'I want to bring my brother back as the last of the clan and kill the true culprit because I don't believe in Itachi's guilt.'
That's what Sasuke wanted to say in this AU. He also strove for the Force, just as eager for his brother, but only to find out what exactly happened. Moreover, he has a certain suspicion of who could force Itachi to massacre and how he was blackmailed.
That is why the meeting of the brothers, even if it ends in the same way, but Sasuke is not going to leave his brother to his death. After treating him and himself a little, Sasuke runs away to the country of Iron, hoping to hide there from any pursuers. I also like the idea that Kisame was in the know and covered for the Uchiha brothers, letting them get away.
In a distant secluded village in the country of Iron, Sasuke finds refuge. Of course, the brothers are not welcome there, but as long as they respect the traditions of the village, they can stay there. And yes. The Land of Iron is pretty much the world where Demon Slayer takes place.
After Itachi squeezed everything he could out of his body, he is blind and at first constantly sick. Sasuke tries to be around, so he chooses pottery as his job. The villagers don't trust him, so a 'safe' activity is the way to go. Little by little, the Uchiha brothers are rubbing themselves to new conditions and acquaintances, and Itachi is getting better. Sasuke starts to help the blacksmith - his fiery chakra is very handy.
Since Sasuke does not join Akatsuki, events in the world shift, the Fourth Shinobi World War is postponed.
I also have a scene in my mind where the Uchiha brothers are found by Team Seven. Village men return from the mountains with firewood, and Sasuke is no exception. Several years have passed, he changed the blacksmith and became part of the village. Team Seven sees him running down a snowy slope with a wicker basket on his back.
I also like the idea that Itachi tries to stay as far away from his past as possible. Therefore, he is not even outraged when his name is shortened to "Tachi".
