Sakura dipped her feet in the cool waters, enjoying the sensation on her skin. It wasn't every day she got to visit the shoreline just outside of Fuyuki City, especially with Rider. Somehow, it was both familiar and a whole new experience at the same time.
The wind brushed past her, and she closed her eyes, taking in the moment. Her hair had grown longer after being cut short for a long while, and she loved the feel of it cascading in the breeze. This was what it felt, to just be, to live in the moment.
"The water feels just wonderful, doesn't it, Sakura?" A soft voice lifted Sakura from her reverie, and she opened her eyes to see Rider standing next to her in the water. She regarded her with a calm that she felt with no one else with her, something she herself only knew.
Sakura smiled and nodded. "Yes, it certainly is, Rider. It's been far too long since I've seen the ocean."
Rider nodded as well, her eyes softening. "Yes, I could say the same thing. I can't remember the last time I have seen the waters, even beyond the horizon."
She couldn't be sure, but Sakura thought she heard a wistfulness in Rider's voice, perhaps remembering who she was long ago, or where she came from. Either way, she understood such a feeling.
"Maybe, but it's not too late," Sakura replied, her hand reaching for Rider's, lightly grasping and twining their fingers together. "We can new memories, together."
Rider turned her head towards Sakura, their eyes meeting, and she smiled. "Of course."
Their fingers intertwined, and they stood in the shoreline, the waters rushing back and forth on their feet.
Rider and Sakura would make new memories, and this would be one of many.
