Chapter Text

On a peaceful school night, a TV would be the lone thing lighting up the place. Amidst a dark living room, a young 17 year old girl would comfortably sit with her pyjama-covered legs huddled in front of it, gawking at the screen of childish technicolour ponies in front of her. The volume was just quiet enough to not disturb her sleeping family members, but loud enough for her to hear. It was like there wasn't much that could separate her from her secret comfort show.

Just as she was watching, a middle aged man would trudge and wobble down the stairs, gripping the stairs-barrister for dear life, and waving a bottle of alcohol in the other. Randy could be heard muttering a few things to himself, but it was too hard for anyone to make out what he was saying. It was then, when he'd find his teenage daughter in the living room.

"Shelly Marsh! It is --- 1:02 am! Just whuh - whaddaya think you're doing here, young lady?!"

He'd check his watch in the middle of his drunk telling-off, but his blurry vision would prove difficult to see, as he'd just woken up about 2 minutes before to take a piss. "And at 1:02 am?"

The brunette didn't seem too bothered by the disturbance of her drunk father, it was like he didn't even intimidate her and this was a regular occurrence. She'd just shrug, before quietly marching back to her room in defeat. There was plenty of time to continue watching tomorrow.

His brows would furrow in slight confusion as he would turn towards the screen to see what his almost-grown daughter was watching. To him, It looked like it was something that Shelly was far too old to be watching. I mean, talking ponies? at her grown age? He thought he'd raise his kids to be bigger men and women than that. Or maybe she was just on a childhood marathon? Regardless, he'd entertain himself the idea of checking it out, as he'd plop himself down on the living room couch.

"I mean, psst, how bad could it really be? I mean cmon..." He'd stifle a chuckle, guzzling down a few extra more drops of beer. Just a few minutes, he promised himself, then he'd go back to bed.

A couple minutes, turned into half an hour, which was a full episode. Randy had came to enjoy the show more than he would've expected. He'd grown particularly attached to the blue pony, with a striking rainbow mane. For parts of the episode, he'd been leaning in towards the screen in anticipation at what would happen next. There was no way this was the only episode he was going to watch, he'd decided.

"Oh. My. God. No way! Rainbow Dash did a Sonic Rainboom?! Duuude-!" his hand rushed over the manchild's mouth. He HAD to tell Sharon and let the kids know the next morning, and recommend this show to the rest of the dads.

"—So then, Twilight Sparkle became a Princess and she like, totally kicked all the bad guys' asses!"

"Uh huh, can you tell us all this stuff maybe after school..?" Stan would look out for the bus, yawning as he'd pack his backpack for the day ahead.

The corners of randy's mouth would form into a dissapointed frown "Aw, okay. Well, atleast let me tell you about the defeating of King Sombra. I really think he was a great villain for the show 'cause-"

The door would instantly slam, and his 2 children had left for school in a matter of seconds.

Stan would face down as he strolled past the gate, avoiding eye contact with the few stares he got.

"What seems to be the problem, Stan? You don't usually look this down, dude.." The red-headed ginger would consideratively place a supportive gloved hand on his shoulder.

"It's my dad..." He'd take the courage to admit

"Lately, he's been obsessed with...a cartoon.."
