Valkyrie Rising

Summary:

It finally happened. Marinette and her team finally managed to overthrow Hawkmoth and take the miraculous from him. Not only was Gabriel Agreste arrested, but everyone who worked with him, including Nathalie and Lila.

Unfortunately, it didn't have the happy ending that Marinette wished for.

As they were all being led away in front of a crowd, Lila managed to take the gun of a police officer and shot Marinette. Even when Lila was disarmed and thrown to the ground by five police officers shortly thereafter, Marinette was still fatally wounded.

With her last strength, she transferred the title of the miraculous guardians to Su Han, who was also nearby.

Her family and friends could only watch as Marinette died before their eyes.

The Kwamis, however, could not stand idly by and decided to act. The Kwamis sent Marinette's soul to another world, armed with some of the Kwami's magic, foremost the power of the dragon miraculous, where she is to be reincarnated, though she will not remember anything other than the modern knowledge and her name.

Chapter 1: A new world

I actually didn’t plan to draw a pic, but because a few readers have troubles with imagine Marinette in the Dragon miraculous outfit I drawed Marinette’s appearance.

Chapter Text

When Marinette woke up in a daze, it was for her like that she had a strange dream where she died.

She rubs her head and painfully asks "What happened?"

When she didn't get an answer, she opened her eyes and saw that she was lying on a grassy field.

As she sits up straight, she takes a closer look and sees that she was in a wide grass field, near a cliff.

Looking down at herself, Marinette realizes that she is wearing an odd red and black outfit. When she feels something on her back, she puts her right hand there. When she felt a grip, she grabs it and looks at what it is. She was amazed when she saw a red sword in her hand.

"Why do I have a sword?"

When she looks at the red sword, she could see her reflection on it. She didn't know why, but she had a black and red domino mask and some kind of horns on her head.

She was sure that she wasn’t a fan of weapons, so she was puzzled as to why she was carrying one. However, since she didn't know where she is or why she has it at all, she decided to keep the sword for the time being and puts it back.

Slowly, dazedly, Marinette got up and walked towards the cliff. Looking down she saw that the cliff goes down very deep where waves are crashing against the cliff.

Marinette turns away from the cliff, pondering what to do. She looks everywhere and saw the cliff, the grass field and a forest. Since there is nothing by the cliff and grass field, she decided to hike through the forest.

———————————————————————

Later.

Marinette wandered through the forest not knowing where she was going. She didn't see anything apart from trees and insects. She walked through the forest until her stomach growled.

Marinette clutches her stomach and says hungrily, "I've been wandering around for hours. I think it would be better if I take a little break.” She looks around hoping that she will find something to eat somewhere, unfortunately she couldn't find anything.

She sighs, about to think of something, when she smells the smell of fire.

She looks in the direction of where she is smelling the smell and thinks to herself, 'Maybe someone started a campfire there.' She squeals as she thinks, 'Maybe they've got enough food to give me some!'

She started running in the direction of the scent, but as she runs she realizes that she is very fast, almost as fast as the wind.

She stopped in front of a big bush and looks towards the way she came from.

She mumbles in amazement, "How is it possible that I'm so fast?"

“ARGH!!!“

“ROAR!!!“

When Marinette hears screams and roars, she turns around and looks through the bush. Then, near a shore, she saw six teens about her own age and dragons surrounded by at least three dozen burly men.

Marinette gasped and thought, 'Those are dragons!' as she looked at the dragons from afar, she felt a strange fascination rather than fear.

Marinette decided to wait and see what's going on first.

Four of the teens were tied up, gagged and blindfolded on the floor while all but one black dragon were caged.

Only a blond girl, a boy with a prosthetic foot and the black dragon were left. They try to defend themselves, but they were outnumbered.

Marinette grits her teeth. She wished there was something she could do to help the teens and dragons, but she was sure she would be inferior to the burly men.

While contemplating what to do, she clenches her fists, causing her to inadvertently generate electricity.

She looked at her hand in wonder, which is still generating electricity, and then back to the two teens and black dragon who, apart from the boys, are also being tied up like the others.

Marinette exhales before she glares at the scene. "Anyway, I can't just stand there and do nothing."

———————————————————————

Hiccup is held by two dragon hunters by the arms and forced to his knees while he is forced to watch how Astrid and Toothless are tied up in front of his eyes.

Hiccup angrily asks "What do you want?!"

The dragon hunters made way as the second-in-command of the dragon hunters, Ryker Grimborn, came to a halt in front of Hiccup.

He holds his sword under Hiccup's chin as he says "We only want the dragons. How we get them depends on you.”

"You won't get our dragons!" Yells Astrid.

"I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to your leader." Ryker says without looking at her.

As if he gave an order, she is gagged by one of the dragon hunters.

Hiccup got angry at the sight. "Like Astrid said, you won't get our dragons. So I suggest you untie us, after which we can go our separate ways.”

Ryker started to smile darkly. "You misunderstand me. You don't have much to say about it."

Hiccup glares. He would like to do anything to save his friends and dragons, but he couldn't free himself.

Ryker put his sword down as he says "But you're lucky today as Viggo isn't interested in your dragons today." Hiccup was about to ask but Ryker continues "I'll offer you a good deal. You hand us out the Dragon eye and in return we will release both your friends and dragons."

Hiccup looks at Toothless first, then at Astrid. Although the deal sounds tempting, he couldn't accept it.

Hesitating too long for Ryker's liking, Ryker says to his men, "This is taking me too long! Bring the Deadly Nadder here!”

As the dragon hunters pull the blue dragon in front of Ryker, Astrid looks on in panic. She wanted to help her beloved dragon, but was unable to fight.

Hiccup didn't feel good about it. He asks "What are you up to?!"

Ryker says while readying his sword, "The Night Fury is too rare to kill in demonstration right now. However, as for the other dragons, they are not that rare. So I'll slay one dragon every minute until you give me what I want."

Hiccup, Astrid, and Toothless try to free themselves to come to Stormfly's aid, but to no avail.

Ryker swings his sword and is about to decapitate the dragon when suddenly someone behind him holds his sword back.

Ryker tilted his head back as far as it could go and saw a horned girl dressed all in red and black holding his sword back with one hand.

Before he could even understand, Marinette grabs the sword from his hand and kicks him into three dragon hunters, all of whom are knocked to the ground.

Hiccup, Astrid, their dragons and all dragon hunters were more than amazed and confused by the new girl.

One of the dragon hunters points his spear at her and menacingly says "What do you think what-"

She cuts him off by cutting his spear in two with her sword, whereupon he falls back in shock.

Ryker shouted as he got back up, "Surround her!"

The dragon hunters surrounded Marinette with their spears, axes, hammers, swords and crossbows. Marinette, however, remained unimpressed.

Before the dragon hunters could even blink, they were already disarmed.

They were beyond confused when they realized they no longer had their weapons. They were startled to see their weapons completely destroyed at Marinette's feet.

Marinette was still holding a spear and easily snapped it in half.

The dragon hunters didn't know what to do.

Ryker angrily orders, "What are you waiting for?! Seize her!”

While the dragon hunters were scared of Marinette, they were more scared of Ryker, so they charged.

Marinette remained unperturbed. She waits a bit before thrusting her hand forward, creating a strong gust of wind, pushing all of the dragon hunters, including those holding Hiccup far away and knocking them to the ground.

Both Hiccup and Astrid were impressed and a little scared that one girl could defeat so many dragon hunters.

Ryker wasn't about to admit it, but the girl in front of him was starting to scare him.

Marinette turns to the cage with the remaining dragons. She swings her sword and strikes. Her sword slash creates an air slash, destroying the cages and freeing the remaining dragons.

Seeing the freed dragons, Ryker had no choice but to order the retreat.

He and his dragon hunters ran to the sea and swam to the three ships.

The dragons were about to fly after them and attack the dragon hunters, but when Marinette raised her hand, they stayed calm.

The dragons watched curiously as Marinette freed Toothless and Stormfly from their bonds with a quick sword swing and then she slowly walked to the edge of the shore.

Hiccup wasted no time and immediately ran to Astrid and untied her. Then they both ran after the strange girl.

As they come to a stop behind Marinette, Astrid asks, "Are you going to let them escape?"

Rather than to reply, Marinette sheaths her sword and raises her right hand. She waits a bit until the ships have sailed a little further away before snapping her fingers.

Hiccup was about to ask what she was doing when three massive bolts of lightning struck out of the sky and destroyed the three ships.

At the sight, Hiccup and Astrid fell startled backwards.

Hiccup and Astrid stare in fear and awe as the ships slowly begin to sink and the dragon hunters escape on lifeboats.

As Marinette turned and started walking in their direction, Hiccup and Astrid got scared that they would have to fight someone that strong.

However, Marinette walked past the two in the direction of the dragons.

As Marinette comes to a stop in front of the dragons, she holds out her hand with a gentle smile.

The dragons looked at her in both fascination and curiosity.

Toothless was the first dragon to approach her. He first looks at her hand before pressing his head into her hand. The rest of the dragons then gathered around the girl.

Hiccup and Astrid were more than surprised. Not only did this strange girl chase the dragon hunters away, she also seems to get along with the dragons very well.

Hiccup and Astrid exchange a look before slowly and cautiously approaching the strange girl.

The two came to a halt a few steps in front of her and the dragon. Hiccup starts to speak "Thank you so much for saving us." He points to Astrid and then to himself "This is Astrid, and my name is Hiccup.“

"It was really impressive how you managed to chase away the dragon hunters." says Astrid, impressed.

Marinette was about to introduce herself when she noticed something shocking about Toothless. His tail is damaged and, like Hiccup, has a prosthetic there.

Marinette was both angry and sad to see the dragons in such a state. She doesn't know why, but she feels like that she can help him.

Before anyone could understand, Marinette ripped off Toothless prosthetic tail.

"Hey! What are you doing?!” asks Hiccup, stunned. He wanted to do something, but was held back by Astrid.

Before Hiccup could say anything, Astrid says, "Wait. I don't think she wants to harm Toothless."

Hiccup and Astrid watched as Marinette placed a hand on Toothless tail and closed her eyes.

Hiccup and Astrid watch awestruck as a red aura emanates from Marinette's hand and flows through Toothless tail.

When Marinette removed her hand, both Hiccup, Astrid, and the dragons were more than surprised to see Toothless tail regenerated.

Toothless stares at his healed tail in amazement and confusion. He even does some tail whips to make sure he's not imagining it.

Hiccup and Astrid were sure that the girl cannot be a normal person. Even though the girl only recently chased away three dozen dragon hunters, they might have been able to come up with a plausible explanation, but watching the girl heal Toothless tail was inexplicable to the two of them.

Astrid wanted an answer right away, so she marched over to the strange girl who was playing with Toothless and the other dragons.

When the dragons notice Astrid, they move a little to one side, except for Toothless, who stands next to Marinette.

"I want some answers now!" Astrid says a little impatiently "Who are you? What are you? Where do you come from? What are these powers that you have? How did you manage to heal Toothless?"

Marinette considered answering her questions, but as she thought about it, she had to remind herself that apart from her name, she couldn't remember anything. Since she also doesn't want to tell strangers that she has probably amnesia, she has decided not to say anything.

Hiccup, who comes to a halt next to Astrid, wants to defuse the situation and says "I think what Astrid was trying to say was that she has never seen anyone like you. Maybe you can tell us a little bit about yourself.”

Although the boy sounds sincere in front of her, Marinette couldn't bring herself to say anything to him. Especially since she's not sure if he was responsible for damaging the dragon's tail.

Since the girl in front of him doesn't say anything back, he holds out his hand and says, "Let's start from the beginning. My name is Hiccup, what's your name?"

Instead of giving him her hand, she ran first to the edge of the shore, then across the surface of the water as fast as the wind.

Hiccup and Astrid stare after her dumbstruck.

"We have to follow her!" says Astrid, whereupon both climb on their dragons.

They were about to fly after her when they heard noises behind them. Looking behind them, they saw that their friends were still bound and gagged.

They had no choice but to let the strange girl escape.

———————————————————————
At the same time.

Marinette ran across the sea at a rapid pace, not knowing where to run. She just wanted to get away from the people she doesn't know.

She wondered where to go next, but without knowing where she is, it's hard to navigate.

She was so lost in thought that she doesn't notice that something comes out of the water in front of her until it's too late.

She crashes into a large blue dragon and sinks into the water.

When she was deep under the water, she tried frantically to hold her breath, but after a few moments she couldn't hold it anymore and opened her mouth, whereupon her breath escaped. She felt fear and terror. She tries to swim back to the surface in a panic until she realizes that she doesn't have to gasp as much as she thought.

It took her some time to understand that she could breathe underwater.

While she was surprised that she could breathe underwater, she couldn't think about it when the dragon starts to attack her.

She held her hands out in front of her protectively, but when the dragon crashed into her, he was able to swim through her as her body formed into water.

As she transformed back in her human form, she couldn't believe what had just happened to her body.

She looks at the dragon as it changes direction and swims back to her.

This time she stayed calm and held out her arms as if to hug him.

As the dragon approaches her, he slows down until he comes to a stop in front of her. He looks at her as if to examine her. After what feels like an eternity, he cautiously approaches. When the dragon was close enough, Marinette started petting his head, which the dragon seemed to like.

The dragon then climbs out of the water with Marinette on its head.

Once on the surface, Marinette took a deep breath, although it wasn't necessary.

She sits down on the dragon's head. She asks while stroking his head, "How's it looking buddy. Do you know a good place I could go to?”

Instead of answering her question, the dragon started swimming in a certain direction.

———————————————————————
Later.

The dragon has led Marinette to a small island inhabited by many different species of dragons. Some of the dragons even flew up to Marinette and wanted her to scratch them.

Looking around, Marinette thought to herself, although there is not a living person, that she could very well live here. Especially with the dragons keeping her company.

Chapter 2: Valkyrie meets Dragon Riders

Notes:

I actually didn’t plan to draw a pic, but because a few readers have troubles with imagine Marinette in the Dragon miraculous outfit I drawed Marinette’s appearance.

Chapter Text

Hiccup sat at his desk and looked at a drawing he drew of the strange girl.

It's already been two months since Hiccup and Astrid met the strange girl, but they still can't forget her.

When they told their friends about her, everyone had different opinions.

The twins joked about it.

Snotloud hit out that he certainly scared off the dragon hunters and that Hiccup and Astrid made the girl up so they wouldn't admit it.

Only Fishlegs was intrigued to know what had happened and had already theorized with Hiccup and Astrid. The most likely theory for the three was that the girl must be a Valkyrie.

Astrid in particular was convinced of the theory, as she had always been enchanted by the stories about Valkyries.

In the time since the Valkyrie's disappearance, rumors have mounted that dragon hunters ship after ship is being mysteriously destroyed.

Hiccup, Astrid and Fishlegs thought it had something to do with the Valkyrie, but they didn’t have any proofs.

Hiccup was sitting at a table writing something down when his father came into his room and said, "Why are you still here? Johann just docked."

Hiccup perked up, he looks at his father and asks "You think he has ink with him?"

Stoick says as he leaves the room, "There's only one way to find out."

———————————————————————
A little later on Johann's ship.

While other Vikings and his friends curiously looked around the ship, Hiccup went to Johann with Toothless and said "Hello Johann."

"Oh Hello Master Hiccup. How are you doing on this beautiful day?” replies Johann while opening a box.

"Pretty good," says Hiccup.

"How can I help you?" asks Johann.

Hiccup asks "I wanted to ask you if you have ink?"

Johann puffs his chest out "Of course I have ink." he slumps and rubs sheepishly the back of his neck "Or at least I had ink."

"What happened?" asks Hiccup.

Johann says excitedly and enthusiastically "I was saved by a Valkyrie!"

Not only did Hiccup hear his exclaim, but his friends did too.

They gather next to Hiccup. Astrid asks for everyone "Can you repeat it?"

Johann proudly began to tell "It all happened four days ago..."

———————————————————————
Four days earlier, on the open sea.

It was a stormy night and Johann was on the run from the dragon hunters.

There were four ships after him, he didn't know why, he just knew that he didn't want to find it out.

It didn't take long for them to catch up with him and get onto his ship.

Just as they were about to chain him up, out of nowhere Marinette appeared protectively in front of Johann and threw all the dragon hunters off the ship with a gust of wind, then she destroyed two of the dragon hunters ships with a thunderbolt and slashed the third with a wind slash and cutting it in the middle. The fourth ship she left intact so the dragon hunters in the water could be rescued. However, she destroyed the sail with lightning-fast cuts so that they could no longer follow Johann‘s ship. Marinette then creates a huge wave that takes Johann's ship far away from the dragon hunters.

After a while, when they were far away, Marinette let the wave disappear.

Johann has been awestruck since Marinette showed up. He even pinched his arm to make sure that he wasn't dreaming. Whichever way he puts it, he only had one plausible explanation for what happened. A Valkyrie was sent by Odin to save him.

After what felt like an eternity, he finally plucked up the courage and said, "Thank you so much for saving me. I don't know what would have happened if the dragon hunters had kidnapped me."

Marinette looked at him but said nothing. She looked at the ship to see if everything was ok.

Johann respectfully asks "How can I ever thank you for that?"

Marinette was about to leave when she saw something. She went to a box and pulled out a book with blank pages and a bottle full of ink. She shows the things to Johann.

Johann asks a little surprised "You want the notebook and ink?" when Marinette nods, Johann says "You're welcome to have that, but wouldn't you rather have something else? I have lots of spices, weapons, books, silk and much more.”

Marinette shakes her head.

Johann didn't have a chance to say anything else when Marinette jumped off the ship and disappeared without a trace.

Johann looked impressed and fascinated afterwards.

———————————————————————
Present.

"And so the Valkyrie disappeared without a trace." Johann ends his story.

The Dragon Riders were very impressed with the tale.

Astrid whispers to Hiccup "Do you think this is the same Valkyrie that saved us?"

Hiccup rubs his chin as he reflects on Johann's experience. His train of thought was interrupted when Snotloud mocked him, "Are you thinking about that girl again?"

Hiccup replies without thinking, "Yes." He frantically shakes his head, "I mean no! I mean- argh!”

Hiccup pulls out a drawing he made of Marinette and shows it to Snotloud. "She's real."

Snotloud took the picture of the girl and says, "You must have imagined her." He takes a closer look at the picture and whistles, "I would dream of a lady like her myself."

"I didn't imagine her," says Hiccup as he takes the drawing back, "Astrid, Toothless, and the other dragons saw her, too."

Snotloud shrugged "You were probably all just dreaming, nothing more."

"How do you explain that the dragon hunters fled?" asks Hiccup.

Snotloud smugly replies, "They must have smelled your bad breath and fled."

Hiccup ignores the insult and asks "How do you explain Toothless healed tail?"

Toothless shows his tail as proof.

Snotloud opened his mouth to explain, but not a word came out.

Hiccup went to Johann and while showing the drawing he asks "Did the Valkyrie looks like this?"

Stunned, Johann took the drawing "That's the Valkyrie!" He looks at Hiccup in disbelief "Did you meet her too?"

Hiccup nods "She saved us from the dragon hunters two months ago."

Fishlegs had an idea and asks Johann "Do you remember where you met her?"

Johann nods and pulls out a map. He points to a certain spot on the sea as he says "I met her right here."

Fishlegs looks at the spot before exclaiming enthusiastically, "This is fantastic!"

Astrid exchanges a look with Hiccup before asking "Would you explain to us what is so fantastic?"

Fishlegs shows his friends the map as he explains, "There are only three islands near where the Valkyrie saved Johann."

Aside from Hiccup and Astrid, no one seemed to understand what Fishlegs was implying.

Neither Snotloud nor the twins seemed to understand.

"What does the number of islands have to do with the situation?" asks Snotloud annoyed.

Astrid explains as if it were obvious "This means that there is a possibility that the Valkyrie lives on one of the three islands."

Snotloud let out a "Oh?" before scratching his head. "I still don't get it."

"Neither do I." the twins say at the same time.

Hiccup facepalmed.

"We'll explain it to you in detail on the way." Astrid says while Hiccup and Fishlegs push the three idiots from the ship, to the other dragons.

———————————————————————
Meanwhile on another island.

Marinette sat on the edge of a cliff staring out to the sea. On her lap was a small dragon that Marinette knows by the name of Terrible Terror. And around them lay four larger dragons, a Gronckle, a Deadly Nadder, a Grim Gnasher and a Changewing.

She got her hands on a book about dragons, which has all kinds of dragons in it. While she couldn't understand why most dragons were given inappropriate names, it was beneficial for her to know what the dragons she befriended were called.

Marinette has accomplished a lot in the past two months. She managed to build herself a big modern house big enough that the dragons that live with her on the island can go in and out at any time.

She has found that she is very strong, tough and has tons of skills.

She has rescued numerous dragons from the dragon hunters clutches and sunk their ships, but never killed anyone.

She even managed to plant her own garden with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.

Marinette is currently relaxing with her dragons when the loud roar of a thunderdrum is heard.

The roar of the thunderdrum was a warning signal to Marinette that strangers were approaching her island, or that there was any other danger.

Marinette carefully put the dragon that was resting on her lap aside and stood up.

She stretches a little as she says, "It looks like we're having uninvited visitors."

She grabbed her sword and used the camera function to see far out to the sea. What she saw in the distance confused her a little. She saw the teens she rescued two months ago fly on dragons toward her island.

She wasn't sure anymore if they were enemies or not. Especially since the dragons seem to like the teens.

She thinks a little before she has an idea. She looks at the dragons and says, "I think it's time to give our visitors a proper welcome."

The dragons roars in agreement.

———————————————————————
A little bit later.

The Dragon Riders land on the shore of the island and dismount from their dragons.

"This is the third island." complaints Snotloud.

"Stop complaining. That's the last island we're investigating.” Astrid says harshly.

Before Snotloud could reply, Hiccup says, to avoid an argument "Guys! The quicker we start, the quicker we'll be done here.”

His friends agree and are about to start exploring the island when a dozen changewings appear out of nowhere and surround the teens and dragons.

They were ready for a fight, but the Chengewings didn't attack them. Instead, they open a path for them. One of the Changewings signals the Dragon Riders to follow him.

Hiccup exchanges an uncertain look with his friends before deciding to follow the dragons.

———————————————————————
Later.

The Dragon Riders are escorted through a forest by the Changewings.

Snotloud whispers to the others "Seriously, are we supposed to trust these dragons? What if they lure us into a trap to attack us.”

Hiccup replies as if it's obvious, "If they wanted to attack us, they would have already."

Tuffnut asks "If we get eaten, can I watch the dragons eat Hiccup first?"

"Oh yeah!" adds Ruffnut "That would be quite a spectacle before we die."

Hiccup says annoyed "Nobody gets eaten!"

"You're the only one who thinks that," says Snotloud.

Hiccup was about to say something when the Changewings stopped in front of a tall bush.

Hiccup asks the Changewing leader, "Why are we holding?"

The Changewing nodded to the bushes.

Hiccup cautiously approaches the bush. As he pokes his head through the bush he asks "What's the- Woah!"

Astrid asks surprised "What do you see?"

"You have to see that!" exclaims Hiccup without taking his eyes off.

Astrid says while looking behind the bush "What's that over there- Woah!"

The remaining dragon riders and their dragons exchange a look before deciding to follow the two.

One by one they began to look behind the bushes, and what they saw there left them speechless.

They saw a huge house that doesn't resemble any of the houses they already know. It was three if not four times the size of their chief's hut and five times as wide. In front of the house there was some kind of windmill and right next to the house was a big garden with vegetables and fruits they have never seen before.

Just behind the house there was a smithy and a stable for chickens, yaks and sheep.

Fishlegs asks in astonishment "Where are we?"

"I think it's a house or a farm, but I've never seen anything like it." Astrid says as she cautiously approaches the house. "I think we should go inside."

None of the others had a better idea, so they opened the big front door.

When they open the door, it is as if a bright light blinds them.

They saw the Valkyrie sitting on a comfy looking chair in her living room and drinking tea. Placed in front of her on the coffee table are tea and lots of pastries the dragon riders have never seen before.

Marinette took a sip of her tea as she said with closed eyes "I see you've finally arrived." She waves to the large couch opposite her armchair as she says, "Please have a seat. I have prepared some tea and pastries.”

The dragon riders walked slowly and carefully into the living room and each sat down on the couch while the dragons took a seat on the floor.

As the Dragon Riders sat down, they immediately noticed how soft and comfortable the couch was, unlike what they were used to.

"Is that a cloud?" asks Snotloud, amazed. He relaxes back on the couch as he says, relieved and satisfied, "That must be Valhalla."

"That's a couch." deadpanned Marinette "And you're not in Valhalla, you're in my home." She didn’t mention that she have no idea what Valhalla is.

Snotloud burst out "This can never be an easy home! That must be Valhalla!”

Marinette ignores him and serves tea with a snap of her fingers. The tea poured out of the teapot and landed in the teacups in front of the teens.

The dragon riders were more than amazed how Marinette poured them the tea.

Fishlegs squeals at the sight.

Astrid was amazed how she serves the tea, but she admires more the teacups "What is this teacup made of?"

"Made of porcelain," replies Marinette.

Neither Astrid nor the others have seen mugs made out of anything other than metal or a horn.

The dragon riders picked up their cups and began to drink. What they were drinking wasn't a tea they already knew. It was more pleasant in taste and more soothing.

They then look at the mountain of pastries in front of them, for the dragons a lot of fried fish was prepared. They had never seen pastries like this before and were a little put off by the delicious appearance.

The dragons had no qualms and immediately started eating the fish.

Fishlegs was the first to take one. When he eats it, his eyes almost pop out of his head.

"I've never eaten anything so delicious!" exclaimed Fishlegs. He couldn't help it as he started eating piece by piece.

His friends were curious and started eating it too, and just like fishlegs, they've never eaten anything so delicious.

"This taste is incredible!" exclaimed Astrid in delight.

Marinette says with a toothy smile, "Thanks, I baked them myself."

The dragon riders looked at her dumbstrucked.

Ruffnut says amazed to Hiccup "You have convinced me. She's definitely a Valkyrie.”

Marinette asks while taking another sip of her tea, "A Valkyrie? Is that what I am?

Hiccup asks "You don't know what you are?"

Marinette slowly shakes her head. She puts down her cup as she explains, "No. I don't know who or what I am. I can only remember my name.”

Astrid exchanges a look with Hiccup before looking at Marinette and asking "Could it be that you have amnesia?"

Marinette shrugged "That would be the most logical assumption."

The Dragon Riders, at least Hiccup, Astrid, and Fishlegs have millions of questions.

Before they could say anything, though, Marinette says to the Dragon Riders, "I think it's time for our official introductions." She puts a hand on her chest as she introduces herself, "My name is Marinette, and as I understood through you, I’m a Valkyrie.”

While the rest of the Dragon Riders accepted their name, Snotloud started to laugh, "Seriously? Your name is Marinette?”

Marinette is not amused.

The rest of the dragon riders look at Snotloud with a blank expression.

Fishlegs asks "Is it really wise to make fun of a Valkyrie's name?"

Snotloud waves it of. He puffs out his chest as he says "I'm the world famous Snotloud."

Marinette says with a blank expression, "Seriously? snotloud? And you're making fun of Marinette?"

Snotloud blushed in embarrassment as the others, including the dragons starting to laugh at it.

Marinette looks at the others as she says, "I hope your names don't sound dumber than Snotloud."

The rest had to laugh, but Hiccup introduced everyone "May I introduce you..." he points first to Astrid, then to Fishlegs, then to the twins, then to their dragons and finally to himself "These are Astrid, Fishlegs, the twins are called Ruffnut and Tuffnut, then there's Toothless, Stormfly, Meatlug, Hookfang, Barf and Belch. And I'm Hiccup."

Marinette nods "Those are interesting names." She looks pointedly at Snotloud as she says "At least your names sound better."

Snotloud sinks deeper into the couch, embarrassed.

Marinette looks at the others as she asks "Why did you come here?"

Hiccup took the lead and says, "We're here because we heard rumors of a Valkyrie rescuing the dragons from the clutches of the dragon hunters."

"That's interesting and true, but how did you know I live here?"

"Do you remember the captain you rescued four days ago?" asks Astrid.

Marinette nods as if she understands everything "So that's how you found out where I live."

Astrid nods “Believe me when I say that meeting you was incredible. I've never seen one person drive off so many dragon hunters at once in my life."

Marinette waves it of "That was nothing."

"I wouldn't call it that, but thank you anyway." Astrid replies.

"Nothing to thank for."

Hiccup clears his throat before asking, "You said you probably had amnesia. Can you tell us a little bit about that?”

"What am I supposed to tell you about it if I don't even know how it came about?" Marinette replies.

"Maybe we can help you get your memories back?" suggests Fishlegs.

Marinette thinks for a moment before saying, "I don't think so. I don't even know you all, and I don't know what your motives might be." She looks at the dragons as she says, "The only reason I didn't drive you off this island is because the dragons seem to like you all.”

Fishlegs paled at the thought of a Valkyrie attacking them.

Snotloud was about to say something arrogantly, but before he could say anything, Astrid claps a hand over his mouth and says in a menacing tone "Whatever you're going to say, don't say it." just as the twins were about to make fun of it, Astrid looks at them with the same look and threatens "The same goes for both of you."

Snotloud and the twins nodded frantically.

Hiccup ignores his friends and says to Marinette, "Maybe we could prove to you that we're not up to anything bad."

Marinette side glanced at Toothless as she said "All right, you want me to trust you then tell me why the Night Fury had a prosthetic tail."

Hiccup says sheepishly, "It was kinda my fault."

"What?!" Marinette burst out, scaring the Dragon Riders a little. She stood up and grabbed Hiccup by the collar with one hand and picked him up. "You cut off his tail?!"

"No- I mean yes- I mean- argh!" Hiccup didn't know what to say.

Luckily, Toothless seemed to be snarling the right thing, as Marinette lets go of Hiccup, whereupon he lands back on the couch.

Marinette looks at Toothless as she asks "What do you mean it's a misunderstanding?"

Toothless growls something, and Marinette replies, "How is that supposed to be great?"

The Dragon Riders watch as Marinette and Toothless have what appears to be a normal conversation.

Fishlegs asks amazed and excited "You can understand the language of the dragons?"

Marinette tilted her head "Can’t you?"

Fishlegs shakes his head "No, none of us can."

Hiccup asks "What did you talk to Toothless about?"

Marinette says, while sitting back down in her chair "Long story short, he told me about how you two met." She frowns as she adds, "I can't exactly say that I liked what he said, but I accept it.”

Hiccup says sheepishly, "I know it's not the best backstory, but it's our backstory."

Marinette nods slowly, "That's all well and good, but it still doesn't give me a reason to trust you guys."

Astrid puts a hand on her chest and says full of deference "Then let us tell you a little about us, then you will see that we mean no harm."

Marinette accepts Astrid's suggestion, after which the Dragon Riders begin to tell what they have experienced since befriending the dragons.

After the narration, Marinette says, "It's really impressive what you experienced."

Toothless jumped on Hiccup and started licking his face. Hiccup says while laughing "I wouldn't trade our friendship for anything in the world."

Marinette giggled at the sight. She says with a small smile, "I see that unlike the dragon hunters, you all appreciate the dragons."

Hiccup nodded "It was an interesting development anyway."

Astrid asks a little hesitantly "Now that you've heard what we've been through, we could help you."

Marinette thinks for a bit before saying, "All right, you've convinced me."

Astrid internally squeals that she may help a Valkyrie. She clears her throat before saying "Tell us about yourself."

Marinette shrugged as she says, "There's not much to tell. I woke up on the island two months ago where I saved you all, since then I have been protecting the dragons and driving away the dragon hunters."

Fishlegs hesitantly asks "What's the last thing you remember before you woke up on the island."

Astrid nodded in agreement "Try to concentrate. Close your eyes and describe what you see."

Marinette did as Astrid said. She closes her eyes and tries to think back "I remember fragments. I swing through a glowing city and fight all sorts of monsters every day. I'm the leader of a team, at least I'm a member of a team where everyone is dressed similarly to me and have similar weapons and abilities. The last thing I see is how I'm hit by a small fast projectile, followed by a blinding red light. Then I woke up in a field of grass with no memories.”

When she opened her eyes again, she saw the dragon riders staring at her with wide eyes and open mouths.

Marinette asks a little confused "What?"

"It's true." says Snotloud, stunned. "You're a Valkyrie."

It was Astrid who said excitedly, "It's like the stories my mother used to tell me about Valkyries."

Marinette asks "What stories?"

Astrid started to talk "It is said that Valkyries lead the fallen warriors to Valhalla. But they are not only guides, but also the mightiest warriors of Valhalla. They protect Valhalla from dangers from other realms and are subordinate to Odin, the Allfather.”

Fishlegs perked up when an idea struck him "How about you try to draw the things you can remember? Maybe it would help you."

He's asking a little out of self-interest, there he is really curious how the things Marinette described looks like.

In a blink of an eye, Marinette left the room and returned just as quickly with a notebook.

Hiccup asks, impressed, "Is that the notebook you got from Johann?“

Marinette nods and says as she places the notebook in front of the Dragon Riders, "I've already jotted down the things that went through my head. But they still don’t help me.“

The teens and dragons gathered around the notebook.

Hiccup took the notebook and opened the first page, leaving him and the others speechless. The first picture they saw was an impressive city.

Fishlegs gasped in realization "This must be Valhalla!"

Snotloud almost cried. "It's even more impressive than I ever imagined it."

None of his friends could deny it. The drawing alone was impressive. They couldn't imagine what it would be like to see it with their own eyes or to live there.

After studying it, Hiccup flips to the next page. The next picture shows a group picture of Marinette's team, with Marinette in the middle.

Astrid says, impressed, "That must be the other Valkyries and warriors of Valhalla!"

Snotloud was about to open his mouth and say that he was stronger than all of them put together, but he chose to keep his mouth shut since he was in the presence of a Valkyrie.

The next page shows one of the monsters Marinette mentioned. It looked like a huge stone monster. The side page shows a drawing how it attacks the city with other stone monsters.

Fishleg says anxiously, "I wouldn't want to meet a thing like that in the dark at night."

Hiccup was already impressed by the monster, but he still flips to the next page and already sees the next monster. It was some kind of witch with an umbrella. On the page next to it is pictured how she froze the city.

Tuffnut whistles "That's my kind of woman!"

The others deadpanned at his statement.

Hiccup turns to the next page. Then they saw a knight attacking the city with his army.

The next few pages show many more monsters attacking and threatening Valhalla. The Dragon Riders were amazed at how many monsters Marinette fought.

The last page shows a man with a cane. What was strange about him was that he was surrounded by a lot of black and white butterflies.

Almost five minutes passed before Astrid broke the silence. "How did you manage to fight so many monsters?"

Marinette shrugged "I don't know it myself."

Fishlegs curiously asks, "How could the monsters attack Valhalla and Valhalla still remain standing?"

Instead of telling him, Marinette finishes her tea and smashes her teacup on the coffee table, breaking it.

The teens stared in confusion, only the twins laughed.

Before anyone could ask why she did it, Marinette places her hand over the broken teacup, causing the shards to glow red. The dragon riders watched wide-eyed as the broken teacup fixed before their eyes.

"I think after every fight I did something like that to rebuild Valhalla." says Marinette as she holds up the cup.

All gaped at the explanation.

Astrid says excitedly "That's unbelievable!"

Hiccup perked up in knowledge. He looks at Toothless Tail as he says "That's what you did with Toothless Tail."

Marinette nods. "When I saw his broken tail, I felt like I could fix it."

Astrid looks at Hiccup's leg before looking at Marinette and asks "Does it only work on dragons and objects, or could you do it on humans too?"

Marinette rubs her chin as she says "I think it should work on humans too. Why?"

Before Hiccup knew any better, Astrid grabbed his leg and roughly lifted it onto the coffee table. "Can you try it on his foot then?"

Marinette didn't know why and was just about to start healing it when the roar of the Thunderdrum was heard.

Fishlegs asks confused "Was that a thunder drum?"

Marinette explains as she stands and grabs her sword, "The Thunderdrum always roars when it sees danger."

Hiccup says, fascinated, "So the Thunderdrum's roar is a warning system."

“Correct," Marinette says as she makes her way out.

The teens and dragons exchange a look before starting to follow her. Fishlegs returned to the coffee table for a brief moment to grab a pastry and then ran after his friends.

Once they were all outside, Marinette wasted no time and jumped up onto her roof.

Although the Dragon Riders were very impressed with how high Marinette can jump, they were more than curious as to what was going on.

They flew to the roof with their dragons.

Hiccup, while dismounting from Toothless, asks "Marinette, what's going on?"

Marinette replies while holding up her sword, "See for yourself."

Hiccup and the others looked at the sword and what they saw left them speechless. They see numerous ships of the dragon hunters sailing somewhere. It's like looking through a telescope.

Hiccup pulls out his telescope and tries it out, but he could barely see past this island.

"What kind of magic sword is that?" asks Astrid in astonishment.

"It would take too long to explain." Marinette replies while zooming in on the direction of the ships “Judging by the position of the ships, they will arrive in a few minutes there on this island.”

The teens gasped in fright.

Tuffnut scratched his head "Somehow the island looks familiar to me."

"That's Berk you idiot!" shouts Astrid.

"Odd name for an island." says Marinette as she sheaths her sword. "But nonetheless, the inhabitants of this island are in trouble and need help."

The dragon riders were taken back.

Fishlegs asks "You want to help us protect our homeland?"

Marinette nods.

"Even though you don't know us?" asks Hiccup.

Marinette playfully rolls her eyes "That didn't stop me from rescuing you guys the first time."

"That's right." Astrid says "What's your plan?"

"First we have to go there." Marinette explains. "We can figure out the rest along the way."

Hiccup says as he and his friends mount the dragons, "Jump on, we'll take off right away."

Marinette climbed onto the Stormfly behind Astrid and asks "Mind if I go with you?"

"By no means." Astrid says happily.

Astrid was more than thrilled that Marinette decided to fly with her. She felt it was a special honor to help a Valkyrie.

Snotloud asks while flexing his arms, "Wouldn't you rather fly with someone who's a real man."

Astrid deadpanned.

Marinette says with a sneer, "If I see a real man, I'll think about it, but until then, I'd rather stick with someone who doesn't say stupid things."

Snotloud deflated on top of his dragon, Hookfang making noises like he was laughing.

Hiccup says "Let's not waste any more time! Our homeland needs us!”

They cheers “Yeah!“

They then started flying in the direction of Berk.

Chapter Text

Marinette and the Dragon Riders flew in the direction of Berk on their dragons.

While on their way, the Dragon Riders discussed various plans, some of which Marinette disagreed with, particularly Snotlout and the twins plans.

"For the last time no." says Marinette as she glares towards the twins.

"Why not?" Ruffnut wails. "That would be beyond awesome!"

"Because I'm certainly not going to create a hurricane on an island full of humans and dragons." says Marinette as if it were obvious.

Snotlout says with a huff, "Then suggest you a plan."

Marinette pulls out her sword and looks at the island with it. Then she saw how the dragon hunters started attacking the residents of Berk.

"The people of Berk are under attack right now, so it's best to strike quickly, but I still want to cause as little damage as possible." says Marinette "The dragon hunters don't know that we're on our way, we can use that to our advantage. It would be best to evacuate the humans and dragons that cannot fight or are injured. Therefore, one part should be responsible for the evacuation and the other part to drive away the dragon hunters.

The Dragon Riders were all impressed by Marinette's plan.

Marinette continues “The two groups are as follows. Fishlegs you, the twins and Snotlout will be in charge of the evacuation. While Hiccup, Astrid and I fight the dragon hunters."

"Wait a minute." says Snotlout "Why should I join the evacuation group? I am a true warrior and I demand to be in the group that fights.”

Astrid was about to yell at him, but Marinette was quicker as she says "It's a real shame, you've been given the task of a true warrior."

Snotlout was all ears.

Marinette says as if it's a great deed, "Your order was to lead the innocent out of harm's way and protect them. Like a true warrior. But if you think you're not up to the task, then..."

"No, no, no!" says Snotlout while shaking his hands frantically. He put his hand on his chest as he says, "I, the great Snotlout, will carry out the task a Valkyrie has given me like a true warrior!"

He then began flying higher with hookfang and doing loops while shouting his battle cry, "Snotlout! Snotlout! Oi! Oi! Oi!”

Once out of earshot, Astrid says, "He actually believed that lie."

"That wasn't a lie." replies Marinette.

Astrid asks surprised "Wasn't it?"

Marinette shakes her head "I hate lies. Evacuating the innocent is a very important task. Probably even more important than fighting the enemy. Because they have two tasks in an evacuation. Bringing the residents of Berk to safety and defending them.”

Astrid was taken back. She has never seen it like this before.

Marinette points to Snotlout as she adds, "Also, I think he'd do less damage when evacuating than if he helped us fight the dragon hunters."

Astrid chuckles "That makes sense."

Hiccup says, "It won't be long before we arrive. How is the situation?"

Marinette looked at her sword again and tells what she sees "Both the Vikings and the dragon hunters fight each other mercilessly. I see lots of people lying on the ground and dragons in cages. However, I can't tell if they're injured or worse."

The dragon riders fervently hope that the residents of Berk are only injured. They could not bear to see their family, friends or acquaintances pass away.

Marinette says as she begins to stand up on Stormfly "As planned, we will now go in two groups. Fishlegs, Snotlout, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut, begin evacuation as soon as we attack. Astrid and Hiccup, I'll draw the attention of the dragon hunters to me. Wait a few minutes before you join me.”

"Understood!" everyone shouted at the same time.

Marinette wasted no time and jumped down.

The dragon riders look after her startled.

"Someone has to catch her!" Fishlegs screams in terror.

Hiccup was about to fly after her when he saw Marinette start to practically running very fast through the air, as if she were running on an invisible path.

The dragon riders watch in amazement as Marinette runs towards the island faster than they can fly.

After a few seconds of silence, Ruffnut asks confused "What do we do now?"

"That what Marinette tell us." says Hiccup.

"What did she tell us?" asks Tuffnut. "I wasn't paying attention."

Ruffnut adds, "Neither did I."

Hiccup facepalmed "You two never seem to pay attention."

"Nope." the twins say in unison.

Astrid says, annoyed, "Fly with Fishlegs, he'll explain everything to you."

———————————————————————
Meanwhile on Berk.

Chaos rages on the island. There was devastation everywhere. Many of the houses were destroyed or burns. The area burned and stinks of ash and blood. There were many dead and wounded on both sides.

The Vikings were surprised by the sudden appearance of the dragon hunters.

The Vikings, led by Stoick, join forces with the dragons to fight against the Dragon Hunters, led by Viggo and Ryker.

The dragon hunters are far superior in numbers, they also have the better weapons of war like giant crossbows or catapults, but the Vikings didn't give up despite everything.

The dragons were mostly locked in cages or lying around restraint or lifeless.

Despite defeating dozens of dragon hunters and seeing many of his closest friends and Vikings perish, Stoick fought on.

After Stoick decapitated a hunter, two new ones rushed towards him. From one hunter, Stoick repels the ax attack by severing his arm and then decapitating him and then using his corpse as a shield against the second hunter. When the second hunter realized that he was attacking his fallen comrade, it was too late for him to dodge Stoick's deadly ax attack.

When the two bodies of the hunters fell to the ground, Stoick was shot in the back with an arrow. He staggered a little but remained standing until three more arrows hit him in the back and one in the shoulder. He dropped the ax as he fell to his knees.

As he got to his knees, three hunters charged him. Just before they reached him, Gobber came with Mulch and Bucket, each of them killing a hunter.

Shortly thereafter, several dozen hunters began charging at them. It was clear to them that they were after the chief.

Gobber says to the other two "Take the chief out of here! In the meantime, I'll take care of our visitors."

Stoick didn't get a chance to speak as Mulch and Bucket steadied him and led him toward the great hall.

Gobber fought valiantly against one hunter after another. He managed to defeat many hunters, either killing or injuring them, but in the end there were too many. They practically overran him and missed a lot of cuts. Just before he died, however, he managed to take three hunters with him to his death.

Stoick could do nothing but watch helplessly as his best friend fell lifeless to the ground while he himself was led to safety.

Just before Mulch and Bucket made it to the great hall, it suddenly exploded with the people inside who searched safety.

Stoick, Mulch, and Bucket were thrown backwards from the force of the blast.

Stoick and Bucket landed hard, while Mulch died on impact.

Bucket got up, dazed. Seeing Mulch's lifeless body, he staggered over to him and tried to wake him. Realizing that he wasn't going to wake up, Bucket let out an animal scream.

Bucket grabs an ax lying on the ground and begins killing any hunter who approaches him.

Even after getting four arrows in his arms and legs, he didn't stop. He fought resolutely to avenge his friend and to defend the people of Berk.

He slaughtered many opponents, and each time he was wounded he continued to fight undeterred until a sword pierced his chest from behind.

The sword belongs to Ryker. However, he is not alone. With him were his brother and superior Viggo, many dozens of hunters and many villagers who have been taken hostage. Among the hostages were many women, including Gothi, almost all the children from the village, and the Vikings who were injured in the battle.

Six hunters went to Stoick and held him down.

Viggo stepped forward so Stoick could see him clearly. He claps his hands slowly as he says, "What a spectacle. I haven't enjoyed anything like that for a long time." He looks at Bucket as he continues talking. "I especially liked the act with the brainless Viking."

As if Ryker had received an order, he draws out his sword. Bucket staggers around a bit disoriented before attacking Viggo with his last bit of power, but Viggo was able to just step aside and finish off Bucket with his sword.

All the hostages watch in disbelief as Bucket, the last fighter, falls lifeless to the ground. Some of the children even started crying.

Viggo disrespectfully wipes the blood from his sword on Bucket's clothes. He says while examining his sword, "Since I seem to have everyone's attention, I'll share the reason for my little visit. As you may have heard, many of my ships and hideouts have been destroyed.”

"What does that have to do with us!" shouts Stoick.

"A lot," replies Viggo. He places his sword under Stoick's chin, but he doesn't flinch.

Viggo continues, "Your son and his friends destroyed all my belongings and stole all my dragons."

"That's a lie!" Stoick yells. "Neither Hiccup nor his friends had anything to do with it. It was all the Valkyrie.”

Viggo huffs "More lies? There is no Valkyrie.”

His brother and men told him about the Valkyrie after the first incident, but Viggo never believed it. Not even after all the other incidents. He thinks they invented the Valkyrie to not admit that six teens screwing them up.

Viggo waves to the hostages as he speaks "To make amends for what your dragon riders have done to me, I will take both your island as a new sanctuary and your dragons for all that has been taken from me."

"Never!" one of the hostages yells and Ryker immediately beheads him.

The hostages were shocked at the sight, and one of the women even threw up.

"It really wasn't necessary, especially since only the chief has a say in it." says Viggo mockingly to his brother.

Stoick glares at Viggo as he says "You won't get this island nor the dragons!"

Viggo replies with a devious smile, "Unfortunately, you don't have a choice."

He stopped next to his brother as he says "Make it colorful."

Ryker walked over to Stoick with a sadistic smile.

The hunters holding Stoick place a tree stump in front of him and then place his head on it.

Ryker swings his sword back, but doesn't strike yet.

Viggo stepped in front of Stoick and asked "Any last words?"

In response, Stoick spits him on his shoes.

"Doesn't look like it." says Viggo. He looks at the hostages as he says, "Let this be a lesson for you all. Anyone who messes with me can only await the death.”

He nods to his brother, and Ryker begins swinging his sword.

The hostages screamed and tried to do anything to save their chief, but to no avail.

For Stoick, it felt like time had stopped. He watched his life go by in his mind's eye. His last thought was 'See you soon Valka.'

He closed his eyes and waited for the blow that would end his life. But it never came.

Looking up, Stoick sees a strangely dressed girl holding Ryker's sword with almost no effort. The strange thing was that she was holding it by the pointy blade with one hand.

Marinette looks at Stoick out of the corner of her eye as she says to him, "Valhalla will have to wait for you."

When she said that, he knew who was standing in front of him. It was the Valkyrie who saved his son and friends.

Marinette effortlessly pushes Ryker towards his brother, then with a small gust of wind pushes the six hunters who were still holding Stoick away.

Marinette says to Ryker as she begins to pull the arrows out of Stoick's body, "I see you haven't learned your lesson from last time."

Both Ryker and some of the hunters who were there last time gulped.

Viggo asks "Do you know her, Ryker?"

Ryker replies without sounding afraid "That's the Valkyrie."

Viggo looks at Marinette doubtfully "You're a Valkyrie?"

"Looks like it," says Marinette as she pulls out the last arrow and throws it away. She then holds a hand over Stoick, whereupon a red light shines that makes all his injuries and pain disappear completely.

Both the hunters and the hostages were flabbergasted at the sight.

Marinette looks at the hostages, then at the hunters standing behind them, holding them down. She cracks her knuckles as she says, "Now that the chief has been settled, it's time to free the remaining hostages."

No one even had time to understand what she meant when she freed all the hostages in a blink of an eye and knocked the hunters unconscious who were restraining them. Then she was back where she was standing before with the freed hostages behind her.

Marinette looks around and says, as if noticing the fire for the first time, "Before we go any further, I should probably take care of the fire first."

She snaps her fingers and it started raining, stunning everyone present.

The rain managed to put out the fire across the island and when the last spark went out the rain stopped.

Viggo was more than amazed. He has never seen anyone so powerful before. Despite everything, he didn't want to admit defeat. He whispers something to his brother, whereupon Ryker immediately runs towards the shore with some of the hunters.

Viggo says to Marinette, "I have to admit I'm impressed. It's not every day you meet a Valkyrie. It's even rarer to fight one. In a way, I feel honored.”

"Then feel honored to surrender." replies Marinette.

Instead of accepting it, Viggo started laughing darkly, "I can't and won't do that." He points his sword at Marinette as he continues, "I admit you're powerful, and in a fair fight I probably wouldn't have any Chance against you. But even someone like you will have to submit to my army.”

"I'm not thinking of it." Marinette replies with a huff. "I'm going to teach you and your dragon hunters a lesson once and for all."

"Oh, yeah?" asks Viggo with a sinister smile. He waves to his men behind him, "The hunters you see here are just a tiny part of my mighty army. As soon as the rest of my men get here, they will overwhelm you, just like they have already done to the rest of the island.”

Marinette drew her sword and said without a sign of fear, "Let them come. I've fought more dangerous opponents than a few mindless dragon hunters."

Viggo was sure that she was just bluffing, "Face it, you're all alone against a huge army."

Marinette asks with a devious smile, "Who said that I was alone?"

Suddenly, Hiccup and Astrid appeared on Toothless and Stormfly and started to attacking the hunters.

The hunters were started. Those among them who possessed a crossbow tried to shoot down the dragons, but they didn't get a chance to do so as all of the weapons disappeared, appearing on the ground in front of Marinette.

When the hunters were busy with Hiccup and Astrid, Marinette looks at the Vikings and says, "Anybody who can wield a weapon, get one." She waves behind her to Fishlegs, Snotlout, and the Twins, who are evacuating many people, "The rest of you should run to safety.”

The Vikings did what Marinette said. Stoick was the first to grab two axes, some of the rest also took a weapon while the rest, including Gothi, children and injured, run to the remaining Dragon Riders.

Marinette really wasn't a fan of violence, but with all the chaos she saw in front of her, she couldn't help but teach the dragon hunters a lesson once and for all.

The dragon hunters practically had their backs against the wall. They were out of weapons and now outnumbered.

Suddenly a horn sounds, while the Vikings did not know why it sounds, Viggo knew exactly why.

Viggo ran towards the shore with his remaining hunters. As he runs he thinks, 'Everything should be prepared.'

Marinette didn't immediately run after them because she suspected something. She turns to Hiccup and Adtrid, who are talking to Stoick.

When Marinette has the attention of them and the rest of the Vikings, she says, "The dragon hunters must have planned something, so be careful."

She didn't wait for anyone to say anything and ran like the wind towards the coast.

———————————————————————

It didn't take Marinette long to reach the shore. She saw several hundred dragon hunters gathered, both with weapons of war like catapults and giant crossbows as well as normal weapons.

Marinette stopped and surveyed everything as Viggo and Ryker step in front of their men.

Some of the hunters seemed to recognize Marinette. Some of them either getting angry or scared.

Viggo spreads his arms as if to welcome Marinette. "If that isn't the great and mighty Valkyrie. As you can see, these are my remaining fighters and war machines. With an order from me my men will overrun you and this island and destroy everything down to the ground. Even if you’re powerful, you’re still only one person.“

Marinette doesn't like having to fight so many hunters, not because she's scared but because she doesn't like hurting people, even if the hunters are scum in her eyes. But if she wants to make a mark once and for all, then she mustn't shy away.

Marinette replies, "If you want a fight, come here. I won't run away."

"Not so hasty." says Viggo "I could consider to spare this island, but only if you join me."

Marinette asks more out of curiosity than interest "Why?"

Viggo explains with a sinister ulterior motive, “There are untold possibilities when I have a Valkyrie under my command. Greater possibilities than owning thousands of dragons.”

Marinette's response was almost immediate, "Never."

"Then you leave me no choice." Viggo points his sword at her as he commands, "Seize the Valkyrie and destroy the rest of this island!"

The second he said that, Marinette snaps her fingers, causing lightning to erupt from the sky, destroying all of the Dragon Hunters war machines. The hunters standing nearby were knocked away by the impact.

Everyone stares in bewilderment at the destroyed war machines, then at the Valkyrie. They still held their normal weapons, but with trembling hands and fear in their faces.

When Marinette saw the weapons, she threw her hand forward, creating a gust of wind strong enough to knock the weapons off the hunters hands and blowing them into the sea.

Not even Viggo or Ryker could hold their swords.

Viggo was more than angry, but he was even more frightened, which he didn't want to admit. He orders "Attack her!"

The hunters hesitantly started running in the direction of the Valkyrie. They stopped after only a few steps when Marinette raised her sword.

Marinette slashed the air with her sword, creating a huge wind slash that flies toward the hunters.

The hunters huddle together in anticipation of being cut in half, but they were reassured when the wind slash flies over their heads. At least until they hear broken wood and metal behind them.

When they turn around they see all the cages destroyed and the dragons start to come out.

The dragon hunters were now practically surrounded. On one side were the dragons, on the other the Valkyrie.

Marinette slowly started walking toward the hunters, which startles them greatly. She paused out of reach of them as she spoke, "Now this is your last chance! Surrender and I will show mercy! Keep fighting and die a senseless dead!”

She has no intention of killing anyone, but they don't need to know that.

The hunters were tempted to give up and Viggo could see that clearly. So he went straight for Marinette. As he got close to her, he tried to attack her, but she responded with a painful slap to his face.

As he falls to the ground clutching his cheek, Marinette says, "Can't you hear? I told you to surrender."

Full of anger and hatred, he attacked Marinette again, but she slapped him again, this time on his other cheek.

He staggers a little but doesn't fall to the ground this time. When he tries to attack Marinette again, it becomes too much for Marinette and she is paralyzed him with a small electric shock.

Then she grabbed his collar and started to speak. With every word she slapped him alternately on each cheek. "You should surrender and stop attacking dragons and humans! Why are you even doing this?! Do you think you're something special?! Do you think people are afraid of you?! Where did your stupid ideas come from?! Out of the garbage?! If I see you doing something like that again, I'll gut you personally like a fish!"

She doesn't expect answers, she just wanted to vent her frustration.

The dragon hunters stare in wide-eyed fear as their leader is slapped repeatedly. They were too afraid to do anything. Not even his brother dared to do anything.

After what felt like an eternity, Marinette stopped slapping Viggo and dropped him on the ground like a sack of flour. His face was bright red and swollen. The swelling made it difficult to tell if his eyes were open or closed. That his right foot twitched every now and then was the only proof that he was still alive.

Marinette wipes the sweat from her forehead and lets out a "Phew! That might have been time consuming.” She looks at the hunters as she says with a friendly yet intimidating smile, “I hope I made myself clear enough.”

Almost all hunters cringe at the sight of her smile.

It wasn't long before the first hunters took off their helmets and fell to their knees. One by one, they also removed their helmets and fell to their knees until only Ryker remained standing.

Marinette says to Ryker, "This is your last chance."

Ryker looks first at the wrecked war machines, then at the dragons surrounding them, and finally at his brother, who lies twitching on the ground at Marinette's feet.

Ryker exhales heavily before falling to his knees as well. He spoke for all "We surrender great Valkyrie. Please have mercy with our souls.”

Marinette doesn't reply, she just puts her sword away. She realizes that even though the dragon hunters have surrendered, she cannot let them roam free. She has considered tying up the hunters. As she turns to look for a rope or something, she sees the residents of Berk watching from a little further away. From their expressions Marinette could tell that they were watching everything.

Marinette points a thumb to the dragon hunters as she asks the Vikings "Can you get some ropes or chains so we can tie up the dragon hunters?"

Almost all Vikings immediately went to get the things, while Stoick, Hiccup, Astrid, and their dragons. gathers in front of Marinette.

Stoick respectfully says, "Thank you, great Valkyrie. Without you, our island would no longer stand."

Marinette didn't know what to say in reply. Especially since most of the island is destroyed.

Luckily she didn't have to say anything when the Vikings came back with lots of ropes and chains.

One of the Vikings asks "Is that enough?"

Marinette says as she looks at the ropes and chains, "That should do it."

She wasted no time, she grabbed the ropes and chains and immediately began to tie up the hunters very quickly.

Within three seconds she was back in front of Stoick and the others.

Every single Viking was more than impressed with Marinette's abilities.

While Hiccup and Astrid have seen Marinette's abilities firsthand, was it still amazing to see what she's capable of.

———————————————————————

Although the Vikings were overjoyed that their island was saved, they couldn't celebrate. Especially since this victory came with many losses.

Stoick ordered his Vikings to gather all the corpses on the village square.

The Vikings spent a long time gathering and lining up all the corpses.

As Marinette and the Dragon Riders walk through the ruined village, they see many mourning the fallen men, women and children.

They see a father holding his dead daughter tightly against his chest. He unable to stop crying.

When they keep walking they see two crying children hug their death father and tell him to wake up.

The situation was not much different on other places. Everywhere there was at least one mourner.

The mood was so gloomy that not even the twins dared to say something stupid.

Hiccup went with the rest to his father, who was standing in front of the bodies of Gobber, Mulch, and Bucket.

You couldn't tell by looking at Stoick, but Hiccup could clearly see that he was mourning the three who defended him to the end.

Hiccup says carefully, "Father, it's about time."

Stoick nods and starts walking towards the middle of the village square.

Marinette and the dragon riders followed him. None of the teens dared say anything, not even Snotlout.

As they walked, Marinette thought to herself, 'I remember doing something in a situation like this, but I don't know what.'

As Stoick stood in the middle, the Vikings slowly began to gather around him.

Stoick said, "I don't want to put it nicely, so I'll get straight to the point. We've all lost someone we cared about. Women, men, children, friends, acquaintances. We can rest assured that they will travel to Valhalla.”

Before Stoick could speak any further, Marinette stepped forward and said, "I'm sorry Chief, but I have to disappoint you. They will not travel to Valhalla.” She looks at the crowd as she adds, “None of them.”

Everyone is shocked by her statement.

Stunned, Stoick asks "Will you deny them Valhalla?"

Marinette replies, "In a way, yes."

The Vikings stare at Marinette, startled. Even if a Valkyrie says something like that, they couldn't take it.

"What do you mean by that?" Astrid asks in a panic "Should it mean that the Vikings died a senseless death and that Valhalla is denied to them."

Marinette replies, "People did really die senseless, but that's not why they're denied Valhalla."

Those present began to stare at Marinette in disbelief. Some of them started crying, afraid that their loved ones won't go to Valhalla.

Hiccup frantically asks "What else will happen to the dead Vikings?! Don't tell me you're going to send them to Helheim!"

Marinette doesn't reply. She slowly walked towards Toothless. Before they knew any better, she mounted his saddle and flew high into the air.

Hiccup and his friends were about to follow them until they notice Marinette hovering over the island.

Marinette takes a deep breath in and out. She says "It's now or never." and raised her hand in the air.

Everyone present could see a red light appear from Marinette's hand and then move around the whole island. It could only be a trick of the light, but those present could swear that many thousands of ladybugs were rapidly swarming around the island.

Everything that the light touches shines with new life. Anything destroyed during the battle was restored. All huts, plants, barrels and other items were restored.

However, the light not only manages to restore objects, but also to bring all death people to new life.

The Vikings were stunned when their loved ones got up as if nothing had happened.

The Vikings stood speechless for a moment until a little girl screams "Daddy!" and runs to her father and hugs him tightly.

The rest of the Vikings, including Stoic, did the same and ran to their wives, husbands, children, friends and or acquaintances.

Hiccup and his friends looked at everything in bewilderment. They look up at Marinette, who for some reason started flying in a certain direction.

Fishlegs was the one who broke the silence when he asked "Did Marinette just..." he couldn't even finish his sentence, not out of fear but out of disbelief.

Astrid seemed to understand what he wanted to ask "It looks like she did."

Hiccup says while looking at the crying and laughing Vikings "She indeed brought everyone back to life."

"And fixed everything." adds Fishlegs.

If anyone still has a shred of doubt that Marinette is a Valkyrie, then she proved it with this action.

They were about to continue talking when they saw Marinette come back with Toothless.

Snotlout was the first to ask "Where have you been?"

Marinette replies, "I tied up the dragon hunters, who have also risen."

The dragon riders were amazed that Marinette brought the dead dragon hunters back to life as well, but they have more important things to learn.

Hiccup asks "How did you do all that?"

Marinette rubs her chin "I have no idea. I just suddenly felt like I could do that.”

That doesn't really answer Hiccup's question, but he accepts it. Especially since everyone who died today lives again.

Fishlegs asks curiously "What would you have done if it hadn't worked?"

Marinette shrugged "Then I probably would have run away from this island."

"That kind of makes sense." says Ruffnut.

"I would have run away after a speech like that myself." adds Tuffnut.

Marinette says "Good that's settled." She stretches as she says "If there's nothing left I'll be on my way home now."

"Wait!" Hiccup calls before Marinette could go. "Please stay a little longer. I'm sure the Vikings want to thank you."

"You're absolutely right." says Stoic as he and the rest of the Vikings approach them.

Stoic kneels respectfully in front of Marinette as he speaks, "Without you, none of us would be here. Thank you great Valkyrie.”

One by one they also began to kneel. The last to kneel are the Dragon Riders.

Every single Viking began to say thank you.

Marinette was taken back at the sight. She hadn't expected anything like this.

Stoick says, "Please stay here a little longer. We want to hold a celebration in your honor.”

Marinette would love to refuse, but with the pleading looks of those present, especially from the the kids, she couldn't bring herself to refuse.

Marinette exhales defeated as she says "All right, I will stay a little longer.“

Suddenly all the Vikings started cheering loudly.

Stoick raises his fist and shouts "Three cheers to the Valkyrie!"

The Vikings then began to cheer loudly.

Chapter 4: Agreement

Chapter Text

There's a big celebration on Berk. Almost all the people were gathered in the village square and celebrated like there was no tomorrow.

The Vikings drank, ate and danced around. The children played happily.

As for the dragon hunters, they are currently tied up in the old arena.

Marinette sits in the seat of honor at a large banquet table, with Stoick and the Dragon Riders seated to her left and right. Their dragons were eating a bunch of fish nearby.

Every now and then Vikings or children came by to thank Marinette.

The celebration lasted well into the night when the first people started going home.

Since it is very late and too dark to fly Marinette home, Astrid offered her to sleep in her house. Under other circumstances, Marinette would have turned down the offer, but since she's too tired, she agreed.

———————————————————————
The next morning in Astrid's hut.

Astrid and her parents woke up when they smelled a heavenly smell.

As they walked into the dining room, they saw Marinette serving breakfast, which they had never seen before.

When Marinette saw the family, she greeted everyone with a big smile, "Good morning! Breakfast is served!”

"This masterpiece is a breakfast?" asks Astrid's mother.

Marinette nods. "As a small thank you for letting me sleep here, I thought I could thank you with a small breakfast."

Astrid and her parents were about to say that it wasn't necessary, but just one look at the breakfast and they couldn't think of anything else but to eat it.

It was different from the breakfast they are already used to. They saw food that some of them never saw. There were eggs with bacon, pancakes with butter or syrup, fresh orange juice and sliced bread.

Astrid's and her parents mouths watered at the sight. They immediately started eating.

After the first bite they felt like they were in heaven.

After breakfast someone knocked on the door. It was Hiccup who gave Marinette the message that his father wanted to talk to her and that she should come to the Great Hall later.

———————————————————————
Later.

Marinette was on her way to the great hall with the Dragon Riders and Toothless. Marinette was the only one asked to go to the chief, but Marinette's new friends wanted to accompany her in case she needed help.

As they walk along, Marinette notices that the Vikings they pass occasionally glance at them before averting their eyes. Some of the Vikings even bowed to her as they passed.

Marinette whispers to the Dragon Riders, "Is there a reason that the people are looking at us so strangely?"

Fishlegs replies, "I think they're more likely looking at you. After all, a Valkyrie walks among mortals.”

Snotlout puffs out his chest as he says "Are you sure they don't rather admire the big Snotlout?"

Astrid deadpanned "Pretty sure."

It didn't take them long to reach the Great Hall. When they entered, they not only saw the chief, but also Gobber and Gothi. The three sat at a round table.

"It's good to see you all. Please sit down.” Stoick says and waves to the seats in front of them, whereupon Marinette and the Dragon Riders take a seat.

Marinette got straight to the point, "Why did you want to see me?"

Stoick explains, "On the one hand, to thank you again on behalf of all Vikings and, on the other hand, I wanted to ask you a favour."

"Which would be?" Marinette asks curiously.

"I would like to ask you to move here to our island."

Marinette was taken back "Come again."

Stoick better explains, "I would like you to move here to our island and teach us your way of life." He waves to Hiccup as he says, "My son already told me what he found out yesterday. How amazing your food is. And how amazing the furniture is. And how magically your house shines even though no fire is burning.”

Marinette waves her hands frantically as she declares, "Wait, wait, wait. First of all, I'm honored that you're inviting me to live on your island, but what your son is describing is normal stuff where I come from." She murmurs afterwards, "At least I think so."

"But your house shines without fire." says Fishlegs. "How do you explain that?"

Marinette shrugged "A lightbulb and electricity."

Everyone stares at her in confusion.

Marinette sighs, she grabs her sword, places it on the table and activates some sort of small portal. Everyone stares in disbelief as Marinette puts her hand into the portal and pulls out an object.

If they hadn't seen Marinette literally bring the dead back to life yesterday, they would all have millions of questions about the portal.

Marinette says while holding up the object, "This is a lightbulb. With electricity, it can provide light and heat to an area.”

"Electricity?" Gobber repeats.

Instead of explaining, Marinette creates a small spark with her right hand.

Everyone stares suspiciously at the lightbulb, unable to believe that such a small glass ball can withstand thunder.

Astrid asks "Can you show us?"

Marinette touches the bulb from below and lets electricity pass through it. As the light bulb shines brightly, everyone lets out a "Woah!"

Gothi immediately started writing something on the floor with her staff.

Gobber translates for everyone "What is this witchcraft?" Gobber nodded in agreement "I'd like to know that too."

"It's not witchcraft, it's technology," explains Marinette as she puts the lightbulb back into the portal. She looks at the dragon riders as she reminds them, "If you remember correctly, my house lit up without my doing anything."

Hiccup rubs his chin "Where you mention it. Your house was really luminous and warm inside. How is it possible?"

Marinette asks, "Do you remember the windmill in front of my house?" when Hiccup nods, Marinette explains, "I use it for two things. One to grind flour and the other to generate artificial electricity using wind.”

Everyone stares at her in bewilderment.

Marinette answers the question no one asked but had on everyone's mind "The answer is yes. It is possible to do it here on Berk. You don't even need magic for that, just knowledge.”

That surprised everyone.

Gothi started to write again.

Gobber translates again, "What for knowledge do you have?"

Marinette rubs her chin "A lot. For example, if Berk residents make just a little change in their quality of life, they can live longer.”

Fishlegs asks fascinated "Really? How?"

Marinette replies, "You all could start watching what you eat and be more careful about your hygiene."

"Hey!" shouts Snotlout offended "No insults!"

Marinette deadpanned "I meant it seriously." She began to explain what she actually meant. How they can live to an older age if they wash themself more often and don't eat spoiled food.

Fishlegs, who wrote everything down from the beginning, says impressed: "I never thought that we could live longer if we pay attention to hygiene and food."

Marinette shrugged "There's more that can be done about life expectancy. Not only that, there are many more ways to make life easier.”

After a moment's thought, Stoick says, "Exactly this knowledge can help us in the future." He looks respectfully and pleadingly at Marinette as he asks, "Is it possible for you to share your knowledge with us?"

Marinette leaned back in her seat and started thinking 'One of the things I could help them with is their quality of life. When I look at their village, they are very backward. Even yesterday's pastries and breakfast this morning were completely unfamiliar to them. Then there is the fact that most prostheses are either wooden stumps or hooks.'

Marinette looks at each one and thinks how much she actually misses living with people. The dragons she has befriended are great friends to her, but she couldn't explain why she would like to live among humans too. Especially people who have befriended dragons too.

'I think I know what I have to do.' Marinette thinks.

After what felt like an eternity, Marinette replied, "I've made my decision. I'm willing to move to this island and help out the villagers any way I can." Everyone perked up enthusiastically until Marinette said, "I do have some non-negotiable terms, however."

Stoick asks "What are your conditions?"

"First, I need somewhere a little remote on this island to place my house. Prefers a place where I can grow a garden.”

"That's no problem," says Stoick. "You can have the place where Mildew's old house stood."

Marinette nods as she continues "Then I want my dragon friends to accompany me here."

"That shouldn't be a problem either." says Hiccup.

Marinette looks at everyone as she says "Now comes the important part." Everyone waits anxiously to hear what Marinette has to say. "I don't want anyone to abuse my trust or power. Neither you nor anyone else may ask me to revive the dead.”

They were taken back.

Astrid asks more out of curiosity than to contradict Marinette "Why? You have the power to do it."

Marinette explains, "I have no problem using it when an incident like yesterday occurs. But I don't want anyone asking me to do it if someone dies a natural death."

Everyone finds that acceptable.

Stoick says “Your terms are reasonable and acceptable. I agree."

"Then I am hereby a resident of Berk." says Marinette as she extends her hand to shake the chief's hand.

After shaking hands, Gobber asks, "Now that that's settled, we need to discuss another issue. What do we do with the dragon hunters?"

Marinette says with a devious smile, "I have an idea."

———————————————————————
Later in the arena.

Stoick ordered his Vikings to gather all the dragon hunters in the arena.

The Dragon Hunters, saw the Valkyrie, Stoick, Gobber, Gothi, and the Dragon Riders watching them, on an elevated position.

Viggo stepped in front of his hunters and shouted "What do you think-"

He was cut off as a lightning struck in front of him and he fell backwards.

Marinette started to speak so, that everyone could hear her "I hope that I made it clear that no one wants to hear anything from you."

Viggo grit his teeth's. He stood up angrily and yells "You lousy-"

He was cut of again as another bolt of lightning struck and he staggered to his hunters.

Marinette says with narrowed eyes "This is the final warning. I won't miss my target another time."

Viggo would never admit it, but he was terrified.

Suddenly, Marinette jumped down from her elevated position and stood a few yards in front of the hunters, unharmed.

Some of the hunters gulped at the sight of the Valkyrie.

Marinette picked up her sword, which made some hunters startle or step back a few steps.

Marinette started to speak. "I'm going to say a few words to you all now, so listen carefully, because I won't repeat myself."

None of the hunters dared to say anything or look away.

Marinette continues “We've been deliberating for a long time about what to do with all of you. The most logical ideas were imprisonment, execution and community service.”

The hunters paled from the first two ideas.

Marinette points her sword to the hunters "I'd love to lead you all to Helheim right now..."

The hunters gasped in terror.

"But aside from the fact that it's the easiest way for us to keep you all away from the atrocities, you would learn nothing from it and the chaos you caused will live on for a long time. So we have decided that you will do community service to make up for your mistakes.”

Viggo scoffs but says nothing. He is already making plans on how he can trick the Valkyries and Vikings and escape with his hunters.

As if reading his mind, Marinette says, "And lest you think of betraying us, I'm going to keep all of your souls as a precaution."

Some of the hunters were scared, some of them were suspicious.

Marinette holds up her sword and a huge hologram appears showing a recording where all of the Dragon Hunters can be seen, including Viggo and Ryker.

Everyone present stares at the hologram in amazement and horror. At first, Hiccup thought Marinette was bluffing, but seeing the hologram sent a shiver down his spine. He makes a mental note that he would never upset Marinette.

Marinette says, turning off the hologram and sheathing her sword, "As you can see, I have all your souls, and I can do whatever I want with them at any time." what she says not only frightens the hunters "I will not do anything with the souls, only if you all behave yourselves." She glares "But just one misstep and your souls will go directly to Helheim."

The dragon hunters had no choice but to accept Marinette's offer.

After being satisfied with the sight, Marinette jumped up to join the others. While the dragon hunters being lead away by the Wikings.

When she lands in front of them she was a little confused as to why they all look scared.

Fishlegs was the first to anxiously ask, "Did you really steal their souls?"

Marinette started to laugh "Of course not." She points to her sword and explains all about the concept of photos and videos.

When she finished the others were confused, but they were relieved that Marinette didn’t steal their souls.

Marinette looks at Stoick as she says, "Now all you have to do is come up with a suitable punishment for the dragon hunters to deal with for the denizens of Berk and the dragons."

”I think I have an idea.“ says Hiccup.

Chapter 5: New life

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

A lot has happened since Marinette saved Berk from the dragon hunters.

She moved to Berk as she agreed with the chief and was able to transport her house to Mildew's old estate with the help of the Dragon Riders and her dragon friends.

They not only transported the house but also the stables and the windmill. The only thing they didn't transport was the garden, but they harvested all the fruit and vegetables from the old garden.

During the transport, the residents of Berk watched in amazement as practically a palace from another world was transported to Berk.

Once they secured the house and stables, Marinette could see almost all residents of Berk gather around and looking curious at her house.

She playfully rolls her eyes as she announces, "I'll give a little tour of my house to anyone who wants to see it."

People were more than excited to be given a tour of a Valkyrie's home.

———————————————————————

Marinette led the people through her house, including the dragon riders and the chief.

The first thought that crossed everyone's mind was "This must be Valhalla."

Marinette guided them through each room. The living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, guest room and some extra rooms.

With each room, the Vikings became more and more fascinated.

By the living room they saw the pastries that Marinette had served the day before. Since there is not enough for everyone, Marinette distributed the pastries to the children first and then to the rest of the visitors.

Even if the pastry was a day old, it was an incomparable taste for those who tasted it.

In the kitchen, the Vikings, including the dragon riders, who previously only saw the living room, were more than impressed. Especially because of the equipment and cleanliness of the kitchen.

When they got to the bathroom, their eyes almost popped out of their heads. It was very clean and had a large bathtub where there are currently four Changewings in it. While this is already strange to people, they found the odd porcelain chair next to the bathroom even stranger. When Marinette explained to them in carefully chosen words what the chair is for, people were partly intrigued and partly disgusted.

As for the bedroom, Marinette didn't let them in because her room is private. However, she did show the people the guest room. When people saw the comfortable looking bed there, people thought it must be some kind of cloud.

The last room she takes the people to was a room she uses for her hobby. As people entered the room, the men among the people were confused, but the women among them were more than thrilled with what they saw.

There were plenty of mannequins in the room wearing dresses. People initially thought that the mannequins were the corpses of the vanquished opponents defeated by Marinette. They were relieved when Marinette explained to them that it was just made of wood.

Astrid asks enthusiastically "What are those strange clothes?"

Marinette explains while walking to a dress, "These are dresses that I designed and made myself. They are all based on dragons that lived with me on the other island."

When she said it like that, the most of them started to notice that the clothes really remind them of dragons.

Astrid asks in awe, "Are these by any chance clothes worn by deceased warriors when they travel to Valhalla?"

Marinette says with a small smile, "No. What you see is just a hobby of mine." She took a dress reminiscent of a Deadly Nader and gave it to Astrid. "You can have this dress here. I think the size should fit.”

Astrid accepted the dress speechless. She has never seen such a beautiful and high-quality piece of clothing. In addition, it reminds her very much of her dragon Stormfly.

The other women in the room looked at her with envy.

Marinette would like to gift each of the women a dress, but she doesn't have the right number of dresses, nor is it the right size for most of the women.

———————————————————————

At the end of the tour, Marinette gathered the residents of Berk in front of her house and said, "Quick question, how did you find my house?"

The Vikings began to express themselves one by one.

"Unbelievable!"

"This is how I imagined Valhalla!"

"The light in the house is certainly the light of the sun!"

"The furniture was a true masterpiece!"

"The dresses were beautiful!"

"The pastries were out of this world!"

"The bathtub was like a small lake!"

These and other positive comments were made.

Marinette chuckles a little before saying, "I'm glad you like my house so much, because your chief and I have set out to improve your quality of life, starting with your houses."

The residents of Berk were taken back.

Marinette continues "However, we will need all your help to improve Berk and your standard of living. This will be of course hard work, and will take some time. If you have any objections, please tell me now.”

None of the people objected, on the contrary they were all more than excited that the Valkyrie plans to improve their quality of life.

Marinette claps her hands enthusiastically "Since nobody has anything against it, we will start planning immediately."

Everyone present started cheering. They were all willing to help in any way they can.

———————————————————————

Many weeks and months passed after Marinette and the residents of Berk made the decision to improve Berk.

They first drew up a blueprint of what the new houses will look like. Unlike Marinette's big house, the Viking houses were planned to be built as normal two story houses.

Thanks to Hiccup's suggestion that the dragon hunters should help with the construction, some of the dragon hunters are busy with the construction, while others regularly go to sea to get stones, wood, iron ore, cloth and some other things, from other islands.

Marinette, the Dragon Riders, the Vikings, the Dragons and the Dragon Hunters work every day to improve Berk.

Although Marinette could do many of the jobs quickly if she wanted to, she didn't want the residents of Berk to become dependent on her, so she worked alongside those without her skills.

The only times Marinette used her skills was when she was laying plumbing in houses.

As for the lightbulbs, Marinette designed lots of lightbulbs and windows with the help of Gobber and a few Gronkle’s. Since Gobber had some trouble working glass with a prosthetic, Marinette used her magic to regrow his arm and leg.

When some people saw Gobber's arm and leg grow back, they immediately asked Marinette if she could do the same for the others with prosthetics. As a result, Marinette spent an entire day regrowing the limbs of everyone including Hiccup. On the plus side, Gobber has made more than enough lightbulbs and window panes in the meantime.

After some time when they were finished with the houses, they started building the windmills so that the houses could be supplied with electricity and flour.

When the windmills were finished, they set them up in various places.

After the houses were finally built, Marinette started teaching everyone how to bake, cook and sew and she teaches them in basic hygiene. She even showed them how to extract spices like salt and sugar.

———————————————————————

After almost a year, all the houses were standing, including shops such as bakeries, restaurants, bars, inns, and a few other shops.

However, the buildings weren't the only thing that changed. They expanded the port and began building ships to Marinette's specifications that sail more stable and faster than any other ship built to date.

They left one of the ships to Johann as a kind of barter. Marinette explained it so that in exchange he can provide them with regular information about other islands. In addition, with Johann's help, Marinette plans to do future business with other islands.

Johann more than agreed, especially since the suggestion is both lucrative and comes from the Valkyrie, who saves him.

———————————————————————

Then came the day when the founding of the newly built island was celebrated.

All of Berk's residents have gathered in the towns square to officially inaugurate the founding of their newly built town.

Each and every one of them wore clothes that were completely different from what they had worn before.

The clothes were all designed and tailored by Marinette.

During a past conversation with the Dragon Riders, as they worked on the chiefs house, she told them that she always wanted to be a fashion designer but for some reason never got the chance.

The Dragon Riders thought that she never had the chance because she was busy protecting Valhalla.

The dragon riders then told the chief about it and decided to build a fashion studio especially for Marinette, where she can design and tailor her clothes.

When they then showed Marinette the fashion studio, she was overjoyed and thanked them.

The chief stood with his son and the Valkyrie in front of a newly built fountain. In the center of the fountain was a veiled statue whose appearance only the chief and the builders of the statue, Gobber, Mulch, and Bucket knew.

Stoick began delivering a speech “We are gathered here today to celebrate our newly built city. But before we start the celebration, I would like to say a few words.” He began to relate how they could never build the city like this if they didn't have the knowledge of a Valkyrie and how hard and tedious it was to build everything, but it that it was worth it in the end.

He looks at Marinette as he finishes saying, "To say our thanks, we have build this simple memorial to our dear savior.“

Marinette was taken aback. "Wait a minute, what?"

Stoick raised his hand, signaling Gobber, Mulch, and Bucket to unveil the statue.

All present stare in awe at the unveiled statue. Even Marinette had to admit that the statue is impressive.

The statue of Marinette was very impressive. It shows Marinette in a triumphant pose, holding her sword aloft as if she has won a battle.

Everyone but Marinette started cheering and applauding. Only Marinette looks at the statue flabbergasted. She never thought anyone would build a statue of her, especially an impressive one.

If she had been warned about the statue beforehand, she would have refused, but since the statue was built without her knowledge, she felt it would be rude not to say thank you.

After the statue was unveiled, everyone started to celebrate.

———————————————————————

After the town finally stood, they no longer needed the help of the dragon hunters, so their debt is partially paid off. So Marinette gave them their "souls" back and told them to go.

However, she has made it very clear to them that they should give up hunting dragons, otherwise she won't hold back the next time they meet.

While some of the hunters left the island, some of the hunters wanted to stay and asked if they could live in Berk.

While Stoick wasn't thrilled with the idea, he agreed to their request, but with the ultimatum that they behave themselves, otherwise he'll personally kick them off the island.

The former hunters more than agreed.

———————————————————————

After a few weeks and months of peace in their new city, the prosperity of the residents of Berk spread, which naturally attracted enemies.

There have been plenty of pirates, barbarians, vikings and other raiders who have tried to raid Berk, but to no avail.

Thanks to the cooperation with the dragons, the residents of Berk were able to put all enemies to flight.

One day, when all the enemy troops got together to attack Berk, Marinette wanted to send them a message and sank all their ships with a hurricane. When the enemies were then washed ashore, she used the same trick she used on the dragon hunters before. She has stolen all of their "souls" and threatened to take them to Helheim if they don't stop. This threat stopped the enemy attacks. Even the dragon hunt has largely stopped.

In addition, Berk has started trading with various islands.

Trading with the other islands made Berk even better known, making Berk a virtual tourist attraction over the years.

Many came there to see the Valkyrie or to live there.

The residents of Berk were initially afraid that the island was getting too small for everyone, but their fears were allayed when Marinette used her magic to enlarge the island. They then widened the city so that more people and dragons could live on it.

Over time, not only have the buildings and the appearance of the people changed, but also their behavior and the way they settle disputes. They started planning everything and doing more things with words than with violence.

Over the years, Berk's way of life has spread to other islands, causing the other humans not only to act more civilized, but to act like one.

Violence has halved while life expectancies have doubled.

Everyone was beyond grateful to the Valkyrie for sharing her knowledge with Berk and the rest of the world.

———————————————————————
Ten years later.

Marinette and Astrid sat at an outside table in a café and talked.

Astrid asked Marinette to meet her there to talk about something important.

Marinette says while sipping her coffee "It would be my pleasure to design your and Hiccup's wedding clothes."

Astrid replies with a big smile, "You don't know how much that means to us. As for the price…”

Marinette waves it of "Don't worry about the price. Consider the clothes my present for your wedding.”

Astrid knew that a discussion with Marinette was superfluous and thanks her with a big smile.

While Astrid takes a sip of her own drink, she had to look around. She has to think about how things have changed for the better thanks to Marinette.

Astrid says "Berk has become beautiful thanks to you. When I think back to what it was like ten years ago.”

Marinette replies with a gentle smile, "I'm sure you could have done it without me."

"Don't be kidding." says Astrid with a big smile. "The residents of Berk practically lived in the dirt before. Now we live in a city that resembles Valhalla. The people of Berk are forever grateful to you.”

Marinette jokes "Yeah, I still find little gifts on my doorstep every now and then."

Astrid says while looking at Marinette "There's a question I've wanted to ask for a long time." When Marinette nods, she asks "Do you miss your old life?"

Marinette shrugged "I can't miss anything I can't remember."

"True." says Astrid "But if you had the chance to go back to your old life, would you do it?"

Marinette puts her coffee down as she says, "That's hard to answer. For one, I only have vague memories of my past, while I have a lot of clear memories here." she rubs her chin "It would probably be different if I could remember my past as clearly as the memories I've collected here, but I think it's more peaceful here than having to fight a monster every day."

Astrid says with a giggle "I guess you're right." She looks down at her drink as she remembers "The few battles you've fought here must have been nothing compared to that."

Marinette leans back in her seat as she replies with a toothy smile, "If that makes you feel any better, I think the battles I've fought and will fight here are more valued than the battles from my past."

Astrid really couldn't imagine not acknowledging Marinette's old battles. "I think you're downgrading your old battles. I'm pretty sure your old battles were cheered by all of Valhalla."

Marinette shrugged it of "I guess we'll never really know as I've lost my memory and don't know how to get back to Valhalla." She takes in her surroundings with a fond smile as she adds "I'm not even sure if I even want that.”

Astrid decided not to ask any more questions as Marinette looks happy.

After they've finished drinking, Marinette says, "Let's get started then. We'll find Hiccup, then we'll start measuring both of you."

Astrid was more than happy to follow Marinette.

Walking through the city in a comfortable silence, all they could think about was how comfortable everything is now.

Marinette cannot remember her past, nor does she know what the future holds. All she knows is that she has no regrets waking up in this world.

Notes:

That’s actually the last chapter of this story, but I will write one bonus chapter soon, that shows what happened in Paris, while Marinette adjusted to her new life.

Chapter 6: Bonus

Summary:

Like I promised, here is the bonus chapter that shows the people from Paris.

Chapter Text

After Hawkmoth's defeat, Paris started to quiet down. Especially since the residents don't have to be afraid of an Akuma walking loose.

But it wasn’t everywhere quiet.

The students of the Francois Dupont school were all in a trance. Some of them are angry while others are sad.

Although they should be happy that Hawkmoth was finally stopped, they just couldn't enjoy it. Especially since Hawkmoth turned out to be Adrien's father. Then it came out that Lila worked with him and lied to everyone, which not only disappointed and hurt them, but also almost destroyed the future plans of some like Alya, Nino, Max and others. But more importantly, when she was arrested, Lila killed Marinette, who warned everyone from the start. They couldn’t even apologize to Marinette for their past behavior.

Even students from other classes like Kagami, Luka, Marc Aurore and Mireille have been hit hard. Even Nadja Chamack, who had to read the news where Marinette was killed, needed to fight with her tears.

Because of Lila's arrest and Marinette’s death, the school commission got involved and thoroughly investigated the Francois Dupont school. What they found was outrageous. They examined all of the video evidence and found that both Principal Damocles and the teacher Bustier, were filthy.

Not only did they both favor Lila and unfairly treat Marinette, but they found out that Damocles was embezzling funds and that Bustier planted all of her work on Marinette, claiming that it was class representative documents. Not to mention her enabling behavior towards bullies.

As a result, both Bustier and Damocles were fired. Bustier lost her teaching license and was blacklisted, making it impossible for her to even get a job. Damocles, on the other hand, was arrested for embezzling money and the court case is still pending.

Since Damocles is gone, Mlle. Mendeleiev was appointed principal of the school. The first thing she did was hang up a plaque in Marinette's honor.

Without Marinette, the students weren't themselves anymore. Some, like Adrien, have been hit hard as he feels guilty that things would have been different if he hadn't given Marinette that stupid advice about the high road.

Then there's the fact that many people blame Adrien for the fact that his father was Hawkmoth, and if that's not bad enough, his ring suddenly disappeared one day. Even if he said that he was Chat Noir, no one would believe him without proof.

During the trial of Gabriel Agreste, he managed to keep it a secret what his main goal was with the miraculous, but that doesn't help him much.

However, Gabriel managed to keep both his son and Nathalie out of the court case by assuring the court that they knew nothing and that he did everything behind their backs.

If the death penalty still existed in Paris, Gabriel would certainly have received it, but instead he was sentenced to the highest penalty available and to a maximum security prison.

Adrien was taken in by his aunt after the verdict and lives with her and her son in England, while Nathalie has temporarily transported the comatose Emilie and herself to a secret location.

As for Marinette's parents, they couldn't bear to live in the city that took their daughter and decided to move to Shanghai. But before that, they were visited by Su Han, who revealed that their daughter was Ladybug, who protected the city on a daily basis. He also told them that Marinette is not really dead but that her soul was sent to another world.

He didn't really want to tell them everything, but the kwamis, especially Tikki and Plagg, practically forced him into saying that Marinette's parents have a right to know what happened to their daughter.

Though proud and impressed that their daughter was a heroine, Tom and Sabine couldn't bear the thought of never seeing Marinette again.

However, they were able to get comfort with the knowledge that their daughter lives on elsewhere, even if she doesn't remember her parents.

———————————————————————

As for Lila, she got it the worst after Gabriel Agreste.

Not only did she so willingly help a terrorist, but she killed someone in front of many witnesses.

Her lawyer had even told her that if she hadn't shot the girl, she could tell people that she was coerced to help a terrorist, but since so many witnessed what she did, they didn't have much leeway.

In the end, a lot of dirty things came out about Lila. How she stirred up trouble in her past schools. How a student was beaten up by his classmates because of her and ended up in a wheelchair forever. How two students were expelled from school because of her. How she sexuelle harassed boys and girls. How a student was arrested as she told everyone that he was harassing her. How because of her a students committed suicide. These and other incidents were brought before the court.

Then came the lies she told in Paris. About the celebrities and the lies about Ladybug and Marinette.

Her former classmates have all given testimony and presented evidence. Alya was the one who presented the most evidence. Alya needed to delete afterwards her blog and pay a fine in the end, because she posted the most lies, but that was ok for Alya, as long as the killer from Marinette get arrested.

Then came the lie that her mother wasn't a diplomat, but just the secretary. Even if it weren't a lie, diplomatic immunity doesn't protect her from collaborating with a terrorist and killing a human being.

She was held in a juvenile detention center until the age of eighteen before being transferred to a maximum security prison.

However, it didn't end there for her. When the other inmates at the juvenile detention center found out why she was arrested, they beat her every day and harassed her in all other ways.

Each inmate had a loved one who was either akumatized or endangered by an akuma.

The false promises and lies didn't help Lila any further. She promised the other inmates the blue of the sky, but those lies didn't help her. She has often had her hair pulled or tripped while serving food, had her food stolen, or beaten until she lost consciousness. Even when she once had some teeth knocked out of her mouth and was taken to the prison doctor, he didn't treat her because he didn't believe her even though her teeth were knocked out.

Even when Lila went to the guards to report the other inmates, the guards ignored her even though she was telling the truth.

None of the guards have ever helped her, even when Lila was bullied or beaten up in front of them. The guards were angry with Lila themselves. Many of them also have loved ones who have been akumatized or were in danger because of an akuma. On top of that, some wardens have children the same age of Marinette or the other children whose lives were ruined because of Lila, so they didn't do anything when Lila was bullied or beaten.

Lila doesn't get any rest from the other inmates even during bedtime, as they always tie her arms and legs together at night and make her sleep on the floor with no blanket or pillow.

All the time she was in juvenile detention she could only dream of being akumatized and getting revenge on everyone.
