Forget I said anything

Summary:

"Go with you to where? You aren't trying to do something with me are you Danheng?" Caelus smirks, he's clearly insinuating something with that tone of his, but he's just teasing Danheng as a joke again.

He sighed, not bothering to answer the question that he's teasing him with. Caelus is... Difficult to get along with, but everyone seems to love him. He doesn't understand why, he's not that great of a person in his opinion, he's just a troublemaker.

Short version:

Danheng really doesn't like Caelus. By really, he almost wants to strangle his neck due to how annoying he is. But, he's great at holding himself back or he's a total masochist, maybe Caelus even conditioned him into one?

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Notes:

Hello~

I have so many unpolished Danheng x Caelus self indulgent fics written, I just never posted them or decided to polish them up.

And I decided, I'll finally do it! Because my brain is rotting, I have no idea what else to post and write.

Hope you enjoy it!~
:)

I hope it isn't confusing reading this, I had a hard time deciding if I should just use their names or leave it out- it was written mainly in 3rd person with Danheng's POV.

Chapter Text

"... What're you up to this time Caelus?" Danheng looks incredibly unamused saying this as he stares at Caelus. He's here to cause trouble again, isn't he? Even if he isn't, he attracts trouble like a magnet, he shouldn't be left alone.

God knows how bad Caelus's troublemaking got so out of hand, it even reached to Danheng's teacher who asked him specifically to watch over Caelus for some reason. His teacher should have known he hates Caelus's guts when he tried to talk himself out of it.

He's not a quitter, so he'll do his job properly. Why settle for bare minimum when you can do your best and get reprimanded for doing a bad job still? Totally not a jab at his teacher.

"Hmm? What are you trying to say?" Caelus seemingly looks confused at Danheng, but he could clearly see his golden eyes glimmering when he looks out the window. Wait a minute... He's not going to do what he thinks he is, is he?

"It doesn't matter, just... Come with me." He's quite annoyed with Caelus avoiding his question, but that confirmed it. He wanted to escape again, or maybe do something even more dangerous than jumping out the window, like experimenting with dangerous spells or going out into the forbidden forest.

Though, that's easier said than done with Caelus, isn't it? Danheng can't keep an eye on him for a minute without something happening. His teacher must have had a really hard time with Caelus.

He grabs onto Caelus's shoulder without much of a thought and starts dragging him downstairs to the main entrance.

"Hey, just where are you taking me? Can't you at least tell me?" Caelus just looks curiously at Danheng, not even trying to get out of his grasp as he continues to drag him.

"To your teacher's office." He doesn't stop dragging him, he was probably thinking of doing something irresponsible again. Why is it always his problem to deal with... He's not even his roommate or his friend for that matter.

He's not a people person and isn't very fond of talking to others. He still hasn't gotten used to living with people he doesn't know and prefers to be alone most of the time, so how the hell did he get asked specifically to watch over Caelus? It was rather obvious everyone in the academy knew he wasn't social at all, the teachers shouldn't be any different.

"My teacher? All this time you've been with me Danheng, yet you still don't know I don't have a personal teacher..." Caelus's tone sounds rather disappointed, why was he disappointed? Because Danheng doesn't know a lot about him? But he quickly recovers.

He pauses, and looks at Caelus in surprise.

"You don't have a personal teacher? But... Aren't you a student here? All students are appointed a teacher after they've successfully entered." He looks confused and starts questioning everything he knows about the other students here.

Maybe Caelus has a teacher, but he just doesn't want to admit it for some reason... There isn't another explanation that seems plausible. All the teachers were asked to oversee their assigned students, and he wasn't told anything about Caelus not having a teacher.

Caelus ponders before speaking up again. "Ah, that's because I'm a special case or whatever they call it, uh, it's because I can't use magic."

"You can't use magic... Then what in the world are you doing here?" He stops dragging him, his confusion turning into curiosity. If he can't use magic, then why is he in the school? There has to be some reason.

"Hm... It sounds fun and interesting! Besides, I'm still attending here even if I can't use magic, you can ask the headmaster about it!" Caelus's reasoning and logic was... Incredibly simple and stupid, sounds like something Caelus would definitely do, alright. Just because it's fun and interesting.

He's not in the mood to argue with Caelus, and even if he tried he most likely would just dismiss him, so he just sighs. "... Sure, we'll ask the headmaster. Follow me."

He started walking to the headmaster's office again, dragging Caelus along still. He wonders what the headmaster would say.

Throughout this whole thing, Danheng's mind has been filled with much curiosity and questions, but they're soon out of the headmaster's office, before he could even ask more questions. Maybe it was for the best, he shouldn't bother the headmaster with too much questions, he us a busy man after all.

Caelus crosses his arms, looking annoyed at Danheng for doubting him. "See? I told you, I wasn't lying."

"So you really don't have a personal teacher... And the headmaster gives you special classes to keep up with the regular school curriculum? I never knew that..." He was still shocked at the fact that Caelus doesn't have a teacher. It's also hard to imagine Caelus studying for any classes... He's so different from all the students in the academy.

"I see, but I guess we should go back to the dorms now." He continues to drag Caelus, this time walking in the direction to the dorms.

"Hey, hey, stop taking me to wherever you're going, I have someone I'm going to hang out with you know!" Caelus pouts, clearly annoyed with Danheng dragging him around like a bag. He also has things he has to do!

He stops, letting go of Caelus.

"And who's that? I know you don't have any friends." Saying this, he thinks his comment might sound harsh, but it's true, all Caelus has done since day one was cause trouble and make a scene wherever he goes.

If Caelus has a friend, it probably wasn't a good idea for him to just suddenly go out. It'd probably bring trouble to that friend as well.

"You're the one who doesn't have any friends. You already know how popular I am in the entire academy, I can easily find someone to hang out with." Caelus continues crossing his arms, clearly annoyed with him.

"I know you have a lot of people who like you, but they're not your friends." He says it like it's a fact, and maybe it is in his eyes.

"I still have to make sure that you don't go and do something dangerous. You're trouble, but I'm not allowed to let bad things happen to you." He says that with a hint of seriousness in his voice, trying to get Caelus to take it seriously.

"Sure, sure thanks personal bodyguard of mine." Caelus rolls his eyes, but his face lights up again, it doesn't seem like a good sign to him.

"Still, I'm going to hang out with him, I guess you can... Come along I guess." His face literally just says 'I have a brilliant idea' should he seriously go along with this...?

He sighs, not surprised by his response. "Alright, fine... Who is it you're going to be hanging out with?" He's actually curious who Caelus would be hanging out with.

In a way, he doesn't mind going with Caelus, it'll at least prevent him from causing any trouble. Maybe he should try to get along with him too, it'll at least make handling him much easier, though he's unlikely to ever be his friend.

"Well, It's Gepard! Surprised?" The way Caelus said Gepard's name was rather friendly, he sounds quite happy too, he's never seen such a tone or reaction coming from him. It might be because they both don't really like each other.

Gepard... Isn't he literally a member of the student council? He's a top student with a very righteous personality, and he's hanging out with the troublemaker Caelus?

"Gepard... Why would he even be hanging out with you? He's... A very serious person and a top student." He can't imagine how his interactions with Caelus will go. Most likely they'll clash in opinions and personality, it might be hilarious to watch. On the other hand, maybe this will improve their relationship... But it's still hard to see why Gepard would want to hang out with Caelus all of sudden.

"What're you trying to say? Gepard and I are best buddies!" Caelus feels very offended. Again, He never expected this reaction from Caelus, he's seeing quite a lot of new reactions from him. He never takes him seriously, but why is it different when it comes to Gepard?

"I'm not trying to say anything... I'm just saying that you're very different from each other and it's strange to see you hang out together. He doesn't really seem like the kind of person... Who'd be friends with you." That was definitely harsh of him to say, but he wanted to see Caelus's reaction to it.

"Wow, wooow. You're just trying to hurt my feelings because you don't like me, is that it? Don't bring Gepard into this then." Caelus goes back to being annoyed with him, even rolling his eyes again.

He sighs, it seems he struck a nerve with that last comment. "Forget I said anything, I'm sorry... Let's just go see him."

He might as well go and see the top student and the troublemaker together. They're most likely going to clash in opinions, and he wants to witness that.

"Well, apologies accepted. You should be glad I'm not one to hold grudge." Caelus is being cheeky again and jokes around with him, although he's still crossing his arms. Maybe it wasn't that big of a deal.

They ended up going to the nearby town, Gepard the golden boy was surprisingly there waiting for Caelus at the fountain.

"Gepard!" Caelus smiles incredibly happily as he runs up to Gepard, he looks excited to see him. He never expected this reaction from him. Caelus's smile is rather pleasant and cute... Coming from him at least, except he's never going to be like this when he's with Danheng.

Gepard, much to Danheng's surprise, smiles when he sees Caelus as well. They look happy to see each other, maybe they really are friends.

He's both surprised and annoyed at Caelus's reaction towards Gepard... It feels like a punch to the gut, honestly. To know that Caelus can be kind to someone other than himself feels a bit... Hurtful if he's being honest with himself.

He's also surprised to see the two of them smiling towards each other like this. Are they really friends? And if they are, for how long?

"Huh... I must admit. I didn't think you two were friends." He feels a bit awkward for doubting Caelus twice, and it all turned out Caelus was correct.

"Yeah? You can eat your words now Danheng." Caelus turns back to look at him. Going back to the same annoying Caelus he always knew.

He stays silent, not knowing how to respond or feel in this situation. It definitely hurts to know that Caelus is capable of being a nice person, but he just can't seem to be nice to him, just how did they ended up here?

He tries to shrug off the feeling and tries to make a small joke to lighten his mood. "... That means we're gonna be friends, right Caelus?"

"... No way! You're too mean for my liking." Caelus sticks his tongue out as he says that. Is he joking or being serious? It's way too hard to tell with him.

That was a clear answer, he's definitely not joking. He sighs, he thought he'll try to be nice... But he seems to be immune to Caelus.

"You just can't be nice to anyone but Gepard, can you?" He says that, sounding a bit annoyed. He's already being left out in this conversation and it doesn't seem like it bothers Caelus.

Gepard watches the whole thing without saying anything, he must have felt too awkward to chime in on what they're saying.
