Work Text:

Lunch was the only thing Tweek was looking forward to at school today, apart from dismissal. In every single one of his classes, he had to take some type of test or quiz and he was so burnt out from worrying and stressing about it that he just wanted to take a break.

So, when he finally sat down at his usual table, the trey that held food in his hands being placed carefully on the surface, he felt he could finally breathe. He let his shoulders slump and was about to let out another pleased sigh before he was interrupted by a voice.

“Do you think aliens are real?” Jason asked, poking at his food before scooping up a spoonful and shoving it into his mouth. “Huh?! Aliens!?? Gah! I hope not! That would be way too much pressure!” Tweek shook, twitching slightly, suddenly feeling stressed about the possibility of an entirely different species living amongst them.

“Well, I think it would be cool. Did you know I have been studying their language?” Jason asked, an excited smile on his face. Tweek gulped, starting to sweat, “Language?! How can you—ngh—study a language of something you aren’t even sure exists!? Th-That’s unsettling!!” He whined, his voice straining.

Jason shrugged, “Imagination?” he asked but that didn’t comfort Tweek in the slightest. “Hey, don’t worry about it, let’s not worry about aliens until they come, okay? Uh, focus on the gift… or something.” Jason said with a thumbs up, continuing to eat his food.

“Focus on the…. what? You mean focus on the present?” Tweek asked, a smile creeping up on his face at his friend’s mistake. Jason blinked, thinking before letting out a small laugh, “Oh yeah! Focus on the present!” He nodded, Tweek laughed at that, feeling much better than he did previously.

Tweek felt a light pressure press against his shoulder, he turned his head and saw Craig taking a seat on his right. “Hey Tweek, Hi Jason.” He greeted the two, Jason nodded his head, silently greeting him back since his mouth was full of food. Tweek smiled, “Hey, Craig! Mgh—” he said, jerking his head to the side causing one eye to close but then open just as quick.

Craig smiled and winked before eating his own food. Tweek raised an eyebrow, about to speak up about it but was interrupted by Clyde and Jimmy, who sat in front of the three of them. Tweek forgot to ask, being too distracted at what whatever topic Clyde or Jason brought to the table.

It was finally dismissal and all Tweek wanted to do was get home and pass out on his bed. Actually, he knew that wasn’t possible with his insomnia, but he just wanted to relax and do nothing after a day of doing everything. He feels that he deserves that, even if its only for an hour or two.

Tweek closed his locker and jumped when he saw Craigs face appear next to him. “Gah! Craig!!” He yelled, letting himself calm down, “Stop doing that! Ngh!” Tweek scolded, his eye twitching and his head jerking. Craig tilted his head notably and then winked at Tweek. The blond was going to ask about the action but was interrupted once again when Craig spoke up before he could.

“Can I come over today?” He asked, playing with loose strings of his hat. Tweek perked up at that, his plan was to fall on his bed and never get up, but he figured it’d be even better if he got to relax with Craig by his side too. Craig always managed to bring a sense of peace and security to Tweek, and it was honestly addicting, it made Tweek want to be by his side any time he could.

“Y-Yeah!” Tweek agreed instantly, grinning. Craig smiled back, it was small, but Tweek knew Craig had trouble with expressions.

Tweek enjoyed walking home from school with Craig, it was a nice walk, and it was one of the few times where Craig would talk for more than a couple of seconds. It felt refreshing to Tweek, being the one listening instead of talking for once, he liked taking a break every now and then and it seems Craig liked talking as much as he liked listening, too.

“I can’t wait for a new episode of Red Racer to come out on Sunday.” Craig said, lightly bouncing himself on the tip of his shoes when he walked. “Can I come over? Mgh—So we can watch it together? Agh—” Tweek asked, twitching and winking when he did so, even if Tweek was completely at peace, the only way he could completely stop his twitches was if he was asleep.

Craig nodded and then winked. Tweek raised his eyebrow, like he did previously. “Why do you keep winking at me? Gah! Do you have tics!? O-Or something in your eye!!?? We have to—ngh—get it out! Immediately!” Tweek panicked, his hands reaching for and tugging on his hair. Craig stayed silent for a while.

“Well, you wink at me first.” Craig frowned and now Tweek was far more confused than he was before. “Huh!? When!?!?” He asked, had he been unintentionally winking at Craig this whole time? Did Craig ever think he was being flirtatious when he did? Tweeks hands began to shake and his face flushed. He really hoped he hadn’t sounded suggestive at some point if he really was winking without knowing.

“You always wink at me.” Craig muttered, breaking eye contact with Tweek and suddenly feeling embarrassed about the topic. When he turned back to look at Tweek who was a little to quiet for his comfort, he saw him jerk and wink again. “There! You just did it!” Craig pointed, stopping in his tracks.

Tweek stopped too, and then everything instantly clicked, it was as if someone had switched on a light in his head. Then, he began laughing uncontrollably, Craig shifted uncomfortably, pinching and tugging on a single string from his chullo. “Y-You think—When I twitch, I’m winking at you?” He laughed, grinning widely, his crooked and coffee-stained teeth on full display that he’d normally be insecure of but this situation was far to humorous to worry about it.

Craigs face became beat red, “Shit.” He cursed to himself and then turned around, his back facing Tweek as he pulled on the flaps of his hat, in hopes to be swallowed whole by it to save him the humiliation. “Aw, Craig, Don’t-don’t be embarrassed. Ngh—it’s okay! It-It’s funny!” He laughed, putting a hand on Craigs shoulder before bringing him in for a hug.

Craig buried himself into Tweeks shoulder, gripping onto his olive-green button up tightly. “It’s not funny to me.” Craig said, muffled by the fabric he was buried in. “I’m—agh—sorry, I’ll—I’ll stop.” Tweek snickered one last time, it subsiding into a smile as he felt Craigs tight squeeze slowly ease into a soft hug.

They both broke apart, Craig now too embarrassed to look Tweek in the eye. Tweek brought a hand up to cup the side of Craigs face, encouraging him to make eye contact and when he did, Tweek grinned ear to ear before purposefully winking at the noirette.

“Fuck you!” he scoffed, playfully pushing Tweek away from him and then continuing the walk to Tweeks house. Tweek laughed as he regained his balance and quickly ran after Craig.

Tweek was feeling a lot better now.
