The city was glittering, its tall sky scrapers alight with lights and signs of life. You sat upon a building ledge, watching the people walk by on the ground completely oblivious to the possiblity of anything out of the ordinary. You envied them in a way, being completely blind to the horrors that lurked within the shadows of the world, waiting to strike. And what were these horrors that might remain hidden from the naked eye? Well they were what many people would describe as monsters in simpler terms. Creatures that shouldn't exist in the world yet somehow do. Vampires, werewolves, spirits, demons the list went on. Fortunately for the people who remained ignorant of these things there were people who fought these creatures.
People like you. You were a spiritual bounty hunter, a special type of hunter tasked with protecting the innocents that the monsters of the dark would feed upon and terrorize for their own amusement. And you were on a mission to take out a target that was assigned to you by your boss Crowley. A vampire to be specific and a very old one at that. He went by many names but the name that stuck the most and was more well known was the Midnight Dancer, due to his fluid movements when fighting. Or that's what the file had told you anyway, personally you didn't care too much for such things. The only thing you cared about was getting the job done and getting rid of one more monster out of this world. You sighed irritated that nothing had happened yet. The place you were looking out from was apparently close to the vampire's favorite hunting ground and unfortunately tonight a big celebration party for Halloween was being hosted at this area. A perfect place for unsuspecting humans to be taken away and never seen again.
As you watched the crowd begin to gather around the area and really start to pick up in the partying department you'd noticed someone out of the corner of your eye. A man who looked around your age was standing close to the building you were hiding out on, completely alone and watching the crowd with a hawk like stare. You narrowed your eyes, red flags rising in your head. The man was off, his whole aura seemed to be distorted in a way, almost as if he wasn't truly apart of the crowd of people who were partying.
"Better keep an eye on him."
You muttered softly as you quietly moved yourself closer to get a better look over the edge and then scaling down the side of it. The man hadn't noticed you as you finally touched the ground, now joined with the other people who were dressed up in costumes. Now that you were closer you took a good look at him. He was a tall man with a somewhat muscular build. He was blonde and had a bobbed hair cut that ended at his chin and a hat was upon his head. His costume was that of what you believed to be a fashionable version of a vampire and the mask he wore held two bright green eyes. You couldn't help but scuff quietly. Ironic of this man if he was your target, to dress up as the very thing you were assigned to kill. You were pushed out of your thoughts when the man was approached by a young woman who had decided to chat him up. The man smiled at her and engaged in the conversation and began to walk away a bit with her. You were instantly on alert and followed close behind, your dark trenchcoat fluttering slightly behind you. It was when the man had taken the woman away from the celebration that you knew you had your target.
The duo walked for a good few minutes before disappearing into an alleyway, with you following as silent as a grave.
"You look beautiful tonight mademoiselle~"
A deep, smooth French accent came from him, the woman seeming to swoon at hearing it.
"Oh my you're a sweet talker aren't you?"
She replied sounding flirtatious. You wanted to roll your eyes but forced yourself to focus on the duo, ready to intervene as you got out your weapon. The man let out a chuckle and you watched him step forward, caging the woman against the wall of the alley.
"Only for you mon chere, after all I must let you know about how lovely you are."
He said leaning in close. You were quick when you saw the fangs appear as he neared the woman's neck. As quick as a flash you shot your weapon, aiming for the head. The vampire moved quickly and the woman let out a terrified scream at the loud banging noise. Standing at the mouth of the alleyway you looked to the woman and gestured her towards you, your weapon aimed at the vampire who stared at you menacingly.
"Go! Leave now it's not safe!"
You barked causing the woman to jump and quickly bolt away from the scene. You didn't even bother to watch her leave, your gaze trained on the vampire.
"You know, dressing up like a vampire when you are one is quite weird. Then again most of you monsters are weird huh mister? Or should I call you Midnight Dancer?"
You spat coldly. The man gave you a look before a smirking smile came across his face as he stood up to his full height, fangs bared and ready to attack.
"Ah so you're one of those bounty hunters oui? No wonder you were able to catch on quickly. As for my costume I find it rather humorous and a bit lovely. Don't you agree my dear?"
He asked you with a half lided smile. You glared in response.
"No."
You said simply shooting your weapon again. The vampire moved jumping out of the way and climbing up the side of the alleyway to get to one of the surrounding buildings. You cursed and quickly rushed to catch up with him and take him down. The vampire was fast and quickly got to the top before disappearing from your view. You climbed up right behind him, scaling up the wall and pushing yourself off of the surrounding objects to get up as well. By the time you reached the top he was already jumping on to another rooftop. You took off after him, shooting your weapon at him to try and slow him down. It was only a few minutes before you chased him to a dead end of buildings and building tops in an abandoned part of the city. You again aimed your weapon ready to take him out when he sprung around suddenly with a quick fluid motion and let something fly straight in your direction. You barely managed to dodge it as it hit the spot you were in, a bright light exploding from the collision. You coughed a bit from the dirt that flew into the air and realized that the bastard had shot an arrow at you.
"I will admit little bounty hunter, that I was not expecting you to dodge my arrow. It seems that you're not only sharp but quite good at sensing danger. How absolutely beautiful~!"
The vampire praised looking impressed. You grit your teeth and launched at him, firing your weapon at him again only for him to move out of the way gracefully. His movements reminded you of a professional dancer and you couldn't help but feel irritated that you didn't connect the origin of his name till just now.
"Shut up and fight you blood sucking-"
You began to snarl before the vampire flung himself at you, knocking you off of your feet and knocking your weapon out of your hands. The vampire smirked grabbing your shirt front and lifting you up.
"Heheheh...it seems as if the little monster hunters group sent me a newbie. How boring. At least I will enjoy a delicious meal from a lovely human such as yourself."
He purred nearing your neck, believing that he'd won. But there was a reason why you were hired. The vampire didn't seem to realize what was happening as he was slammed by your foot aimed straight towards his face in an upwards kick, just barely nicking his chin. Stunned he'd dropped you, holding his bleeding chin from where your boot had caught it. You landed on your feet and in a practiced motion set a roundhouse kick at him. The vampire quickly blocked it, and the two of you engaged in a bloody dance of kicks, fists swinging and dodging. He watched and blocked your attacks, awed.
'Their form....! They're incredible! They're not a newbie non....! They're a veteran hunter!'
He thought practically buzzing with excitement at the challenge you had to offer. He was star struck by how fierce you were, your (E/C) eyes alight with a fiery determination to finish him off. You went to swing again but he grabbed your fist and spung you around, trapping your arms behind your back and forcing you to look at him.
"You moi belle rose, are stunning."
He breathed. You stared at him thrown off by his words for a moment and had stopped struggling for a spilt second before shooting him a nasty glare.
"You are absolutely insane-!"
You snarled before you were stopped by something you'd never expected to ever happen. The Midnight Dancer had kissed your cheek. You went wide eyed, baffled by his stunt but before you could process it you were suddenly tossed away from him. You rolled a good few feet away and stunned you tried to stumble to your feet only to see the masked vampire smiling at you.
"I hate to leave you moi belle rose but I fear that my time is running short. I hope to see you again little bounty hunter~!"
He said in a chipper way before jumping off of the building with a wink. You quickly snapped out of your shocked stupor and scrambled to the edge with your discarded weapon and went to look on the other side only to see that your target had disappeared. You felt your cheeks rise up in a blush, whether it was from anger, embarrassment, or flattery you didn't know. All you knew was that you lost your target and Crowley was going to tear you a new one. Snarling you shouted out.
"YOU...!!! YOU FLIRTY, DANCING SON OF A-"

Rook watched you from the shadows as you swore him out amused. You were a fiesty little human weren't you? Even with all the wounds and the overwhelming emotions you were threatening to beat him up. It was honestly quite charming and adorable if he thought about it. You weren't like the other spiritual bounty hunters he'd crossed. You were different. Rook smirked retreating into the shadows as he disappeared into the night to head back to his coven that was waiting for him. He knew Vil was going to have a fit when he saw his busted chin and lip as well as his messed up outfit and Epel would most likely be worried but he didn't mind. After all he believed it was worth it for meeting a beautiful flaming inferno that was you. He may have lost his pray tonight but he a new challenge for him to take down as a hunter. Rook thought back to the kiss he'd given your cheek and about your adorable baffled look and chuckled.
He was going to enjoy this new source of entertainment.
