head a little. He bites his lip to try and keep it from wobbling.

“You have so much more to learn, baby. If you know everything already and all your projects are perfect, then why would you still go to your classes?”

“But-”

Phayu shakes his head. “Don’t you think Sky is insecure about his work? Or your other friends?” Rain frowns a little at that, but Phayu continues earnestly. “Listen Rain, you have nothing to be insecure about. Your work is good, believe me when I say this. I’ve looked at your work before and it’s all been very well thought out so far. What are you so afraid of?”

Rain’s shoulders drop again and he shakes his head like he doesn’t want to say it.

Rain brings his hands up to his face and rubs his eyes so hard, Phayu is sure he must be seeing stars. “I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed with me.”

That hits Phayu right in his heart. He could never be disappointed with Rain. Sure, Rain likes to push his boundaries and test his limits, but that’s when they’re playing and they have rules for that. There’s nothing Rain could do that would ever make Phayu be seriously disappointed in him.

“Why would I be disappointed with you?”

“Because.. because, you’re still the P’Phayu! And I’m just…” Phayu doesn’t want Rain to finish that sentence.

“I’m just Rain... stupid, airheaded Rain.” And that won’t do, Phayu won’t stand for Rain thinking about himself like that. It’s one thing to be insecure, but for Rain to actually say these thoughts out loud is unacceptable.

“You’re not stupid, Rain,” Phayu says sternly. “Don’t ever think of yourself as stupid ever again.”

“But I am! I am stupid and I am slow in understanding things! Everyone says it, even the teachers say it. I can’t compare to Sky or to you, I’ll never be able to!”

Phayu’s heart aches at Rain’s words and he frowns hard, lips turning downward. He knows how prone Rain is to fall into self-destructive moods when he’s tired and Phayu hates that he wasn’t there to prevent it from happening. He should’ve been there to regulate Rain more and keep him on track with his routines, but he’s been too busy himself. He quietly reprimands himself for it.

He knows it’s been a tough and stressful couple of weeks for his boy and doubts Rain’s had enough sleep, but he needs to know just how little his boy had slept to determine the severity of the issue.

“Rain,” Phayu exhales quietly, touching his boy’s cheek tenderly. “Can you tell me how much sleep you’ve gotten the past few days?”

Rain’s eyes dart around the shower, looking at everything but Phayu. Phayu knows his boy well enough to know that he’s thinking about what he’s going to say next. The longer Rain takes to answer, the more convinced Phayu is that Rain hasn’t slept at all.

“Baby, look at me, please. Have you slept at all?”

Rain’s gaze lands on Phayu immediately. “I have! I have, I swear!”

“Be honest, Rain.” Phayu says a little more sternly. Rain immediately averts his eyes at the tone.

He sighs and shakes his head. “Not as much as I should’ve… but.. the deadline was nearing and-and… I-I just... it was such a big project. And for the longest time I didn’t know how to get started on it. I didn’t know what I wanted to do and it scared me and then when I finally knew in what direction I wanted to go I had so little time left.” Rain’s mind is going a mile a minute and his voice is starting to tremble.

“I know how important sleep is and how I need it to clear my head, but… Sky and me, we were so busy and I needed to work as much as I could because I had no time left! And I know how important responsibility is to you. It was just a mistake, Phi, I swear. I didn’t realize-”

Phayu nods in understanding, more to himself than to Rain. He remembers his own struggles and countless sleepless nights at university. The stress of the growing classwork and nearing deadlines nearly being too much for even Phayu to handle.

Phayu reaches up and touches Rain’s cheek tenderly, causing Rain to stop in the middle of his rambling. “I’ve been there before Rain, the never-ending assignments, the projects, the last minute tasks that each teacher hands out that 'just need to be done quick' thinking their class is the most important,” he pauses, feeling himself tensing up slightly. He hates feeling like he can’t help someone, specifically his lover. “But darling, you still need to prioritize your mental health, and sleep is especially important.” He’s not mad, he’s just… worried. Rain is so insecure and he doesn’t know how to help him any more than what he’s already tried.

“Do you remember what I told you about needing to balance your time?”

And oh, oh no that’s the wrong thing to say.

Rain lowers his head in shame and his eyes flutter closed. Phayu immediately regrets his words when he sees Rain’s expression. Memories of the first time he said this to Rain come flooding back. He remembers how heartbroken his boy had looked and winces. It’s the exact same look Rain has on his face right now and that won’t do, he isn’t trying to scold Rain. He just needs Rain to remember that balancing his time is essential, especially for students who are as busy as he is.

Sleep is important. Lack of sleep or rest makes one much more prone to concentration problems and Rain struggles with being able to concentrate enough as it is.

“I do, Phi...” When he looks up at Phayu again, Phayu can see the fresh tears in his eyes. He feels his heart breaking even more and he closes his eyes in remorse. Phayu promised himself to never hurt Rain mentally, but here he is, accidently saying the wrong thing, again.

“I’m sorry, Rain. I didn’t mean it like that. What I’m trying to say is...” This time Phayu sighs out loud. He hadn’t meant to make Rain more upset than he already was. “It hurts to see you like this. I understand you might be scared to fail, but you have nothing to be afraid of. I know I’ve said it before, but you really have nothing to be insecure about.”

Rain frowns slightly at him, as if he doesn’t understand. “But, P’Phayu…”

Phayu reaches his hand up to Rain’s cheek again and caresses him. “I’m so adamant about you getting enough sleep because you seem to comprehend feedback much better when you’ve rested enough.”

“I really didn’t mean to lose so much sleep, P’Phayu.”

Phayu smiles affectionately and leans in to peck Rain softly on the nose. “I know, darling. The important thing is that you know.”

Rain wraps his arms around Phayu’s waist and presses himself closer to his chest. "I'm so sorry, Phi, so sorry."

Phayu sighs softly to let some of the tension seep out of him. “Don’t you know, Rain?” Rain frowns in confusion at Phayu. “How incredibly proud I am of you?”

This time, when Rain averts his eyes, it’s not in shame or fear, it’s because he’s shy. His cheeks start to heat up and his ears turn pink. “Really, Phi?”

“I am so, so proud of you, good boy. Whatever you do, whatever happens, I will always be proud of you.”

Rain smiles widely. He ducks his head down and bites his lip to hide his smile. Phayu tuts and forces Rain’s lip free with his thumb. He lifts Rain’s head with two fingers underneath his chin so he can look at him. Slowly, he leans forward and touches their lips together softly. They’re just resting their lips together, connecting on a deeper level than talking will ever do and Phayu can feel Rain relaxing in his grip.

When Phayu goes to pull back and suggest they get out of the shower, Rain’s hand shoots up to Phayu’s hair and grips it tightly. “Please,” he whispers.

“It’s okay, good boy,” Phayu mumbles against Rain’s lips, continuing the kiss a little longer. They stay like that until the water falling on Phayu’s face starts to bother him. He never wants to part from Rain, but it’s getting hard to breathe. Eventually, he has to pull back, but not without pecking Rain’s lips three more times, just for good measure.

“How about we order some take out and cuddle up in bed? I assume you’ve eaten even less than you’ve slept.”

Rain nods apologetically. “I-I tried to make dinner but… nothing made sense anymore.” Phayu chuckles at the confession. He reaches his hands up and pinches Rain’s cheeks softly. “I saw that, darling. Did anything make it in the frying pan, or did everything end up on the counter?”

Rain whines and hits Phayu’s arm softly. “P’Phayu, don’t tease Rain right now.”

Phayu smiles again and looks into his darling's eyes. “You’re right, sweet boy. I'm sorry,” he lets his hands fall from Rain’s cheeks and turns off the shower. As soon as Phayu’s hands leave Rain’s body, Rain starts to sway a little on his feet. Phayu raises his eyebrows and takes a hold of Rain’s waist. “Are you okay, good boy?”

Rain nods and then immediately shakes his head. “So tired, Phi,” his eyes keep falling closed before he opens them again, as if his intense week is just now catching up to him.

“Okay sweet boy, let’s get you out of the shower, okay?” Phayu leads them out of the shower and grabs one of their big, fluffy towels. He wraps it around Rain and starts to scrub his boy down lovingly.

Rain giggles when Phayu’s hands come up to his sides. “Tickles, P’Phayu,” he says sluggishly. Phayu smiles and continues drying him off.

When Phayu finishes drying Rain’s body, Phayu reaches up and wraps the towel around Rain’s head, softly wiping his hair. Rain hums in pleasure and melts a little against Phayu, leaning his head towards Phayu’s hand. “Feels so good.”

Phayu takes his sweet time drying Rain’s hair, massaging his head tenderly, before Rain starts swaying on his feet again. “Alright, darling, off to bed with you first,” Phayu murmurs. “I’ll let you nap for a bit and then we’ll order food, does that sound good?”

Rain stifles a yawn and nods slightly.

Phayu wraps the towel around Rain’s waist and ties it so it stays on his hips. Not wanting his boy to lose his balance, he places Rain on the edge of the toilet so he can dry himself off. He grabs another big towel and dries himself quickly. His priority is Rain right now, not himself and his boy is blinking his eyes fast, trying to stay awake. Phayu almost coo’s at the sight.

He ties his own towel around his waist and reaches out to grab Rain’s hands in his. “Let’s go, sweetheart.”

Phayu directs them out of the bathroom and through the house. It's a good thing Saifah won't be home tonight, because Phayu can almost hear his brother grumbling about the sight they present right now, wrapped in only towels, making their way through the living room. But what was he supposed to do? Leave Rain alone in the bathroom while he ran upstairs to fetch them clothes? No, that isn’t an option. Even though Rain had cracked a smile and reacted positively to Phayu’s teasing, that didn’t mean he was stable enough to be alone. He still needs to be careful of his boy’s headspace as at any minute Rain could still snap back into his negative mood.

So, it’s good Saifah is staying at the garage tonight.

Phayu looks at the state of the kitchen and makes a mental note to clean it up later, maybe after they finish eating. Not right now, though. Right now, all he wants to do is get his boy to bed and cuddle up with him. He’s been so busy reassuring Rain and trying not to get too upset with himself that he forgot about his own needs. He’s missed his boy so much and all he wants right now is to spend time with Rain, feel his presence and soothe his own wants.

He carefully leads Rain to the stairs, holding his waist tightly as they climb the stairs step by step. “Almost there, good boy,” Phayu murmurs, holding onto most of Rain’s weight.

The moment they reach the top of the stairs, it becomes clear just how fast he needs to get Rain to his bed, their bed.

Rain is really starting to wane, leaning heavily against Phayu as Phayu leads them to the bedroom, pushing open the door with one hand. As they pass the couch towards the bed, Rain yawns again, making the tiniest little sound. Phayu smiles softly, and places Rain on the edge of the bed. He caresses Rain’s cheek once before walking over the closet.

With both of them as busy as they are, finding time to spend together is quite hard. So last year, Phayu proposed for Rain to bring some of his clothes over, because Rain practically lived with him anyway. But Phayu doesn’t want Rain to wear his own clothes tonight, he wants him to be as comfortable as he can be. So Phayu grabs some of his own comfiest clothes from his closet and brings them over to Rain.

When Phayu starts dressing Rain, Rain tries to push him away. “I can do it myself, P’Phayu,” he whines.

“But I want to do it for you, sweet boy,” Phayu croons and raises his eyebrows quietly. “Won’t you let Phi take care of you?” Rain settles back down at that and lets him continue.

Phayu lifts his arm and pulls the sweater down his arms. Next, he nudges Rain to lift his hips so he can remove the towel he’s still wearing and replace it with Phayu’s boxers. Phayu hums softly when Rain complies and finishes dressing Rain. “Good boy,” he murmurs softly. He stands up and removes the towel around his own waist and dresses himself in just his boxers. He leaves the towels on the ground for now, not wanting to leave Rain to put them away.

Finally dressed, Phayu gently guides Rain further onto the bed, and helps them both get under the covers. As soon as they’re bundled up, Phayu rolls onto his side and draws Rain in close by the waist. Rain lets himself be pulled in and moves his arm so it wraps around Phayu’s waist. Phayu stretches his arm out for Rain to use as a pillow and Rain accepts it gladly, snuggling into his shoulder.

Phayu smiles as Rain lets out a big, relieved sigh and his eyes start to fall closed. He releases Rain’s waist and reaches up to stroke Rain’s hair lovingly.

“Sleep, my good boy,” Phayu says softly into Rain’s ear. “I’ll wake you up in an hour.”

Rain nods quietly and cuddles up closer to Phayu. He lets out another sigh and Phayu can feel him slacken against him, finally falling asleep.

Having Rain curl up against him soothes Phayu’s own needs he’s been neglecting all week. All the stress of the difficult clients and the upcoming race seem to disappear when he feels Rain’s soft breaths against his neck. This is what he’s been longing for all week and now he’s finally got it. But even more than that, Phayu is just relieved that Rain is finally able to relax.

He knows his boy will be okay, he’s proven himself more than able. But whatever Rain wants or needs, Phayu will provide him.

Phayu snuggles up even closer to his boy. He brushes his nose against Rain’s forehead and sniffs softly before resting his cheek against him.

“Sweet dreams, darling. I love you,” he says warmly, and settles in to rest his eyes for a bit.
