Feelings Unsaid and Unspoken

Summary:

Escapril 2023 day 25: Motel

After a quick job at a haunted motel, Lucy falls asleep in the back of a cab with the boys.

Notes:

This is my first fanfic in this fandom and I just finished the tv series yesterday and am absolutely obsessed. I really want to read the books but I can’t right now ToT

Anyway, Lockwood and Lucy are the definition of slow burn and it’s almost (it is) physically painful but here this is anyway. Enjoy, and I hope you actually do because I plan to write more Lockwood & Co. stories. ;)

Work Text:

They have a new job

A small one but still

Came from an old snob

Who said he needed their skills

He’d offered good pay

And so they’d gone

Reached there midday

Planning to get back by dawn

They’d set up in one room

Beside the one that was haunted

Holding out hope this wouldn’t be their doom

When Lucy heard a voice, distorted

Iron chains in a circle

Salt bombs in their belt

Rapiers in hand

As the cold air was all they felt

Quick work they made of it

But not before being thrown around some

By the end, they’d need to restock their kit

And George had a cut on his thumb

Not wanting to stay there

In the dingy motel much longer

They left and got some fresh air

Their friendship much stronger

As it was after each job

Their camaraderie all the closer

They hailed a cab

And all sat in the back

Sighing and half asleep

Relaxing after the ghost attack

Lucy had fallen asleep

On Lockwood’s shoulder

And there he left her in her sleep deep

Telling George to hold her

When they reached the house

So they could carry her in

Being quiet as a mouse

Him holding her soft skin

Gently

He placed her in her bed

Her peaceful face bringing a smile to his own

His feelings toward her left unsaid

The feelings in his heart of stone

He sighed and glanced towards her once more

Before he turned and left towards the door

If only he’d have stayed for just a second

He’d have seen Lucy’s eyes open

As her heart beckoned

Also full of feelings, left unspoken
