    "No matter what, when you need me, I will be there." Dream met his gaze and held it a second too long. "I will always be there."

    George blinked back tears and nodded, trying to remember how to breathe as Dream moved closer to him.

    Dream slotted himself in between George's legs, his waist brushing against his thighs as he reached forward to scrub the cut. George flinched but stayed still as Dream cleaned the wound. When he pulled away, he asked, "Are you okay?"

    "Would be better if you held my hand," George joked, and some of the tension dissolved.

    And he would never admit it, but he meant every single word.
