Suitmates

Summary:

When Alina makes an offhanded joke at Marinette’s expense, she responds by making the excuse that she thinks Felix looks good in a suit… which only sparked further shenanigans.

Chapter 1: Afternoon Nonsense

Chapter Text

Marinette couldn’t help but gaze adoringly as Felix kept writing in his notebook. Their lycée let the students out early today due to an akuma attack, and after a quick round of Ladybugging as per usual, Marinette and her friends were all hanging out together in the park.

Felix would occasionally look at his open text book, then scrawl something down in his notes with different colored pens. Even when an akuma gives them an opportunity for a break, he still tries his best to be at least a tiny bit studious.

Marinette’s sips on her lemonade grew slower and slower as she watched Felix work from under the shade of a tree, Alina sitting beside her and typing something on her phone before turning it off and giving Marinette a side eye… then she smirked.

“Why are you so thirsty?”

“What?!” Marinette squeaked, nearly choking on her straw and spitting out her drink at Alina’s tease, going so red in the face she may as well be sunburnt.

“I would’ve assumed you were fine with just that lemonade we got earlier, but with the way you’re staring at Felix, I stand corrected: you’re hella thirsty for him.” Alina said, shrugging then glancing over at Flora, who was drawing a few landscape shots of the park at the picnic table with Felix.

“I-it’s not that! I-I just…uh—!!” It came out louder than Marinette would’ve liked to admit, catching the attention of Flora… aaand Felix too. Oh great. “The… um… suit! I like how he looks in a.. suit…”

Alina snorted, Flora got a look in her eye that seemed to be an epiphany, Felix only stared at her as if shocked… and Marinette was ready to crawl into a hole and die.

“The suit.” Alina repeated, causing Marinette to squeak again and her to snicker. “I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m not judging! I do see your point!”

Even Felix seemed shocked as Alina winked at him, grinning in a way that let him know it was a joke, but still — it flustered him a bit. “Really?”

“Uh…” Marinette swallowed, words escaping her. Damn it, Sphinx! Stop being so cute and ruining her focus! “Yeah… yeah, you look good in it.”

The longer he stared at her, the more she wanted to shrivel into a puddle of embarrassment, the light in his eyes only making him even cuter in the springtime sun.

“Thank you...” He smiled, the kind but basic gesture of human decency causing an already internally dying Marinette to further melt into goo. He could do anything, say anything, and she’d fall harder.

“Since we got let out before the teachers could assign anything,” Flora piped up, closing her sketchbook. “You guys want to hang out sometime this weekend?”

Alina smiled and got up to join her girlfriend, glancing at Marinette as she too stood up, albeit still squeamish and flustered.

“I’m up for it! Sounds fun.” Alina said, looking over at Felix for a moment and raising an eyebrow. “You in, Fe?”

Felix closed his notebook, his gaze lingering on Marinette and a smile as soft as the clouds above them before turning to face Alina again. Stop it, stop it, stop it Felix! Stop being so damn cute!!

He nodded and Alina sat a pencil down on the table.

They all leaned closer as if their center of gravity had shifted to the still spinning pencil, its mechanical point slowing, then stopping… pointing right at Marinette.

Oh. No.

“Well, looks like we’ll be hanging at your place, Mari!”

Oh. No.

Marinette gulped, her face red and burning. This was a giant pile of suck…

Felix was going to be at her house tomorrow, hanging out, with her friends… In. Her. House.

To say she screamed in her pillow when she got home was an understatement.
