Chapter Text

"WHY THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE TO KEEP ASSIGNING ME WITH HIM?!"

The two opposites said at the same time. Pointing at each other with their claws and feathers respectively. The light in the room was divided with left and right. Where you would think it'd follow the angel you would be wrong. The demon shine brightly thanks to his fire making itself seen. While the angel silently waits in the shadows looking and observing what catches his attention.

"See gentlemen? Y-y-you're already getting along j-just s'well." The informant told them with a grin on his lopsided face. His yellow sweater contrasting every other colour in the room.

The two looked at each other for a moment, examining the changes since the last time they saw each other. Unsurprisingly there were none found from the eye. But as their gazes intertwined the change became visible, one's eyes shone brightly almost devouring the other dim ones.

The angel scoffed as the demon smirked slightly from victory and rolled his eyes.

"W-w-well fellas, you're free to go down, as soon as the charges change and the n-nnex- necss- new order arrives." With a smile and with the wave of his hand he vanished. Taking the two up once again to wait for their departure.

"They must hate me to keep pairing me up with you." The angel scowled while voicing his disdain, the devil laughed at the other demeanor. He is the one who sees what's under the crust of every being. The good guys usually don't have that power. It's pretty useful in spotting liars

His smirk was wide and sharp, his teeth could rip someone apart if he simply wanted to. His horns shone with a black light against his blond locks. His wings were attached to his back. If he had the power to, he would've expanded them to annoy the other more.

"Aww, c'mon i know you're happy to be working with me! I, for example, wouldn't dream of being paired with anyone else."

The angel huffed at his words. Dismissing each one. "You should learn to lie better if you want to try and trick me," Emerald eyes started to glow as his emotions became more intensified, just like his deathly stare. "I'd think you would know it by now." Yet the soft upturn of his lips would suggest something else, unlike his eyes. The demon simply answered with his own shine and a playful grin. The angel knows him so well. The one in blue really knows about his deep hatred despite his inability to read emotions, he's so cute for caring this much. It almost stops the impish being from trying to annoy him.

Almost.

Like a viper he jumped the other on his back, entrapping him in a hug.

Maybe at the start the white-winged being would've shoved him in the walls without a second thought, and killed him with his weapon. But right now? After all this time? For a simple hug? He just shuffles his feathers enough to make the tricky being fall on his ass.

"Nggggh- No need to be so mean you know? I get that you missed me, but that's no reason to try and bring me to my knees already." Yet he didn't get up. The demon simply accommodated on the ground. "Didn't you have enough from last time?" His voice became sweeter than honey trying to get a rise out of the other. And while the angel's face didn't change a single bit, his emotions say otherwise. He was disgusted. But he was also flustered from the insinuation.

"C'mon Craaig, you didn't say anything nice to me all this time, I'm nnggh- I'm sorry i made you wait so much to see me again, you know i didn't mean for that to happen." The demon purred.

"You should worry about overcharging," Craig finally gave up his indifference. He lowered his body making them get face to face. "I hear those noises you're making, you know." That comforting light blue from his bulbs was starting to emanate, becoming duller and duller.

"You won't be able to kill anyone down there." Their colour was starting to get a darker shade, icy. A genuine sadistic smile appeared on his forever bored face. "I truly wonder what's gonna happen if you can't release that energy any other way."

It was as if he was getting hypnotized… The devils lakey mirrored the saviour servant's grin. Oh, only if he could get hypnotized, maybe this would be a little more fun.

"And yet eek- every time you manage to surprise me Craig." He carelessy touched the other cheek trying to see deeper into his soul. Obviously to no avail. As he was swatted away like a fly.

"You know not to touch me." And like that he got back up, looking down at the sly demon still on the ground.

"Don't i get a ghh- welcome back gift? After all, I believe some time has passed since the last one." He got a glare. Good as it gets, he guesses.

"Do we know anything about this assignment? Mr. My-scary-facade-sucks." Asked the blond while leaning into the other shoulder with his arm.

"Yes, because contrary to yourself, I listen." They were still alone in the room. The capsule has not yet arrived to send them to their victim, or target, or assignment. Different names, same purpose, same ending.

"Oh I know you do, you're such a good dog after all, always listening to your lord's orders, aren't you?" Sadly for him, his bait wasn't bitten as Craig didn't even react and his emotion didn't change. "Mind sharing it with it class?"

"Yes," He made eye-contact. "I do mind."

At that exact moment their vessel arrived. They stepped in, with Tweek still now attached to Craig's arm. If someone saw them they would assume the two were a couple.

____

"This is our fucking ack- assignment?" The demon said clearly baffled while the angel was trying to poke the girl out of boredom.

"Yep."

"What the fuck could happen to a shitty ten year old that we'rrrrggg- needed to balance her choices?!"

The angel was now in front of him. Showing off how tall he is compared to the demon who can't fly. Even in their miniature statures he can't have a single win, can he? Craig's features are as impassive as ever while he talked. "Do you remember the last times we were assigned to a girl this age what happened or did your memory get whipped too along with your wit?"

The demon stopped complaining and tried to search for that memory. Except he came out blank. Confusion prickled his soul, along with the smug interest that came off the other.

So he tried to search for the memory in the other eyes. Craig held his gaze. Ah, right, it doesn't work with him. He must've… forgot… huh, odd.

He heard a whisper come from his counterpart. But didn't quite understand what was said. But the angel felt… satisfied??

They heard the girl start to wake up. So they got in position to greet her. Except in that moment, right after the girl saw them she started to squeal in excitement.

Tweek was confused, Craig was excited- no wait … what's? What's that feeling? He's positive he never felt it from the other…

As the girl regained her sense she took her sketchbook near her bed and a pencil. It took less than a minute before she showed them.

It was a drawing, with "forbidden lovers" written above. There were two badly drawn figures kissing. One had horns and a tail. The other had wings and an aureola. It was clear who they were supposed to be if that said anything.

What the fuck is this shit? What the actual fuck is happening? He was horrified by such assumption.

Craig felt triumphant, and flustered, but victorious first.

"Still don't remember anything?" With that smug look on his face he watched the demon like a hawk.

Then a memory surfaced.

"Uggghh- do they have to keep sending me on missions with you out of everyone?" The angel was much younger and slouching from his undesired situation.

"And i thought angels were supposed to be nice." The demon with no horns rolled his eyes while calling out the other. "C'mon it's just another gghh- another shitty mission. We do this, then we- gah- we get out of- ngh- each others way." Usually the demon was more trouble-searching. More tricky than that. But he had a bad day. And it was visible from his little mishaps in his speech. The angel took notice but stayed silent on this regard.

Tweek heard shuffling and saw their vessel had arrived. He quickly followed behind the angel. When it closed they were instantly their miniature selves, in front of a girl. She was wide awake. She screamed. An escape attempt to get farther from them failed thanks to the wall.

The only sound in the dark coloreless room for a while was the little girl's heavy breathing. Usually Tweek would start the introduction, but no sound came from the shortest of the two so the room was engulfed by silence. A terrifying silence for the human.

Craig would keep his… concern for the other under wraps and he doesn't really give a shit about introductions.

After a minute of just staying there looking at each other and Tweek devouring the fear of the human just to feel a little better. The girl moved slightly towards them, examining and looking closely. "...Are you a figment of my imagination?"

Craig simply gave her a middle finger. A jump came from the sudden movement as her eyes widened. Tweek lips curved upwards, still feeding from the girl's scare. He was twitching a lot. He was also tired, without noticing he leaned on Craig. The angel let him, considering the silk was in the way and there would be no way to enter his mind.

The human narrowed her eyes. "...are you two partners?"

They technically are for this mission. So they stayed in silence.

She stayed in silence for a full minute before smiling, probably concluding she was in no danger.

Before she spoke. "Awww, you two are so cute! I wish I had a boyfriend. Maybe that's why I'm imagining you."

At that they both jumped away. The demon gave a startled "WHAT?!" while the angel spoke for the first time "What the fuck?!"

"Oh no need to be embarrassed! I am not against you! Two of my acquaintances are both girls and they feel for each other! I would never shame your people!"

Both of the two were disgusted as she kept talking. Tweek especially started glitching more, his and Craig's horror making him almost puke, if demons even can do that.

"Look- to- to show you that I am not contrary to you two being… that. I'll… I'll draw you something! To show that I have faith the higher one would never create something he doesn't wish to exist. Just grant me a moment."

"Jesus fuckingngh- christ." "Don't say his name in vain." "GAH- OH MY FUCKINGGOD."

He gripped his hair while screaming. Craig had: disappointment, desperation and anger leaking from his soul. His face wasn't giving anything other than disgust.

As they slightly calmed down the girl faced them again showing a high quality drawing of them kissing.

"GHH- Oh jesus christ oh my god OH MY FUCKING NGGG- WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. WHAT IS- UURGGG- i have to go- i have to- NGGH-" As he was beginning to phase through the wall as he couldn't go back Craig screamed.

"Tweek don't leave me here!" He was walking closer to the demon. Probably to stop him if his phrase said anything.

"NOW YOU WANT ME TO FUCKING STAY???" He was flabbergasted, strababonked, incredulous, awestriken, gobsmacked, because NOW he's not being a bitch?! Right when he's about to bow over and vomit??

"I MEANT DONT LEAVE ME HERE WITH HER." And like that Craig took his hand bare and teleported them to a park. He let go before Tweek could've even thought to check his soul for good.

Demons are fucking stupid. It's a torture in itself to exist. They can't have too much fear in their system or they overcharge and begin to be paranoiac and jumpy to expel all that energy in excess. But if they're left to starve with no terror to feel? They are in a slurred state where they can't understand anything. They begin to create their own fear. They start seeing hallucinations of all kinds. And they feed off their own traumas in a sick and Twisted fate.

And Tweek is fairly often found in a state of panic from too much energy in his body. Never less though.

Craig paced around for a while in anger, keeping to feed with all his underlying fears. Tweek felt it all and it was making him twist and twitch with more violence.

Until he stopped.

The angel sits down beside Tweek who is leaning on a little stair. Still being miniature makes it a wall. "Sensing other emotions sometimes isn't all this good, it seems to be huh?"

Tweek who was still hyperventilating couldn't answer, if he had the power to he would've said "Why don't you ask your white-winged friends?" He could feel the sorrow and sadness from Craigs heart, yet it didn't register, only helping making his panic worsen.

But it was like Craig read his mind. "The angels who can sense emotions see us others as freaks, and recently more of them are able to do so. So I don't know where that leaves me. I was never well liked and now even less." Tweek almost feels bad if it wasn't for the current lack of air in his nonexistent, fucking, lungs.

"But the fact that freaks them out is that i don't seem to mind. They don't like it. Because one thing is acting brutal and cruel, another is feeling brutal and cruel."He truly does appreciate the negative feelings, and from an angel? Top chef, magnific. But not really when he's about to fucking die because there was too much of it around in the first place.

"You- you're not a- a bad guy." He was struggling to breathe. Almost choking. "I- can senseyouremotions- you're, you're not bad- or- or brutal- or" He gasped for air, feeling his lungs and skin burn alive. "God fucking-"

He was choking. He was going to die he was-

A hand touched his, and he calmed down immediately. That feeling of calmness returned. The one that is rumored to only exist when demons kill someone. It's a deep sense of security and calmness given directly to him. He looked up to see the normal emerald eyes be of a bright blue colour. He felt… happy. The idea to enter the other soul and take a peek once again got forgotten thanks to his mind swimming through the clouds.

When his hand got let go of. He didn't feel calm anymore, but his mind wasn't in a state of pain and panic either. That ethereal feeling limgered in his mind. They got back to the girls room. She was sleeping. He looked at Craig with admiration, it was the first time he saw the other ability, it was the first time the angel was nice to him.

"Since when can you do that?"

"Since when can you be bearable?"

"HOLY FUCK!! Did I really forget all that?! So are we friends Craig?!" He felt excitement prickle his insides.

The angel simply gave an hum of affirmation. The human was just making drawings of them. Now with his memory back it wasn't as jarring as the first time. Still surprising, and he's still curious about some of Craig's emotions. But now it's better.

The human turned to them and let them see their masterpiece. It was them kissing while hugging in the sky. With the moon as background. He must admit, it is a good drawing.

Craig is smiling while looking out the window. He suddenly wonders what kissing and angel would be like. Would it be soft? Ethereal? In a flash a feeling of soft lips against his, passed by. What is he thinking?

"Wait. If we're friends why didn't you say so at the Mixed Grounds?" Tweek asked. His confusion very evident.

The angel lifted an eyebrow, the demon noticed a phantom smile with his eyes. "Can't I have my own fun once in a while? Tweek that forgets something? It's a once in a lifetime chance, am I wrong?" Deaths are pretty uncommon he guesses. And he would never forget anything while being his normal self.

Tweek is unsure how he knows this, but the other wants some strawberry tea right now.

Craig put a finger on his forehead to transport the two to the top of a tree, inside with all the branches passing by one another making it a good place to jump around.

"Dude this is not the right place for a tea." He tapped his mouth shut along with the last word. He always has control of every part of his body unless it's the wings in this world. That shouldn't have happened.

"And why would you say that?" He was being observed deeply while the question was asked. He felt it. No precise emotions were coming from Craig though. "Who said anything about tea?"

And… he shouldn't have that knowledge, he was ashamed for it. Too embarrassed to find any rebuttal, the tree was left in silence. With only the occasional stomp from Craig, the bastard still being able to fly, going from a branch to another.

"How's heaven?"

"How's hell?" Craig spit the question right back.

"That's not fair dude, I asked first." He could feel waves of amusement fall off the other.

"Since when does a demon play fair?

"Since when does an angel play dirty?"

As they looked at each other and laughed it started raining. Another memory came back.

They set up a little routine. No one yet knew they were friends. But every night when they would be working together and when their human would be asleep, they'd meet back up to watch a movie. Usually demons can't stay alone with their subject. They're too volatile and gruesome. An angel has to stay and supervise. Which is the same reason their wings and powers are mostly blocked but the observer one aren't.

Yet Craig now trusted him enough to let him do his job when the other was too exhausted and just wanted to chill. Tweek granted his wish, happy enough that someone trusted him.

"Hey Craig are you ready for movie ni-" He saw the green eyed creature look up to him with crystallized tears on his cheeks. He tried to search for the other emotions, but none were found.

The realization hit him hard. Craig can block his powers here.

He shook it off, the boy tried wiping his tears away. To no avail though. New ones simply kept forming. The tears of an angel were a light aquamarine when not yet crystallized.

The demon shuffled closer on the couch. "The girl we had today was disappointed she couldn't meet an angel. When i told her about you, she thought you were cool. She looked at the old drawings that got passed on, of us, to try and imagine how you could've been." Shooting a glance at Craig told him the angel was hearing and looking with his icy eyes. He was still trying to wipe his tears away.

"You know, there is an old tale that nghh- that said the tears of angels were the rain that fed the crops, that kept the villages alive. Some people still say it now." He got closer to the other, starting a hug now that his powers didn't work. Taking long enough that if Craig didn't want it, he could've backed off.

"You shouldn't be ashamed of bringing life where you go, you shouldn't be ashamed of being yourself, just let it out." And like that the first hiccup was heard. The pandora box got opened. He felt all that guilt, and all that sadness and all that love getting thrown at him as Craig sobbed in his arms.

Tweek felt loved. He felt loved for the first time in forever. He was starting to shake more from the fear mixed with the others feelings. But he felt loved. And no one will take it away from him, at least for a little while, even if it wasn't for him, even if that love isn't for him to look at. A burning tear slid down his face.

He almost let go by the overwhelming feeling drowning him.

Almost. He wouldn't even think of letting go until his angel counterpart was ok.

Craig was grinning at him. He grinned back. An understanding of why Heaven is said to be the home of the pure. He would give up everything for that smile.

When he suddenly turned around to jump on another branch Tweek simply enjoyed the moment. The rain slightly splashing down besides him. Sometimes he wants to go to earth with his real physical body. Just to feel the rain.

Tweek spoke up. "Care to watch a film?" He looked at Craig for a reaction and was not disappointed when his eyes started to glow of a brighter colour. It made his dead heart jump around again.

"It would be my pleasure." The other said flying towards him to teleport both of them to that now-forgotten place.

It was now ruined and destroyed. But centuries ago it was well kept. There weren't any tvs at those times but they watched the Drama happening in the castles.

But today? Right now? Right now they're sitting on the old ruined couch while watching Spy Kids. All three movies. For the rest of the day.

Tweek couldn't even pay attention to the films as he was engulfed by that feeling of calmness once again.

He forgot to check Craig's soul, again.
