Chapter 1: Quarrel

Chapter Text

A fateful night in sumeru, all houses, buildings even the Akademya, is unbelievably peaceful, The sky, though fake, still shines brightly all across teyvat.

Silence has always been Al Haitham’s friend, Silence gives him peace of mind, this night was one of those nights where he can comfortably sit on his bed and read. But..

This silence was unfortunately disturbed by multiple steps, followed by a sudden shout, the shout was loud, almost echoing through the whole house, Al Haitham, already knowing who caused such shout immediately came downstairs, still having his calm expression. "HAITHAIM!! you won't believe what my client told me- uggh it's so irritating!!" the person shouted Loudly

"For what reason do you need to shout kaveh? Its 11 fucking pm" Haithaim replied with a cold tone.

" I just arrived from a 1 month long trip and this is how you welcome me? Rude.' kaveh replied, of course with its usual bite in the end yet still having a hint of playfulness with it.

Al Haitham was irritated by the reply he just received, This day wasn't exactly the best for Alhaitham, The piles of work he need to go through as the Grand Scribe is exhausting, Followed by the rescue of their Archon, everything was just shit for Alhaitham. And seeing his so called roommate shouting and having tantrums isn't going to lighten his mood, "this might even lead to fighting about nonsense again" he thought to himself, irritated by the thought he coldly yet with a pinch of irritation replied…

"You arrived at my house, without even knocking, then shouted so loud that it can almost break a fucking vase, and you still have the nerve to expect me to welcome you warmly? " Al Haitham snapped, though he will regret this decision later.

Kaveh's head was shook by the reply he was just given, Al Haitham was expecting a series of ear piercing shouts but all he got was a chuckle, a dry one.

He looked at Kaveh, and all he saw were pairs of ruby colored eyes with no signs of life in them, it was like the light in those crimson colored eyes was slowly dying one by one. Those were the same eyes he always saw with determination, excitement or anger yet it was like he was looking into an empty shell. There were no shouts coming from kaveh's mouth no complaints on how cold Al Haitham is,

just… a dry chuckle.

"You don't need to say that to me, i already know it i was just playing with you" he said with a laugh, That laugh would have been believable if it wasn't for the empty expression on kaveh's face,Al Haitham was confused on why is the former acting so… different?

Before he can talk, kaveh hurriedly went up to his room while saying "i need to go change now, don't worry I won't be working today, you could peacefully sleep" he said

Al Haitham was left in the front door, He then snapped back to reality and thought that it might be just because kaveh is tired, he'll come back to his high energy with his prideful self in the morning.

But he was very wrong.

Days, weeks, months even, it has been exactly 2 months and 13 days since that incident happened, if you could even call it one.

Kaveh, day by day keeps growing further and further away from Al Haitham, Al Haitham did not mind it for the first few weeks, he even thought that it was a good thing, no one would interfere with him right? No one would be barging into his room just to rant right? It would be good, it would be silent

It was good, yes, Al Haitham had a peaceful sleep and no one interfered with him when he was reading. It was finally silent, but after some weeks Al Haitham felt… weird, yeah he does love the silence but this silence is weird, it felt predatory. Ever since kaveh became his roommate, his house had never been so quiet.
