Chapter Text
Lupin's love language is the easiest of the groups to figure out and to indulge, at least for some of the gang. Physical touch.
-Jigen-
Jigen found out pretty quickly after joining Lupin that serious words of affection are hard for the thief, it took a few years though before he found out that the reason for that was the cold heart of Lupin the first. He hates that Lupin struggles in this way but he is glad that Lupin's body makes up for his closed mouth. It started slow, after all Jigen doesn't communicate well either and was admittedly a bit touch starved so if Lupin had started with kisses Jigen may have shot him.
Lupin starts by always brushing their fingers together when he hands Jigen cigarettes. That gives way to one armed hugs and shoulder pats. Jigen moves them onto two armed hugs when he gains the confidence to do so. Years go by and they grow closer, hugs become longer and border on cuddling and then it happens. Jigen gets hurt, badly and he can't sleep on the couch in the hideout they're in. Lupin tucked him in that night and when Jigen thought he would leave for the couch he instead had pulled up a chair and made to sit at Jigen's side all night. He reached out and held Jigen's hand and it hit the gunman then.
Lupin loved him and against all the odds and walls he had built up Jigen loved him too. He moved as gingerly as he could to the edge of the bed and gave Lupin's hand a tug. The thief's eyes snapped to his and he must have found what he was looking for because he crawled in beside his partner with a small tight smile. Jigen gave a huff.
" I'm gonna be fine Lu, you made sure of that. ", Jigen assured.
When the smile had loosened Jigen steeled himself for the possibility that he was an old hopeful fool and this was all in his mind and leaned forward to rub his nose gently with Lupin's. Lupin whimpered and before Jigen had the chance to even think of backing off, surged forward and sealed their lips together in a chaste but passionate kiss. Jigen's heart was beating so fast he feared he would pass out but then it was over and Lupin was looking at him the same way he did Fujiko. Jigen smiled brightly and leaned his forehead to Lupin's. They remained pressed together and from that night on Jigen did his best to not only stay by Lupin's side but to always touch him as much as possible.
-Fujiko-
Lupin's hands always find her, from the moment they meet. Fujiko doesn't mind it but she doesn't get the same thing from it he does and sometimes it can be too much. The relief she had felt when she had returned from one of her absences to find he and Jigen wrapped up in one another had almost made her feel guilty. She loves Lupin, she really does but she can't stand the feeling of another person against her too long. It feels like a cage she can't get out of. Lupin tries to act like her aloofness doesn't bother him but she can see it in his eyes sometimes as she runs away after another " Betrayal ".
It gets a lot easier after Jigen and Lupin become an item. Jigen is extremely observant of those he holds dear and by proxy of Lupin she falls into that category and it doesn't take the sharp shooter long to notice when Lupin's Physical affection becomes too much. He starts to run interference, distracting Lupin with his own affection or a task just tricky enough to distract Lupin for a few hours so that instead of running completely away Fujiko can vanish into another room for as long as she needs to breathe.
- Goemon-
When Fujiko betrays Goemon that first time he honestly doesn't notice. He is to consumed with taking down Lupin. Then before he knows it hes a part of the group and feels surprisingly at ease with Lupin and Jigen that when Fujiko shows up he had almost forgotten her completely. She spends a month with them, some nights in Lupin's bed, some nights in his and then she betrays them and flies off into the sunset with their haul and Goemon feels broken.
At the time he assumed Lupin had noticed on his own but he would find out later that wasn't the case but at the time it didn't matter. What had mattered was that that night Lupin had followed him to his bed and had stroked his hair as the sobs wracked his body until he fell asleep. When he awoke in the morning it was to Lupin pressed to his back and the smell of fresh tea and coffee in the mugs Jigen was holding as he watched them form the doorway.
It would take years for them to flush out their dynamic but from that day on he and Lupin had grown closer and Goemon finds himself a bit more free with his touch. First with only Lupin and then with Lupin's partner, until he became Goemon's partner as well.
- Zenigata-
Inspector Zenigata is Lupin's from the moment the two meet and he holds the skinny man in an almost bear hug after his handcuffs prove useless. Zenigata doesn't know this right away and doesn't consider Lupin his until much much later. No one is surprised when it happens though. After all you can only spend so much time with someone without either hating their guts or learning to love them. Zenigata has never been able to hate anyone.
When Zenigata does figure it out though the group sees him at every case, every single one. He leaves everything in his old life behind and learns everything he can about the lupin gang. It isn't too far into his research and observation that Zenigata learns the same thing Jigen had realized all those years ago. Lupin's love langue is physical touch and it isn't lost on the inspector all the times Lupin has let himself be cuffed just to get close. after this realization he makes sure Every single one of his future encounters with Lupin also doesn't end until Zenigata has put some part of his body on Lupin's.
