Chapter Text

Underneath an island, a legend has been told of a dragon that was the largest of all, one who has been asleep for years now they say but no one else knew why they were hibernating for so long. Many suspect that a cold era hit the island years ago and forced the dragon into a long slumber but others speculate that the dragon was simply hibernating to escape the new dangers that came to the island in the form of humans and other creatures alike, in the end all of these speculations and the dragon itself were considered a myth, for other than the strange federation on the island no one has ever set foot on the island.

Yet.

A low grumble escapes your throat as you slowly wake up from your slumber, the darkness of the cavern and the noises of water dripping from the ceilings were the first to greet you as you slowly rise up from your nest and stretched your limbs as you yawn, feeling more awake you turn your attention back to your nest as you use your snout to poke around in the middle where you have been sleeping and you felt your snout came in contact with something hard and oval that puts relief into you immediently. They are safe, your children are safely where they have been for all these years and your body warmth has thankfullt kept all of them warm when you fell asleep curled up around them to keep them secure as well.

you continue to gently poke around your nest as you count your unhatched children, satisfied when you have counted 11 of them all agaisnt one another though you were a bit dissapointed to see they don't show any signs of hatching, you knew your kind were slow when it comes to hatching and growing but you had hoped that they would show atleast signs of hatching yet not a single crack is felt on their shells, as you sniff the eggs you feel something is off but you can't put a claw on what it is, they are your eggs, you can still smell your scent on each of them but something inside you is telling you that something has happened to them whilst you were hibernating, gently pressing your head agaisnt one of the eggs you were relief to hear the extremely faint heatbeat inside, you knew that they are alive but something is telling you that something must've happen to them but what?

Pacing around the cavern as you felt anxiety rise up, you would surely know that these are your eggs and they are still alive but with how long you had been hibernating you began to worry that something might have happen to them, usually dragons wouldn't even think twice of leaving behind their eggs whenever something is even slightly off with them but you had gotten far too attach to even think of abadoning them. You don't know when was the last time you had seen another dragon beside your mate who only became one for the sole purpose of continuing his legacy and once you had lay your eggs you had not choice but to chase him away from the island, all he will ever do is make hunting and caring for your eggs difficult so you had to get rid of him as fast as you could. But even then motherhood wasn't easy for you

Even with the days of spending gorging yourself with as much food as possible before the laying of your eggs, danger still came when strange creatures began to explore the island, they call themselves humans and you saw them began to build weird structures, knowing how dangerous the unknown can be and the possible risks they will give if they ever find you, you made the decision to fled deep into the caverns of the island where you hope that they will never come due to the dangers of not only the mobs that make these caverns their homes but the maze like patterns that will render the inexperience lost and even the experienced will face dangers here from the variety of mobs that live here.

Did you make the right decision?

Should you had escaped the island before you lay your eggs? 

Despite the many years of living on and now in the island, you weren't sure at this point, all you wish that your children will hatch alright with no complications or health problems but even then you will face another problem as the hatchlings will need to eat, a lot. The sole reason of your hibernation is to be able to survive years of being inside the caverns and to ensure you would still have the energy you need to take care of your children but you knew from your days as a hatchling that hunger isn't merciful, you had to compete with your siblings to be able to survive and thrive until you were old enough to hunt for your own and the last thing you ever want is to have one of your children starve to death.

You knew full well you have to leave them even for a moment to begin to hunt and bring food back to the caverns but the thought of something coming in and possibly damaging them kept flashing in your mind, dragon eggs are far more resilient than any other eggs but they are still prone to damages, in an attempt to calm your nerves as well as keep them safe, you grab any loose large stone and place them infront of the nest like a wall of some sort, once the eggs are hidden behind the wall is only then you began to walk towards the exit of the cavern, repeating to yourself that the eggs will be fine and nothing bad will happen to them, you hope so....

Everything has changed around here, you slowly poke your head out of the entrance of the cavern that is located on the side of a large mountain, you spread your wings and with a mighty flap you propell yourself out of the cave back into the skies, where the air greeted you once again after years of sleep.

You remember that wilderness and nature domain over the island but now you see weird structures and buildings, as well as a giant wall that seems to seperate half of the island, you were glad that it was the dead of night when you emerged, your natural black scales allow your to blend into the darkness as you begin your hunt as fast as possible, you din't want to take too long hunting so you merely hunted what you could easily see and chase after such as cows and sheeps, as soon as you felt like you hunted enough you carry the carcasses with your claws and jaws as you return into the caverns carrying your hunts, you din't even wait to even eat one yourself, all you knew is that you need to return back quickly to protect your children.

You ran back into the caverns in a hurry that you would drop one of your kills and you would have to turn and grab it, sometimes your wings would scratch the walls of the caverns from your hurry as you return to where your nest is located, panting heavily as you drop the kills on the side of the cavern and you approuch the nest, pushing away the makeshift wall with your snout as you inspect your eggs, and to your relief, they are all in the same place as they were left at. You took this time to gather your breath before you return to their side slowly laying down next to them and curling yourself around them with one of wings covering them completely as you relax agaisnt them, your babies are all safe now. The food you got should last a week or so hopefully as you lay there silently agaisnt them.

You were brought back from your rest when you heard a crack, instantly you lift your eyes and see one of your eggs began to move and your heart began to race, they are hatching! and you are able to witness them break out of their shells! You watch as the egg move a bit as the hatchling inside attempts to break the shell. You almost wanted to reach over and help them but you knew that they need to learn how to break out of the shell on their own to give them that bit of strenght that will help them later in life, so you patiently watch them egg move before more cracks began to form on the surface like a earthquake shaking the crust of the earth as the movements inside became more lively and erratic, soon the head of the egg pop off and you watch as your hatchling slowly crawls out...

You stared in shock as you look at the hatchling that crawled out of the egg, you were expecting a little dragon that looks like you or even of your mate! But this hatchling looked more like the bipedals from above in a physical way, they have claws, scales and even wings behind their back with two small pointed horns on their head, but along with that they have a fair amount of hair on their head and their hind legs looks a bit too long for them to walk in all fours like you, you silently stare at the hatchling, wondering if this was the feeling you had earlier when you expected them. What has happened that they became this?

The hatchling opened his eyes, revealing brown eyes as he looks around in a state of confusion and curiosity before his eyes met yours, silence occured as you stare back at the hatching infront of you truly wondering if this hatchling is truly your child and if it is, what had happened that cause this type of growth.

"Mama!!"

You were taken out of your thoughts as the young shrieked the word, as you watch him crawl towards you with eyes full of vigor as he reached up to you with one of his hand, managing to hold your snout as he giggles seemingly proud of himself for his accomplisment. You were silent the entire time until you felt his paw held your snout as it allows you to sniff him a bit, truly confiming that despite his different appearance, he is truly your son as you begin to lick the slime that covered him from his hatching off of him, enciting a giggle from the hatchling as he wags his tail at long last. Your egg has hatched, as you continue to clean him you hear the similar cracking as you turn to see your other eggs began to follow their oldest brother as well, soon hatched quite quickly as they kick and punch their way out of their eggs while others took a long time but eventually broke down from their eggs as they all began to chant "Mama!" All of them in similar physical appearance of their oldest brother with some differences such as their eye and hair color as you continue to lick them clean off of their slime.

Once you had finished cleaning the last and youngest of the hatchlings, they all have snuggled up agaisnt you., exhausted from their struggles inside the egg as you counted them to make sure you are correct, you have five girls and six boys all hatched without any major issue and not physical deformaties other than their all more bipedal build but that doesn't matter now that they are still your chidlren as you lay your wing gently on them as you rest your head on the nest, tomorrow will be your first day as a mother and you could not wait to watch them all grow strong and powerful under your watch, ready to protect them from any dangers that dares to try and harm or take them away from you.

Chapter Text

"Mama!!"

That was the first thing you heard when you felt yourself waking up but it felt far too early that your eyes remained close, hoping to atleast catch a bit more sleep before tackling the day

"Mama!!!"

You felt a small hand hold your snout and began to bap your nose, guess parenthood doesn't stop for rest from what you can now feel as you slowly open your eyes with a groan as your vision slowly adjust to see one of your sons infront of you with now both of his hands on your snout, his tal wagging behind him as his brown eyes looks into you. "Mama!!" He shouts yet again as he giggles, seemingly happy to see you finally awake and despite the tiredness in your eyes begging you to close them again, you ignore them as you gently exhale on him as a way to silently greet him which made him giggle more, at that time you felt wiggling beside you so you lift up your wing to see the rest of your hatchling beginning to slowly wake up with most of the yawning and stretching their limbs, but one did remain asleep agaisn't you even snuggling into your side more.

Your bring up one of your claws to begin to wipe your eyes a bit off of some grime that has built up over night before deciding to slowly stand up, being careful not to wake up one of your sons that still remains asleep as he lays on your nest, atleast someone is getting the rest they need. As you stood there ready for the new day of being a parent, you felt the son that woke you up tap you again to get your attention, once you turn to him he immediently yips as he runs over to your pile of animal carcass that you had hunted before and ran towards the nearest one, you watch as he tries to sink his teeth into the hide and chew on it but failling to break into the flesh, ah it would seem their jaws aren't that strong enough to break into its hide, while hatchlings do eat meat after they hatch, they will require assistance and it would seem your son was hungry enough to wake you up.

Walking over to the animal carcass which you recognize was that of a cow, you lean in and began to tear it to small pieces with your jaw as your son immediently grab a piece and began to eat it. Smelling the food your other hatchlings came and grab a piece for them to eat as you continue to tear the whole carcass into smallter pieces for them to eat, even your sleeping child was soon awaken from the smell of the meat and came running to grab one, soon all that was left was a skeleton of the animal as you ate the remaining meat left behind with some of your hatchlings amusingly began playing with some of the bones with one of them trying to wear the skull on his head only to fall on his side as it was a bit too heavy for him.

With their bellies full they eventually began to explore the cavern that you have called home though some were more keen on playing with one another with a pair of sons wrestling one another and trying to get the upper hand, it was here that you realize that they would need a name as all you kept calling them are hatchlings or little ones, it was time each one of them gets a name of their own one that will be worthy of being a name of dragons that will soon be powerful and fearless.

You turn to turn to one of your sons, who has return back to your nest and slept again after eating his meal and you cannot help but smile amusingly a bit, you have seen that dragons that tend to be lazy also tend to be one of the biggest hoarders out there, they would often hoard their items to the point that they will have their den be filled with the treasures they have hoarded. They tend to be dragons that are extremely proud of themselves and you won't be suprise if he becomes one of those dragons in the future, you just hope they are as witty and cunning as that type of dragon, Hmm in your language intelligent is called Mindosaal and Royal means Dulsosaal but those two combined on their own would be a bit too long for a dragon so cutting them and then combining the words together and you got Minso, Minso yeah that's a good name for a royal and intelligent dragon, quite cute too in your opinion.

As you watch Minso roll a bit in his sleep, you hear a soft warble and you turn to see one of your daughters seemingly trying to speak already or at the very least out a very soft and light growl, hatchlings do not speak for a while after hatching and they will usually start speaking at around a month after hatching. You turn to see what she is staring at to see a small bat hanging from the ceiling, is she trying to communicate with it? She continues to let out small chirps and warble that reminds you of a baby bird learning their songs from their mother, you continue to watch her attempts of communication at the small mammal when it suddenly flaps it wings and flew towards your daughter who let out a high pitched shriek as she fall backwards on the ground.

You quickly stood up but one of your sons beat you to it, quickly running into the scene and grabbing the bat with his mouth and began to wildly swing it around as the bat’s shriek filled the cavern grabbing the attention of the rest of the children beside Minso who remained asleep before flinging it away. The bat falls to the ground as it quickly regains itself and fly away just in time for it to dodge one of your sons who tried to pounce on it, you turn your attention back to your daughter who still in the process of calming herself down as your son pat her back, as you approach the two your daughter turn to you as she proceeds to run towards you letting out a distressed chirp, you lower your head to her to allow her to hug it, you let out a soft growl of reassurance as she let out small whimpers as her brother pats her back, while she wasn’t really in danger she was still quite spooked from it as it was her first encounter with a bat.

You turn to your son as you can’t help but smile a bit, he was sharp in taking quick action to rescue your daughter from the bat, your daughter slowly lets go of your snout as she turns to her brother and hugged him tightly, it was quite a cute scene with your son looking quite confused on whether to be bashful about it or be proud of his actions, either way it seems that two of your children have gotten closer and you already have thought of names for them, Your daughter will have the name Melody, from her chirps and warble from earlier, you can see her being quite a melodic dragon who’s voice would capture hearts of others.

As for your son, Blade is a perfect name for him, Not only is he proven to be quite sharp and quick as one, he has shown to have a protective nature for his brothers and sisters as he shown today, and you know once he has grown stronger, he will be a force to be reckoned with. Melody and Blade chirped at each other for a bit as Melody thanks him for his actions before something caught her eye and she ran over to it with Blade immediately following just behind her, you can rest assured that she will be kept an eye on along with her other siblings should you need to leave them alone for a bit.

You hear some soft growls as you turn to see one of your sons and daughters wrestling one another, trying to get the upper hand as they push and shove one another non were clearly hard enough to hurt so it was merely a simple game of wrestling which are quite common for hatchlings as you have heard and seen when you were once a hatchling. Thought the wrestling stopped when another one of your sons dove into the middle of the match causing the two to yelp in surprise and annoyance as he stood in the middle with his claws on his hips with a smirk, seemingly proud of his accomplishments before the two grab him and pull him right into their wrestling match as they continue their wrestling match now with three of them.

You look at the three as you begin to think of names for them, you watch as your daughter uses her tail to wrap around one of her brother’s leg and pull him away to get the advantage, Hmm Cinta would be a good name for her, using her tail as a weapon like a ribbon and with cleverness like that, she would have no trouble dodging attacks with it. As your son yelps with him getting pulled away, you watch as he struggles out of her grip and escape by climbing the wall, using his claws to grip the stony edge, you immediently think of a name for him, Cleave for his claws are not only sharp enough to split wood in half, he would be great at clinging at walls to surprise attack his prey/enemies.

Your other son on the other hand merely focused back on wrestling with Cinta as he proceeds to tackle her as they roll on the ground and continue their wrestling which you suspect could take a while, But it gives you an idea for a name, Ari, you had heard it means lion or eagle in other languages and with an attitude like that, he is more than deserving of a name such as that.

Hearing some chirps that sounded of cheering, you turn to see one of your daughters waving to you to get your attention as two of her children stood behind her, chirping at her encouragingly so you turn to her to give her your full attention as she takes a deep breathe before jumping up and doing a backflip midair and managing to land on her feet as your children cheered for her, you were quite surprise to see her to be quite strong enough at her age to be able to do something like that as you let out a growl of approval that made a smile appear on her face as she turns to her siblings who continue to cheer for her to do it again.

You continue to watch them communicate with one another as you think for names for her and one thing immediently went to mind, Aella, you remember an ancient dragon that would fly around the world and to create whirlwinds and well, with your daughter’s demonstration who is to say she can’t do the same once she grows up?

A few hours pass til you can name another one of your children as things were calming down a bit, that was until you hear a whimper from one of your children as you turn to see one of your sons seems to be limping as he tries walk towards you as you immediently stood and went over to him as one of your daughters also noticed and ran over to hold up him up as you carefully inspect him, his legs seems uninjured but you see one of the legs seem to be more skinnier than the other, you look on in worry you know that while these birth defects would be common especially for large batch of eggs, you were sure that they would all come out healthy, did the thing that caused them to become bipedal do this?

Your daughter let out a whimper of worry she holds her brother, you aren’t sure what to do other than to gently comfort your son, you hope that as he grows his leg would get better as he grows and you know he will grow, he is a strong and resilient boy, Haruki, a name you have heard that means resilient and you know damn well he is a resilient boy. Your daughter nod at you as she helps Haruki towards the nest to rest up, such as sweetheart, one as sweet as the fruits you eat and so the word Melora came and set as she helps Haruki on the nest.

And finally you see two of your sons chirping at each other as they show their…. toys? to each other,  your perspective they are playing with rocks and bones that were connected by vines and moss, you watched as they test their toys on some rocks, hitting it with their toys to see which one would break and which one would hold up, and immediently you knew names for them you turn to one with red eyes and decided to give him the name Leo and you turn to the other and gave him the name Heron, both names that suit their personalities.

You let out a breathe of relief as you had finally finished naming all of your children, but as you relax you heard a soft whiring like noise as you turn to the source of the sound to see two pairs of green eyes that immediently disappeared, you stood up and walked over to the darkness using your fire to light it to up yet to find nothing but you weren’t stupid, something is watching you and it is not after you.

Chapter Text

“Maaaaaaa! Ari is trying to steal from my hoard again!”

”I was not! I was just checking it! Plus why would I want to steal from your dumb hoard?”

“You take that back! You don’t even have a hoard!”

”I do! It’s just hidden so you wouldn’t steal from it!”

You pause your grooming for a moment to turn and watch Minso (Ramòn) and Ari (Bobby) argue back and forth with Minso (Ramòn) laying on top of a small pile of gold ore in the corner of the cavern, having your attention taken from her when her brothers started fighting, Aella (JuannaFlippa) whined as she reached up to your snout to get you to continue your grooming, which you eventually did as the two boys continued their bickering.

Months have passed since the hatching of your children and they grew up quite fast, which is normal for hatchlings before their aging will slow down in around their young adult years, but for now your little ones are quite the fast learner with already capable of speaking long sentences and already are having their natural instincts of hoarding. You of course had to teach them on how and what to hoard specifically on how, as hoards vary among dragons but you did mention that they must hoard those that they value a lot.

Minso (Ramòn) was then first to truly hoard as you allow your hatchlings to explore the vast caverns of your home, he immediately took interest on the shiny ores like gold and iron, using his claws and horns to chip away the stone and bring his loot to his spot to hoard, of course it din’t take long for some of your children to try and steal from him to which you immediately reprimand them and taught that them a dragon must respect another dragon’s hoard, for it is extremely special for them. 

Thus your children all went and gather anything that may interest them to hoard, Leo (Leonardo) and Heron (Dapper)’s hoards were quite similar to one another, consisting of oddly shaped rocks and sticks that they would combine, Blade (Chayanne) began to hoard bones that he would gather from the skeletons that would wander around or sometimes he would hunt them himself and he has already gathered an impressive amount of bones. The rest of your children din’t find anything in the cavern which led to the infamous fights as you see right now.

“What do you even see in those dumb rocks anyway? it hurts to look at them” Ari (Bobby) says whilst hissing at his brother's pile as if to prove a point as he receives a much louder hiss from Minso (Ramon) as he protectively hug his pile

"It hurts to look at your dumb face even more!! at least my hoard is shiny unlike your muddy face!" He shrieks as the two brothers hissed at each other while you kept an eye on them, while you are sure this would not result in a fight immediately and even if it did it would not result in any broken scales, the last thing you want is your children to literally fight to the point that scales will get chipped and possibly break a bone.

Their glaring and hissing din't last very long as Blade (Chayanne) strolled up between them and using a bone, he hits them both gently on the head with a annoyed look. Receiving a yelp of pain from both of them as they glare at him as he merely glares back.

"Quit your bickering, both of ya" Blade (Chayanne) growled.

"But Ari-", "Minso was being a bu-"

"I said shut up, period!!" the two immediately silences after their oldest brother's tone changed from annoyed to angry in a span of seconds with his tail lashing back and forth, "Me and Melody (Tallulah) are trying to watch and listen to the bats so if you do continue your bickering, go and scream at each other somewhere else" he mutters before turning around and leaving both of them, to which the two looked at each other and glared one more time before Ari (Bobby) eventually just left towards the other way while Minso (Ramon) lays back on his hoard.

You let out a huff of amusement as you watch the entire thing, it's crazy to thing that a few months ago they were barely forming complete sentences and are extremely clingy to you but now they are becoming increasingly curious about the outside world, constantly asking you what is it like and asking if they can go out and you always respond with the same answer.

Maybe someday

If the humans weren't there you would have allowed them in a heartbeat for them to explore the world at an early age but you've seen what these humans are capable of, if the large wall that separates the part of the island tells you anything as well as the strange encounter months ago with the weird sound and glowing green eyes. There is no doubt that humans are behind these for you never had seen anything like those before they had come to the island, it doesn't help that you have been seeing a lot more of them recently coming out of these weird moving blocks at night. You're sure they haven't spotted you yet, fully anyway but you know that they are aware of your presence along with your children's

Well, if its your children they are after, then they'll have to get through your dead cold body first....
