i like shiny things, but i'd marry you with paper rings

Summary:

Bakugou chuckles lightly, licking his lips, “You’re fuckin' weird.”

Even with that, there’s something about Bakugou that draw Izuku in.

And so if Izuku goes home to search up “Bakugou Katsuki” on Google and every single social media app only to get a result for a Facebook with 1 friend and 0 posts (for all Izuku knows, it might not even be the right Bakugou Katsuki), nobody has to know except himself.

*

Or, Izuku and Katsuki meet, date, and then wanna get married.

Notes:

Ahhhhhh look at me WRITING THIS AUTHOR'S NOTE FOR THE THIRD TIME and I had to write those tags four times bc they suddenly all fucking deleted the third time I wrote them and oml I am going to go crazy but it's okay.

Sorry, sorry. My computer is being wild and whenever I try presting post it simply does not allow me to post it.

Anyway, here I am posting another bakudeku oneshot instead of adding a chapter to one of my multichapter fics that definitely need some love haha but it's okay. Everything is okay.

Okay, I'm kind of obsessed with Taylor Swift and so I'm thinking about making a series about fics based on Taylor Swift songs because this makes the second one I've written and posted (if I can even get this damn thing to post) so idk, we'll see if I decide on actually making a series. Bc why work on my multichap fics when I can keep making oneshots based on my favorite music?

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“So, what brings you here?” A voice comes from behind Izuku, who leans his head back further on the couch so that it’s almost upside down and he can see exactly who the voice came from.

He sees a tall man; blonde hair, red eyes, and a pretty face. His arms are crossed and he’s looking down at Izuku. Izuku recognizes him from the group of stoners he saw when he first got here, yet the man didn’t seem to partake if Izuku’s observations were correct enough.

“O-oh, uh, friends dragged me here,” Izuku mumbles off, scratching at his neck as a way to distract himself from the objectively hot man above him, “then they left me. How about you?”

The man scoffs but it comes out more of a laugh as he hops over the back of the couch and slides down next to Izuku, “This is my damn house, my friends decided it’d be a good fuckin’ idea to throw a party here without my permission.”

“Ah,” Izuku inhales sharply, “sorry about that.”

The man shrugs, “I get to see your pretty face so it’s not that bad.”

Izuku can feel the heat rise to his face and he just wills it to go away but he’s pretty sure it doesn’t listen.

“What? Cat got your tongue?”

“Um,” Izuku clears his throat, “not quite.”

“Mhm,” The man squints his eyes, nodding at Izuku skeptically. “Bakugou Katsuki.”

“Huh?”

“My name,” The man clarifies, “it’s Bakugou Katsuki. What’s yours?”

“Oh!” Izuku’s eyes widen with realization, “I’m Midoriya Izuku.”

The man laughs, “Pfft- That name definitely fuckin’ fits you.”

“Yeah, yeah, I know,” Izuku sighs. He’s always hated how perfectly his name goes with his appearance. Like, yeah, his hair and eyes are green, but that doesn’t mean that his name needs to mean green too.

The man, Bakugou, knocks his shoulder against Izuku’s and before Izuku knows it, they’re talking for the rest of the night. Somehow the subject goes from favorite colors and pet peeves to first kisses and life goals. Izuku finds out that Bakugou really enjoys reading and in turn, he says that he also likes reading.

They talk about books for 45 minutes after that.

“Y’know, I hate accidents,” Izuku says after a lull of silence.

Bakugou hums for a second before turning toward Izuku and asking, “What do you mean?”

Izuku shrugs, “I just feel like nothing is actually ever accidental. Like, I guess spilling something or dropping something is accidental but that’s not the kind of accident I was talking about.” He takes a deep breath, “I dunno, I guess I’m not making any sense.”

Bakugou chuckles lightly, licking his lips, “You’re fuckin' weird.”

Even with that, there’s something about Bakugou that draw Izuku in.

And so if Izuku goes home to search up “Bakugou Katsuki” on Google and every social media app only to get a result for a Facebook with 1 friend and 0 posts (for all Izuku knows, it might not even be the right Bakugou Katsuki), nobody has to know except himself.

***

Over the next few months, Izuku has a whirlwind of emotions. Bakugou, somehow, got his number and has been texting him, asking him about a possible date and, yeah, Izuku would like that but he’s too nervous and awkward to admit it and say yes so… He kind of avoids the man.

He sees him at school (they go to the same college and have the same major, yet Izuku’s never really paid too much attention to the other, opting to focus more on his work, otherwise he knows he’d analyze every person in that class way too much) and chooses to quickly walk by him or pretend like he can’t hear him. He sees him around campus and goes in the other direction. He sees him at the fucking store and pretends to be really interested in the damn bread all of a sudden.

Sometimes he decides to talk to Bakugou and he’d hang out with him with a group of their friends and whatnot. Izuku would even go so far as to say that they’re friends themselves.

Except, they’re friends that rarely talk to each other alone.

But it’s fine.

Then, everything comes crumbling down because Izuku is stressed with finals and his job and, for the love of god, he gets put into a partnership with Bakugou for a project in class. Like, actually, what are the odds of that? It’s something straight out of a movie, those kinds of things don’t happen in real life. You aren’t just partnered up with someone you really really want to kiss and take on a date (and very well could because he’s asked you multiple times but you’re too much of a wimp to say yes for some reason) in real life. It doesn’t happen.

Except apparently, it does and now they’re at Bakugou’s house (how the hell he can afford a whole ass house for himself in college is unknown to Izuku) and Izuku is talking about how stressed he is and then Bakugou is 2 inches from his face and asking - no, really he’s begging - to kiss Izuku.

Izuku, somehow, forgets that he’s a wimp and nods his head, allowing Bakugou to close the last couple of inches and kiss Izuku. Izuku’s mind is completely void of why he’s not been saying yes to Bakugou’s attempts at a date before, he’s clearly been delirious not to want this sooner. (Okay, that’s a lie, he has wanted this sooner, he’s just been scared. Of what? He’s not sure himself.)

Bakugou pulls back for a moment, just to get some air, then he’s back to kissing Izuku for a second time. This time he goes in deeper, exploring further.

More air, then a third time, and now Izuku is grabbing Bakugou’s face, realizing just how much he’s wanted this.

***

After that, they go on dates. They make it official. They go hiking. They take cooking classes together (Katsuki is a great cook and that’s the day Izuku figured that out). They break into random abandoned warehouses. They simply hang out at Katsuki’s place.

He has a pool out back and, even though it’s fucking freezing outside, Katsuki decides to jump in. Then has the audacity to say, “Come on! It feels fuckin’ nice.”

“I’m sure it does with how hot you are,” Izuku smirks, crouching down to be somewhat level with Katsuki, “too bad I can’t come in with you. I’m not hot enough, I’d just freeze to death.”

“Hey,” Katsuki flicks the water hard enough that a bit of it splashes and lands on Izuku’s knee. The water is cold as hell. “Was that you trying to flirt?”

Izuku just shrugs, smirking.

“Just get in here, dumbass.”

“Nope.”

"Please?”

And, well, who is Izuku to deny his boyfriend when he’s actually saying please for once? So, he takes his shirt off and jumps into the quite literally freezing cold pool, making sure to jump as close to Katsuki as possible in order to splash him the maximum amount possible.

***

A year later, Izuku is waking up next to Katsuki in his bed. He spends more nights here than at his own dorm nowadays. Deciding that it’s too much work to get back to the dorms when he can just sleep in a bed with his boyfriend.

As he wakes up, he matches his breathing with Katsuki’s. A way to make himself feel a bit closer to his boyfriend, if that makes any sense.

Katsuki groans and takes a deep breath, blinking his eyes awake, “Izu?”

“Uh-huh,” Izuku hums audibly, making sure Katsuki can hear him.

“Hi.”

“Hello,” Izuku smiles, “I love you.” He whispers.

Katsuki chuckles, “I love you too.”

Suddenly, Izuku is feeling all sentimental. That’s not a good sign. Not a good sign in the slightest. He starts tellings Katsuki shit like, “I really love you- Like a love so strong that I want to, like, take all your problems away from you so that you don’t have to suffer through them and I want to like,” He reaches his hand over to rest it on Katsuki’s face, “spend stupid Monday mornings with you and celebrate Friday nights and I want to go on road trips with you and I want to keep waking up next to you like this. Hell, I think I might wanna marry you, eventually.”

“Oh yeah?” Katsuki smirks, a bit more awake now. He’s looking at Izuku right in his eyes, “You wanna marry me?”

Izuku nods, “Mhm. I’m really glad we aren’t just friends anymore, Kacchan.”

Katsuki chuckles breathily, “Me too.”

They sit there in silence for a while until Izuku leans over and closes the gap between them, kissing Katsuki. The way it happens kind of reminds him of their first kiss, all that time ago.

And so he pulls away for some air, before leaning in a second time, pushing deeper.

The third time he pulls away, he can’t stay away for long. He takes a quick breath and leans back in, and, just like all that time ago, Katuski mirrors past Izuku and grabs onto Izuku’s face.

After the kiss, Katsuki knocks his forehead to Izuku’s, “What kinda ring would you want? Something bright and shiny? A big fuckin’ jewel?”

Izuku laughs quietly, “Hell, you could give me a paper ring and I’d be more than happy to marry you, Kacchan. I love you.”

Katsuki barks out laughter at that, “I fuckin’ love you, babe. I’ll get you the best ring out there.”

Izuku can’t stop smiling, he feels the blush creep up to his cheeks, “As long as it’s from you, it is the best ring.”

“Sap.”

Izuku shrugs, “What can I say? I love you so much I’m turning into a big ol’ sap for you,” Izuku giggles, scooting closer to Katuski so he can wrap him into a hug.

Katsuki just leans into the hug, not saying anything more. The two of them lie there until it is absolutely necessary that they have to get up. They wait until the absolute last minute and it’s worth every second.

Notes:

And then they live happily ever after yipee:D

There we have it, a mostly coherent fic based on a Taylor Swift song that I wrote at 1 in the morning. Leave a comment or something idek anymore lol
