Eddie sees Buck with his new girlfriend and sighs. He's done. After giving away his heart and soul to the man, the man always breaks them. He feels a hand on his bicep. He looks to see May.
"What's the word of the day?" He questions the younger woman. That was how they bonded when he was at Dispatch.
"Word of the day is tyro, it's a noun, and it means a beginner in learning anything; novice," She says. Linda goes to them.
"How are you doing, Eddie?" The woman asks. Eddie smiles at his friend. After he leaves Dispatch, he does his best to keep in contact with them.
"I'm going to be okay," Eddie says. He feels Buck's eyes on him and looks his way. He sees confusion, and that makes Eddie angry. Buck wants to pretend that's fine, but Eddie's done. After Eddie returned to the 118, most didn't trust Eddie to stay again and hurt Buck. Hen, Chimney, Athena, Maddie, and Bobby gave him the shovel talk. Treat Buck right.
"So you're leaving for good?" May questions him.
"The 118 is Buck's home, and I'm ready to return to mine. They knew what I was doing, and they all supported me. I was waiting for Buck to make his move, and he did. I love him, but he's not returning my feelings. My last day to tomorrow," Eddie explains to the women. May looks at him with confusion.
"Who's your family?" She asks, making Eddie smile. He sees two people that he loves. One is someone that he wants to try spending the rest of his life with. Someone that can get him over Buck.
"My military family. The ones I was with weren't part of my family but were friends," Eddie says, making May hum.
"Have you told Bobby?" She asks. Linda smiles with pride. She hates to see her friend hurting. Eddie smiles bitterly.
"I'm transferring out of the 118 to the hospital. I'm taking charge of the ER," Eddie says, making both women giggle. Both know that Eddie could take charge of Dispatch but with Josh, not a battle worth fighting. May and Linda see a man coming towards them and smirks.
"Eds, are you ready?" A 6'5" dark skin man with gray eyes and brown hair with a Greek accent. Eddie looks at him with love. He feels love for him. Buck seems upset at the man with Eddie.
"Hey, Hector. I'm good to go. Coffee Saturday?" He questions the two females. They smile.
"Saturday," May confirms, and Linda nods. Eddie kisses Hector, making the man blink at him. After the surprise kiss, Hector beams at him and takes him out of the Grant-Nash home. The 118 are in stunned silence at what they witnessed. Buck looks destroyed. May sighs. She will clear things up with him.
"How did it go?" Eddie asks on Saturday. May glares at him. She knew he had done that intentionally, and he didn't feel bad about it. However, it made her feel good. She has seen both sides and never took a side.
"Buck didn't take it well and didn't know what to do. The rest are guilty of their part of the hurt. I told them that they needed therapy," May says. Eddie shrugs. He's done caring what strangers think. Hector gives him the love he deserves on the night of the party.
A year later, Eddie meets up with Buck at a cafe. They haven't talked in a while, and Eddie does miss him. Buck has been Eddie's best friend for a long time and wants to be friends with him again. The man looks healthy.
"Hi," Buck smiles nervously, and Eddie returns the smile.
"Hi. How are you?" Eddie asks, and Buck sighs.
"I'm okay. I miss you. I miss your friendship and love. I'm sorry for misunderstanding your feelings for me," Buck says, making Eddie sigh.
"I'm sorry too for the misunderstandings as well. I love you, Buck, and I will forever love you. At one point, I was in love with you. I hope that you are happy," Eddie says. Buck looks at him.
"I love you too, Eds. I have been for a long time. I have a wonderful boyfriend. I want us to be friends again," Buck says, and Eddie smiles.
"I would love that," Eddie agrees. He goes home to see Hector cooking.
"Where's our children?" Eddie goes to his husband. The man smiles at him. Hector gets done with the food and puts it in the fridge.
"With Tommy and Dean. How did it go with Buck?" Hector supports their relationship, and Eddie loves him with every fiber within his body. He loves Hector.
"I'm getting a friend back," He says, and Hector picks him up and takes him to the bedroom.
Eddie stands beside May and Linda to watch his best friend getting married. He told Buck he didn't want to participate in the wedding planning, and Buck laughed. Bobby is the best man.
"How's the boyfriend?" Eddie questions May. The woman scoffs at him, and Hector laughs. May and Hector are friends, and that makes Eddie happy. Sonya was delighted to talk with Linda. The two bonded, and Eddie bounced joyfully when Natalie and May connected.
"Good. Mom is having a hard time knowing that I'm a grown-up. Bobby is there to help Mom," May says. Eddie and Buck were the first to know about the boyfriend, and as her older brothers, the two men had to approve of the man.
"You have to learn someday," Linda says, making Eddie laugh, and May blush. Hector and Linda's husband pull them away to dance. May laughs at them. She feels her mom beside her.
"How's Eddie?" Athena questions. She feels guilty for not connecting with the man when he is with them. However, she wants to get to know Eddie. May sighs. Athena and Bobby had their chance, but Seth and Patty were Eddie's parents. Have been for a long time.
"He's good. He's happy," She says as she watches him dance with Hector. Buck dances next to them. She's glad that Eddie and Buck made up and have people who accepted their friendship.
