Chapter 1 This Beautifully Flawed World
Aaron awoke to an unfamiliar wooden ceiling.
He stared intently at the wooden ceiling, before slowly shifting his focus around himself. Everything around him seemed foreign, he lost his calm state as he immediately sprang to his feet. Being Kidnapped was something he never thought he would experience, heck he was just a university student with a pretty average family why in gods name would anyone try to kidnap him there was nothing to gain.
Rushing to the door he quickly turned the knob, but the expected struggle did not happen as the door swung open. He froze at that, he had rushed for the door solely because of his instinct. He had not truly expected it to open, after all which kidnapper forgot to lock in their victim. Stepping into the hallway his eyes focused on the gas lamp before him before memories began to flash through his mind as well as some knowledge, the sudden rush of it all caused him to scream out in pain and collapse to the floor. After about an hour everything had come to an end.
Aaron's eyes widened as his entire person was covered in sweat, "Impossible" was the only word Aaron could mutter before he returned to the room he had just come out of. He focused on the window present and began to take slow and steady steps toward it muttering to himself over and over again. "Please be white" Arriving before the window he puled the curtains apart allowing for the crimson moonlight to shine upon him. "Oh shit", seeing the crimson moon peering through the fog Aaron accepted the fact he had transmigrated into some bloke called Festus in the crazed world of one of his favorite novels The Lord of the Mysteries.
Once he accepted this fact his mind was assaulted by various ravings, his head felt as though it would burst the very next second, his vision was obscured by things his mind could not begin to comprehend much less describe. 'The corruption' Aaron realized his thoughts were no longer his own and he had a tenuous grip on his sanity, blood emerged from his tear ducts and streaked down his face as he realized his knowledge of this beautifully flawed world was to be his downfall. He collapsed to his knees as he truly did not have the strength to remain on his feet, as his inevitable defeat drew ever closer a presence emerged to face the corruption, temporarily saving Aaron and causing him to fall unconscious.
Aaron only awoke once the rays of the sun began to caress his face, waking to the cold hard floor and the small pool of blood he was reminded that what happened before was not a dream. With such thoughts his mind drifted to the gods and outer deities who could have been responsible for his suffering when he panicked. "Shit!" Aaron cursed and prepared himself for another but of pain but was stunned when he realized there was no such thing, he could vaguely pick up murmurs but they felt extremely faint as though whispers at the far corner of an assembly hall.
He was grateful but on full alert at this, seating back on the bed on which he first awoke he decided to fist sort through the memories of the body he now possesses. The memories of one Festus, Festus was an ordinary man who owned a flower shop he had inherited from his father. With his mother dead he had no family left in this world, Aaron let out a heavy sigh thankful that Festus did not have any connections to beyonders because Aaron was in no way ready to deal with any of them any time soon.
With that sorted out he moved on to the strange knowledge that had accompanied his memories, he gained a wide grin once he realized just what the knowledge was about.
Many fans of LOTM had created their own pathways at one point, and Aaron was one of them. He had spent days working on it before posting it on to various forums, someway some how his pathway and sefirah had followed him to this world. With a loud laugh that would cause anyone present to look at Aaron warily, he attempted to access the Palace of Fallacy the sefirah associated with his pathway. After attempting various methods to access it he finally succeeded after entering a meditative state. The room faded away as he found himself in a grand palace, with towering pillars that seemed to hold up the very sky. The remainder of the place seemed to oscillate between real and illusionary.
The awe struck Aaron took in the surroundings before finally remembering his original purpose he felt for his connection with the Palace of Fallacy and began to probe its surroundings. It was surrounded by what could only be referred to as a sea of depravity at all times, confirming his theory that this sefirah was the only thing keeping him sane. Further inspection however proved this protection was only temporary.
Perhaps the sefirah should be able to protect him but it felt as though the very world itself was aiding this sea of depravity against him, with the way things were going in a few weeks at most. The depravity would have consumed him, with a sigh he returned back to reality.
