Work Text:
Luz looks around the room she has known the last few years, the home that had practically become home. The place she came back from classes to, studied at, came back at night to crash and sleep.
She had many memories here. Her and Amity’s late study nights, Luz laying backward off the side of the bed, Amity legs tangled together with hers, popping a piece of candy into her mouth every time she got a question right, laughing. All the times her friends had gathered here. All the long night talks and conversations about the future. The night of her twenty-first birthday when she spent the whole night on the bathroom floor, hung over, and Amity stayed with her until the sun came up.
It had become so familiar to her at this point. It had been a barren room with plain walls and floors but she had made it her own. Her array of Azura posters and wall decor, her bi flag, her bedspread and messy desk and dresser, the bugling closet, her cork board all her favorite photos of her and her friends hung up with pride. Even Amity’s goggles on the bedpost that Luz nagged her about putting away everyday.
The dorm had slowly become Amity’s in the last four years too. Amity had nearly squealed in excitement when they learned they would be in dorm rooms right next to each other, laughing and joking about how fun it would be. One week in, Amity spent the night to help Luz study for one of her many classes.
And, somehow, that one night turned into a month of Amity spending the night, ‘accidentally’ falling asleep with her arm slung around Luz. When Eda caught word of it from her friends’ teasing, she had complained of them ‘wasting the university’s space.’ She told Luz that Amity might as well be her roommate. Many others in the dorms had roommates, but Luz and Amity had been spared due to the fact they had helped save the literal world, and not because of their closer relation to Eda. (Eda still swore she didn’t have favorites.)
Luz didn’t think the headmaster was serious at first. That was until the day Amity showed up at her door with a box in her hands, grinning tentatively. I’m moving in!
And Luz hadn’t minded. It was great seeing her girlfriend more — she was constantly coming and going for classes and then gone for days at a time for a job at the museum, which required her to travel to more remote places in the Isles. She loved seeing her girlfriend first thing in the morning, sleeping next to her at night.
That was the other silly thing. The dorms had only provided single beds. They had attempted to sleep on Luz’s twin, which ended up in Amity red-faced and falling on the floor and Luz smothering her own laughter at her girlfriend’s misery. They had opted to push two singles together to still be next to each other.
And when Eda heard of that, she had come down the dorm herself and told her once again of the ‘resources she was wasting.’ She left with the beds, and Amity and Luz were left with a huge gap in their room, standing there and staring at each other.
That weekend, they had made a day of it to go out and buy a queen-sized mattress together. And, that night, with her arm around her girlfriend’s waist, Luz swore she had never slept better.
She had also learned the sides of her girlfriend that she didn’t know. Living with someone did that to you, she supposed. Again, she loved her girlfriend dearly, and that would never change.
But she didn’t exactly love the snoring. Damn, the girl must have had some breathing issues. Luz had grown used to it over the past few years, but at first it was heard to sleep when it sounded like a palistrom tree was being sewed in half next to her. On the worst night, she simply whacked Amity with the pillow until she shut up and rolled away, Luz momentarily mourning the loss of the warmth and touch of her lover.
And she hadn’t known how outright messy her girlfriend was. She left everything out, in a rush. Her clothes littered the floor. Her makeup and hair products covered the bathroom counter. Luz was tired of the bathroom smelling like box dye when Amity camped out in the bathroom and completed her monthly ritual of redying her roots. She was also tired of stepping in literal abomination goo in the most random places on the floor.
She supposed that was what she got for dating an abomination witch, who was taking after her father in her abomination engineering class.
And so, the last few years had been chaotic with keeping up with all her work and classes, and then her friends and family, but it was good. It was good to be back, here to stay. She loved to be with her friends, the people she loved to be around most, and watch everyone learn and grow the last four years.
They had all grown: academically, in their careers and relationships, in their magic, and as people. This place had been a great experience. She couldn’t thank her old mentor enough for getting this idea and running with it.
She remembered when she first heard of it. It was a lazy weekend back at the house. She was back in human school, but had the weekends to visit the Isles. Eda had explained it to her — a school where every type of magic was taught and embraced, where they studied wild magic. A school to teach the next generation, abolishing the old ways of Belos, and allowing witches who grew up with the Coven system to rediscover their own potential.
She remembered thinking she would absolutely want to attend a school like that. And she had.
Four years ago, she had stepped into the empty dorm room, a scatter of boxes around her and the feeling of change in the air. And, here she was, four years later, standing in the same room, surrounded by boxes, taking down every poster and everything that resembled her presence in this room.
She could feel the shift in the air, the feeling of change.
It was a good change, but her heart still felt heavy. She watched from across the room as Amity now, finally, picked up her silly purple goggles. With a sigh, she placed them in the box labeled Amity. They had to keep their stuff separate when they were packing up.
She paused at her desk — her and Amity’s now. Her girlfriend’s blueprints of her abominations projects now littered it. Her eyes racked down her arrangement of photos. She had added many new ones within the years. Many group photos with her friends, of her date nights and anniversaries with Amity.
Her favorite was the one from last year when Amity surprised her with a trip to one of the islands outside of the mainland of the Isles. In the photo, they were on the beach. Luz was laughing, and Amity, cheeks pink and sunburned, was pressing a kiss to her cheek.
Luz smiled and ran her hand over the edge of the texture of the photo. Satisfied, she hung it back up.
Her eyes felt next to the calendar she and Amity now shared. The twenty-first of June had been circled with GRADUATION!! ^_^ written in her own handwriting.
They were all preparing to move out in the next week, settle in, then return to the school the next week for the final graduation ceremony. (Luz and King still had running bet if Eda would cry or not.)
It was all surreal. She felt like she had just walked into this room for the first time, but four years had passed. Four amazing years had passed of learning, growing, maturing, and learning to embrace change and magic and moving on. Four years of friendship, love, and laughter.
She wouldn’t change a thing.
Then she felt a pair of strong arms wrap around her and was being hugged from behind by her girlfriend. “You almost done?”
She was referring to the packing. She tore her gaze away from the calendar and looked around. Most of the wall was now empty, and her side of the dresser had been emptied, clothes folded into piles into boxes with her name on it.
Her lip folded up in a tentative smile. “Halfway there?”
Amity huffed and looked around too, hands on her hips. Luz looked at her girlfriend’s own stack of boxes. It appeared she was about halfway packed up too.
Luz was lost in thought when Amity shifted again. “I’m tired of packing,” she announced, tongue sticking out in annoyance. “Do you want takeout?”
As if in unison, Luz’s stomach grumbled. She had gotten carried away and forgotten it was technically dinner time. Skipping meals had become a bad habit for many college students. Her mother lectured her about it every time she went home on the weekends, and Eda asked what she ate every time she went to the weekly lecture in her class for curses.
She fell into her girlfriend, groaning. “Oh my Titan, yes.”
Amity raised her eyebrows. “Chopping Axe?”
Luz nodded eagerly. The Chopping Axe was a restaurant downtown they had practically lived off the last few years, especially during finals and exams. They had many simple things she could actually digest. It was either that or her mom’s home cooked meals and leftovers she insisted she sent home with Luz every visit. (Luz didn’t have the heart to tell her that half of it was tossed because they didn’t have enough space to cram it in their small mini fridge.)
Brought back to the present, Amity squeezed her. “I’ll go pick it up, okay? You finish up here.”
With one last kiss pressed to her cheek, a jingle of the room key, her girlfriend was out the door. Another quiet sigh escaped her parted lips and she was left alone in the room.
She put down the packing tape, resting it on a nearby stack of boxes. She finds herself sitting in the middle of the bed, which has been stripped of its sheets. They only have an old, heavy knitted blanket at the end of the bed that Hunter gifted them when he was in the midst of his knitting phase, one he soon gave up on.
She found herself looking around yet again. It was funny. Throughout the years, she had thought this very room was so small, constantly running into things and practically tripping over air. Now, almost bare, seemingly devoid of the things that made this room hers, it seemed so big. Waiting. Waiting to be filled again for a new student with a whole new journey ahead of them.
Luz tilted her head, thinking. She had always wondered who would get this room next. Would they notice the paint-chipped spot on the wall from when her and Amity rearranged the furniture randomly at 3AM? Would they notice the dye stain on the bathroom floor from when Hunter had attempted to help dye Amity’s hair? The stains on the table? The grooves of the floor or the corner in the closet where she had sat cross-legged and carved L + A into the wall with Eda’s old pocket knife? Would they have their friends over and have game nights, playing into the early morning hours? Would the walls soak up all the laughter and the pillow all the tears?
Luz sat there, head in her hands, and wished a lifetime of happy memories for a person she didn’t even know, a mere stranger. A person only connected to her through the four walls of this room.
She wished that this place would be as good to them as it was to her.
By the time the door creaked open, and her girlfriend was back, holding up a white paper bag, Luz was still stuck in her own head, sitting in bed. They ate out of the boxes. They sat on the floor, leaning against the bed frame. (The small set of table and chairs had been one of the first things to be packed up.)
As they ate, Amity wiped her mouth with her napkin. “So, I gotta work on getting my last few boxes done. I gotta get them back to my dad’s before graduation.” She snorted. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Eda charged a late fee for not being moved out in time.” Her gaze flickered to Luz. “How about you?”
Luz picked at her noodles with her fork. There was still that feeling in her chest that she couldn’t put a name to. “I have to get everything back to my mom’s. Or most of it, at least. Eda said she didn’t mind if I stored some of it in my old room back at her place.”
Amity nodded, slurping up her own noodles. Luz put down her own box, not hungry any more. “I think I’ll ask King for some help. He’s getting big, and he’s always eager to prove his strength.” She wrinkled her nose, starting to laugh. “I don’t think he’ll mind shoving a few boxes through the portal.”
Amity hummed in reply. She was busy picking at her food. Luz looked down, fingertip tapping against the floorboard. There was a moment of silence. “You have any summer plans?” Amity asked next.
Luz shrugged. She knew she was going to crash with her mom and Vee at least for the summer. Eda and Raine always let her know she could stay with them. She knew she wanted to spend some time back here with her friends. Her and Amity had even discussed a few vacation plans, or Luz going with her on one of her work expeditions. Nothing was set in stone yet though.
Soon enough, Luz would have to get serious about looking for her own place. (Of course, she had thought of the possibility of moving in with Amity. She was still nervous to ask. The idea of it made her tongue-tied as Amity had never brought it up herself.)
“You?”
“I could always help my dad down at the hospital lab,” she said thoughtfully, stabbing a noodle with her fork.
Luz laughed. “I thought the point of summer was to not be learning or in school.”
Amity gave her a playful look and threw a limp noodle at her. Luz easily dodged it and laughed again. “What? Is it for a good cause?”
“I know.” Luz rubbed at her arm, suddenly serious. “Is this something you think you would want to pursue?”
Amity paused at the question, seemingly thinking. A moment later, she shrugged. “I don’t know what I want just yet.” She paused. “But I do know something.”
Luz looked at her, eyes sparking. “What?”
Amity flashed her a genuine smile, white teeth shining like pearls in the night. Dusk was falling outside, but they were in their own small world. Luz just wished she could pause time.
“I know that wherever I go, whatever I do, whoever I get to be,” Amity continued, bumping her shoulder with hers. “I want to do it with you.”
Luz dropped her fork on her napkin and looked back over at her girlfriend. Her lips parted in a smile. “Me too.”
Her girlfriend smiled back and pulled her in, pressing a longing kiss to her lips. Luz melted into it. A fierce feeling crossed her chest, deep in her heart. Love.
It sometimes scared her how much she had grown to love this girl, how she couldn’t picture her future without her. But then she remembered there was nothing to fear about this love. This perfect love.
With they pulled away, Luz was snickering slightly, amused. Amity eyed. “What?”
Luz shook her head. (Affectionately.) “Your breath stinks.”
Amity wrinkled her nose, head partly buried in the shadow of Luz’s shoulder, in her university sweatshirt that probably needed to be washed. “You don’t exactly smell like roses yourself.”
Then they were both laughing again and Amity was wrapping her arms around her neck and kissing her, lips drawn together, long and deep. Meaningful. They both leaned back onto the bed.
Later that night, as the sky became fully dark, Luz laid in bed, staring up at the ceiling. She listened to the sounds of Amity that came from the bathroom as she brushed her teeth and performed her rather long and vicarious skincare routine.
When she came out, she was dressed in her baggy sleep clothes and her hair was up, revealing her natural brown undercut. “Hey,” she whispered as she saw her girlfriend staring. “Enjoying the view?”
“Hi,” Luz mumbled back. “And, yes, I was. Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?”
She snorted. “Yes. You have. Everyday.” She crawled into bed, a few inches away from Luz. “Not that I mind..”
When Luz didn’t reply, she turned her head, looking over. “Hey. Human Realm to Luz?”
Luz hummed in reply.
Amity rolled over. She poked a sharp-nailed finger into Luz’s forehead, concerned. “Are you okay? You seem.. distant.”
“Just thinking.”
Amity raised her eyebrows. “About?”
“Everything,” Luz sighed. “All the stuff we have to do. Moving out, graduating. All our summer plans we have to figure out.”
Amity frowned. “We still have some time to figure it out.”
“But not a lot.”
Amity’s hand slipped under the covers and found a way to Luz’s. She cupped it in her own, squeezing it. It was their way of comforting one another. Hey. I’m here. It’s okay.
“It’s a lot,” Luz confessed. “It feels like I’m being forced to finish growing up these next few weeks. Like they’re telling us to pack our bags and opening the door and telling us to get out.”
“I think we were forced to grow up long before this,” Amity said in a soft voice. “And I was joking about Eda charging us a late fee.”
Luz swallowed. “I know.”
There was silence for a moment. Luz listened to Amity’s soft breathing, the rustle of the blanket. “It’ll be okay,” she repeated.
Luz sniffed, feeling a little stupid. “You’d think I’d be used to change by now but.. wow. It still hits you so hard.”
“It’s easy to fall back into old routines,” Amity agreed. “We have been here for four whole years of our life. It will be hard to say goodbye.”
“It’s not just that.”
Amity rolled over to face her, face to her. Her eyes were narrowed, nose pinched. She looked so concerned. “What is it then?”
Luz purses her lips.
“You can talk to me, Luz. You know that.”
“It’s not just that,” Luz echoed, repeating her words. “This place has felt like a.. promise, in a way. A security blanket. It was a guarantee that would all be the same place at the same time, seeing each other every day. But now that it’s over, and we won’t have this anymore, I’m afraid that..”
“We’ll grow apart?” Amity finished.
Luz nodded. “It’s like the rug is being ripped out from under us. Like it’s back to reality. We all have to move on and start our own lives. What if it becomes a chore to see each other? Or we’re too busy? What if—“
“Luz,” Amity stopped her. “Yes, we might have college anymore, but we still have each other. I promise you we will all see each other.” She laughed. “You will see us so much you’ll be sick of us.” She paused, eyes softening. “Our friends love you.. I love you. They won’t leave you.”
“I know,” Luz replied. She felt Amity running her hand over her cheek comfortingly. “I still worry.
“You wish you could have a backup security blanket?” Amity asked. Her thumb stroked her cheek.
“Maybe.”
“Maybe we could do that then,” Amity said thoughtfully. “Something to signify how much I love you. How I won’t ever leave you. How I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
“Um, wow. I mean, yeah. That’s a lot—“
“How about a ring?”
Luz furrowed her eyebrows. “Like a promise ring?”
“No, not exactly.” She felt Amity’s hand drift away, pulling apart. She sat up on her elbows, suddenly serious. “Luz.. have you ever thought about marriage..? Well, marrying me, just to be clear.”
Luz sat up so fast she nearly whacked her head on the back of the bed. Amity winced. She sat there for a good moment, mouth open like a fish, blinking. She might have been turning a red that rivaled even Amity’s blush.
Amity began to spiral. “Okay, we don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to, of course—“
“Amity,” Luz cut her off. “Are you serious?”
Amity paused, body stiff as a board, then preceded to nod. “Yes.”
A moment later, Luz snapped her mouth shut. She squeaked, feeling like a small mouse. “Okay.”
“What?”
“I said okay.”
“Is that a.. yes?” Amity turned red too. “Holy, Titan, did I just propose to you?”
Luz raised one eyebrow. “Did you?”
“ Maybe?!”
“Oh.”
“And did you just say yes?”
She squinted. “Maybe..?”
“That was more of a yes than a no!” Amity exclaimed. “You said okay!”
Luz sat up, mattress creaking under the sudden weight shift. “Amity,” she breathed. After the initial shock, she wanted to make sure her girlfriend was for real. “Are you serious?”
“..yes.”
Luz drew in another breath, mind going blank. Her heart and mind seemed to be singing in sync. Oh my Titan, whatthef—
Amity shifted, bringing her knees to her chest. She seemed to be having an internal panic attack. “You don’t have to answer, if you don’t want to. I know it’s soon, and I was joking at first..” she looked up, meeting Luz’s wide, questioning eyes. The eyes she had come to love. “But now… Luz, I love you. I do want to spend the rest of my life with you.. I..”
Luz put her hand over Amity, just had she had done to Luz mere moments before. She tried to soothe her fast-tracked brain. “Amity, I love you too. You know that, right?”
Amity dipped her head.
“Good.. what were you saying? What do we do now?”
“Um..” The red on her face was fading. She scratched the back of her neck. “We could wait. You know some couples are engaged a year before they get married. We could spend the summer together.. and I’ve been meaning to ask you..”
It was Luz’s turn to raise her eyebrows. “Ask me what?”
“About moving in with me,” Amity mumbled. “Officially. Our own place with our names on it.”
“Amity!” Luz practically squealed, scaring her girlfriend. “I’ve been wanting to ask you too. Of course I’ll move in with you!”
Amity smiled at her, face showing in almost disbelief. “Really?”
Luz nodded. “Really.” She pulled away, suddenly more serious. “On one condition.”
“Which is..?”
Luz smiled before leaning in and pecking Amity right on the lips, maintaining eye contact. “We will both have the same last name.”
Amity let out a wet sounding laugh, along with a sigh of happiness and relief. She eyed Luz, her turn to ask questions. “You’re sure? You’re serious?”
Luz nodded, as firm as could be. She had never meant anything more. Then she was laughing and leaning forward once more, tackling her girlfriend ( fiancée?) into a hug. They both nearly fell over and back onto the bed, laughing.
“You’re serious?” Amity whispered again, muffled by the fabric of Luz’s sweatshirt that she had stolen several times.
“As serious as serious can be,” Luz grinned so wide it hurt her cheeks. She pulled back, arms wide with excitement. “I wanna marry you, Amity Blight!” she said, nearly yelling. She winced at the volume, pausing. “I wanna marry you,” she repeated.
Another kiss pressed to her lips. When she pulled back, Amity was looking at her like she held all the stars in her hands, with all the love in the world. Luz simply wanted to melt away. “I marry you too, Luz Noceda.”
“Well, I guess it’s a tie then,” Luz said, using her hands to cup Amity’s face. “I guess we have to get married.”
“Bummer,” Amity replied. “It’s not like I wanted to marry anyone else.”
They both smiled at each other, the room fell into a comfortable silence. They both sat there, smiling back at each other. Amity’s thumb ran over Luz’s knuckles, caressing it.
When Luz turned to look at the clock, she let out a soft gasp.
She perked up. “What is it?”
“It’s almost one am!”
“I have history tomorrow!”
Luz widened her eyes. “Let’s.. leyd go to sleep. We will talk more in the morning, okay?”
Amity started to nod, then groaned. “I can’t believe I just did that.”
“What?”
“I just proposed to you,” she put her head in her hands. “In the most unromantic way in the world. We were sitting in bed, and I looked terrible.”
Luz shook her head and pulled Amity down to lay beside her. “Amity Blight,” she said. “Don’t worry about it. I think it was very romantic and that you looked beautiful.” She shook her head again, running one hand up the slope of Amity’s cheek. “I don’t care for all the romantic acts and all the other fancy things. I just want you.”
Amity let out a choked laugh. She let herself be pulled closer and tucked into Luz’s arms. Her breath tickled Luz’s nose. She laughed and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “Why don’t you say we go to sleep now?”
She felt Amity nod, pressing herself against her. They fell asleep in each other's arms that night, fitting together like two puzzle pieces.
The next day was a blur. Luz woke up to her alarm. The warmth next to her was gone. Amity had gotten up for her class already.
She got up and got ready in a blur of motion. In class, her mind couldn’t stop buzzing. I’m engaged to Amity Blight?! I’m engaged to Amity Blight!
She felt high off that thought, like she was floating. She was going to marry her loving, beautiful, amazing girlfriend, the girl she loved.
She wished it would go by faster. In class, she couldn’t pay attention. Her thoughts raced. Her leg bounced under the table. Her eyes always found the clock.
When she was introduced to a witch that was shadowing someone for next year, she nearly introduced herself as hi! I’m engaged to Amity Blight!
By the time she got back to her dorm for lunch, she was mentally exhausted. She felt like bouncing off the walls, but the desperation to see her fiancée was driving her crazy. She just wanted to tear apart the whole campus until she found her and could wrap her arms around her again, smelling in the scent of her weirdly good-smelling shampoo.
She sat down at her desk and creaky chair, spinning. She was having a lousy lunch of a peanut sandwich as she looked over her notes from BI History. A flash of light purple caught her eye.
She looked up. It was a purple sticky note, she realized. It was pinned to her board with a bit of abomination goo.
Luz,
meet me at our spot. see you!! :)
— you know who <33
Luz felt her heart rate pick up again. She got up from her chair in a flash, nearly falling over once or twice. Then she ran and left the apartment as fast as she ever had, door slamming shut.
They had had many spots over the years — the hidden library room, a certain table at Hexside, the bookstore, even their Grom tree. But this spot was a spot on campus. It was a small stone bench under a weeping willow with pink blossoms that bloomed and fell in the late summer. It was tucked between buildings, connected by a small dirt path. It was hidden, their own secret place. Finding it had been an accident, really. But now they loved it.
As Luz stumbled down the familiar beaten-down path, the soles of her Converse scraped up against the ground. She caught sight of her girlfriend and— whoa. She nearly stopped at the sight of her.
She had grown used to Amity’s usual daywear — baggy, lab clothes and purple, abomination stained fabrics. She had expected it.
Now, her lavender colored hair was pulled down, her bangs pulled up by the familiar pink barrette. She was wearing a light purple dress, clashing with her hair. It had cuffed sleeves and fell about mid knee, hugging her body shape just right. Her Flapjack tattoo, the tattoo they had all gotten together, shown on her upper forearm.
“Hey,” she said. She brushed a piece of hair behind her pointed ear. “Taking in the view?”
“I.. you..” Luz stuttered for words. Titan, usually Amity was the blushy one. “You look beautiful, Ames.”
Amity wrinkled her nose and came forward. She took Luz’s hands in her own, staring to grin. Luz looked down at their touching hands and then back up, still a bit confused.
She raised one eyebrow. “What’s happening?” She asked. “Why are you so dressed up?”
“I’m not allowed to dress up to see my girlfriend?” Amity shot back, face flat.
Luz widened her eyes. “I didn’t mean—“
Amity laughed. “I know. I just wanted to see you.” Her gaze went to the side, eyes rolling back. “And do this.”
She took a step back. Luz looked at her expectedly. “What?”
And Amity was bending down and getting on her knees, right on the ground. On one knee, Luz realized.
Her heart soared again.
Amity reached into her pocket, pulling out a small, black velvet box. Luz already had a guess as to what was inside. She cupped her hands to her mouth, tears already springing to the edges of her eyes. “We’re really doing this?”
Amity nodded, meeting her study gaze. “Well, here goes nothing.” She took a deep breath. “Luz Noceda, will you marry me?”
“Um.. yes?!” Luz said. “Oh my Titan, yes. Yes!”
They were both beaming. Luz pulled Amity up off the ground and wrapped her arms around Amity’s neck and kissed her right then and there. “I love you so much,” she whispered into her ear.
Amity squeezed her back. “I don’t ask just anybody to marry me,” she whispered back. “I love you too.”
Then they were pulling away and Luz was holding her breath and looking down as Amity fumbled with the ring box. It opened, and she let out a small breath.
It was a simple golden band, nothing too fancy. But it was enough for Luz.
“We can get something embodied on it later,” Amity explained. “Right now it’s just there to announce it.” She tensed her shoulders. “To make it official.”
Then she let Amity take her hand and slip it onto her ring finger. It felt cool and light. She closed her eyes. It felt right.
Then she was tackling her fiancée ( fiancée!!) into another hug, arms around her shoulders, legs swinging. “Oh my Titan!”
“We’re getting married!”
Luz nodded limply. “We’re getting married.”
There was a pause for a moment as the young couple just stood there, embracing one another. Then, Luz began to laugh into Amity’s chest.
Amity pulled away, amber eyes narrowed in confusion, and a bit in concern. “What’s so funny?”
“I just realized..” Luz started, wiping away another happy tear. “I left the keys to the dorm in the room.”
Amity shook her head and kissed her again.
And, to Luz, it was enough. It was enough.
