Work Text:
After Aziraphale left Crowley for heaven, Muriel who's now been left the bookshop finds something that might reunite the broken lovers.
———————————————————————––––––––
Aziraphale watched as the elevator rose, white light flashing by his eyes as he went up.
He felt a bit weird.. but chalked it up to being.. kissed.
He tried to ignore it but it slithered and burrowed into his mind no matter how hard he tried not to think about it.
Crowley, he put his glasses on. In his- well it isn't really his anymore.. but in the bookshop.
And his lips– the elevator dinged.
"Right let's go Aziraphale." The metatron said and walked out with Aziraphale in tow.
Aziraphale looked at the blinding white that his eyes certainly did not miss.
"T-there really is no colour huh?" He started to miss his cosy bookshop, and his cozy snake..
"Angels don't need colour Aziraphale" He scoffed like it was dumb to even question it.
"Right sorry metatron"
"I'm sorry that. Crawley. Didn't take up on your offer" He said.
"Oh.. i-its fine.. I.. its his decision.." Aziraphale stuttered still processing everything.
"Atleast he won't bother you anymore" metatron smiled.
"Oh he never bothered me.. never really annoyed me, except from when he threatened to ruin my books" Aziraphale giggled thinking of their petty argument about the Bentley.
"I see." Metatron looked forward.
"Do you love him?" Metatron asked still staring forward.
Aziraphale very nearly fell flat on his face, sputtering and body beet red "w-well I mean i-its mnn.. he uhm.. it'd uhnnn listen! Uhhhhahaha?"
"Mm." Metatron deadpanned at his honestly gayass display of chaos.
"Right im getting bored of dealing with you." Metatron moved his hand up and down.
"Haha.. what-" Aziraphale fainted.
———————————————————————––––––––
Muriel opened the door to the bookshop, it looked as good and cozy as ever.
"Hello?" They called out though nobody replied.
They laughed a little "its weird being alone here.." reminded them a little of their heaven desk.
So muriel explored, looked around I mean if this was gonna be where they were going to stay they need to know where everything is!
Looking at the massive collection of books, and it was alot! Hopefully they could just miracle the books to not die.
Aziraphale would kill them if he found out anythings happened to his precious books.
Anyways he's not here to punish muriel yet! So they'll keep their life for now!
As muriel was walking around they felt the floor move under them, like it's unstable.
They looked down to see a rug covering the unstable surface "Oooo! What are you hiding Mr rug?"
Muriel sat down and moved the rug out the way and was met with a trapdoor.
"A small door!" Muriel moved their hands like they saw Aziraphale do one time while talking about a "Clue" whatever that is.
They pulled the handle and with a yank it flew open and inside lay one book: The nice and accurate prophecies of Agnes Nutter.
Angus nutter.. where has muriel heard that before.
Oh right! When Aziraphale and Crowley were being very weird and slurring their words, they talked about a Agnes Nutter and lots of other stuff, think it was the past.
Muriel opened the book and skimmed through the pages, landing on one that intrigued them.
Prophesy 6089: At which hour a heart breaks, one half wilt maketh those folk whole again 'r death shall cometh.
"R death shall cometh? ..DEATH?!" Muriel panicked.
"Uuuhh okay! T-the uhm hearts? Then make them whole????" Muriel looked for a phone.
"Ah here it is!" They sat at the seat, an old phone with a notebook next to it with a number written on it and a name Crowley.
So muriel rang the number.
———————————————————————–––––––
Crowley looked down to his phone, Angel. He very nearly crashed his Bentley.
"Angel!" He said in a hopeful tone.
"Oh uhm sorry! It's not Aziraphale!" Muriels voice said from the phone.
Oh.
Crowley slumped against his car seat, "what do you want?" He snapped.
"W-well I found something in.. Well my bookshop now!" Muriel giggled.
"Spit it out muriel." Crowley sighed.
"Ah right! Uhm you know the prophecies of Agnes Nutter?"
"Yeah yeah that uhm.. asthma girl? Whatever her name was" Crowley remembered the face just couldn't stick the name on it.
"Well I found a prophesy and I'm a bit worried!" Muriel tried to calm down, they were failing.
"Okay, okay chill what is it kid?"
"Right it says," muriel opens the book back up "At which hour a heart breaks one half wilt maketh those folk whole again 'r death shall cometh"
Crowley stopped driving.
"Why did you call me?" Crowley sighed.
"Well you and Aziraphale got into a argument then attacked each other with your mouths! And then he went away" Muriel explained.
"W-well" Crowley stuttered "i-its not ehh.. it-Well uhm DO YOU WANT ME TO COME HELP OR SOMETHING?" He yelled ignoring his feelings.
"Please do! I don't want anyone dying" Muriel said.
"Right fine whatever I'm coming to you, his- the bookshop right?" He started back up his Bentley and drove off to the bookshop.
"Yup! See you there" Muriel smiled and hung up.
Lesi, Crowleys name for his Bentley drove fast, faster than she had driven from the bookshop before.
Well technically it was ang- Aziraphales name for it, but it just kinda caught on.
Crowley opened the door of his Bentley and made his way over to that accursed bookshop.
Crowley opened the door and went in "I'm back. I guess.."
Muriel shoved the book into his chest "here! If you wanna look at it closer.."
Crowley opened the book and stared at the ink on the page.
"D-do you think it's talking about you two?"
"How so?" Crowley looked up.
"Well he went away! So you need to go get him!" Muriel explained.
Crowley slammed the book shut "He's made it very clear he doesn't want me following him."
"What?! But he likes you!" Muriel scoffed "alot!"
"He doesn't." Crowley walked past them "Trust me I know." He stared at a space near the pillar.
"Can't you just sneak in to check?!" Muriel followed him.
"Rulebreaking? That's not like you" Crowley joked, turning around to look at them.
"Please.. just this once and if nothing wrong we can go back.." They looked up at crowley with full teary eyed puppy dog look.
Crowleys mind supplied him with that night in the shop in 1941 with Aziraphale begging him to help him with a magic act.
"F-fine.." He sighed, "are you sure you aren't related to Aziraphale?"
"What do you mean?" Muriels head tilted like a confused puppy.
"Nothing.. nothing" Crowley looked around the bookshop quickly, making sure everything's in its place.
"Right let's go" He shooed them out the shop and moved the sign to [super closed!]
"Should I arrest you?" They got to the elevator.
"I mean if u wanna" Crowley said.
"Uh right blah blah blah blah" Muriel smiled.
Crowley cracked a small smile "blah blah blah you got it"
They both stepped into the elevator crowley taking on his "angel" disguise.
"Ready?" He leaned on the wall the cold seeping into him.
Muriel nodded and started the elevator.
Crowley watched as the elevator rose, white light flashing by his eyes every few seconds, thankful he still has his sunglasses on.
After a while the elevator dinged, they both walked out.
"Where do you think he'll be? Probably in his big dumb office" Crowley leaned on Muriel.
"We can start there yeah" They walked and crowley followed.
And they came apon a office, "I was joking about the office but damn" Crowley sat on the table "I can't see how Aziraphale likes this stuff.."
"How so?" Muriel sat next to him.
"Well he's always liked beige and brown and definitely yellow! Never really full white though.. normally like a off-white colour if he ever really needed anything"
"Well we'll get to the bottom of th-" Muriel was talking but got cut off with a scream.
A horrifying scream that came from a door at the back of his office, one that was from Aziraphale. Crowley could recognise the tone.
They both rushed off the table and to the door ominous in its full white coverage.
"Is that..?" Muriel whispered looking to crolwey and he nodded "Definitely.."
"One.. two.." Crowley bursted through the door, to be met with Aziraphales eyes filled with terror.
No it wasn't terror anymore.. it was something different.. something new.
Aziraphales new eyes looked up at him, purple. Purple, Aziraphale always hated purple.
And crowley finds he does too.
"Oh Crawley. Wondered when you'd run back to him" Metatron smiled a sly grin.
"You knew... What did you do to him." Crowley growled.
"Oh nothing new. Just worked out the flaws." Metatron handed the purple eyed Aziraphale a sword, a flaming sword though not as big as his one in Eden.
"A-angel..?" Crowley slowly took a step forward.
Metatron laughed "I'm afraid your pet isn't in here anymore" He knocked on the side of Aziraphales head but Aziraphale didn't react, simply staring ahead to nothing.
"Don't touch him." Crowley gritted his teeth.
"Want to meet your precious boyfriend? Or supreme archangel." Metatron whacked the back of Aziraphales head.
"HOW DARE YOU-" Crowley leapt forward about to attack him but got stopped..
Aziraphale stared at the intruder, and protected his superior.
"A-angel?!" Crowleys hand was stopped with a flaming sword.
"Don't hurt him demon. Go back to the shadows you crawled out of." Aziraphale said though crowley suspected he wasn't in control.
Though it didn't make the words hurt less.
Crowley sometimes wondered if all Aziraphale saw him as was the demon, the evil, normally he forgets about it as his angel does some stupid stuff with a huge grin on his face.
"Aziraphale! Angel I know you can fight it!" Crowley tried to reason.
Aziraphale swung his sword at crowley, "MURIEL SWORD NOW!" Muriel quickly pulled out their sword and threw it to crowley.
He may not have shot a gun before 1941 but he knew his way around a sword, he may have gotten some lessons from angel.
Their swords clanged against each other, crowley stepped back a bit "Angel it's me! You have to remember!"
"Angel!" Clang. "Azira-" Clang.
Aziraphale pinned him to the ground.
"I'll cut your throat! That'll shut you up!" He held the sword above crowleys throat, slightly pressing on his skin.
Crowley knew he only had one chance, one chance to get through to his angel.
"You're beautiful" He smiled and moved Aziraphales hair out of his face.
His face went red "A-awhh stooppp! You're just saying that"
"There you are" Crowley softly said moving the sword from his neck.
Aziraphales eyes flickered back and forth "C-crowley.. what's happening..?"
"I need you to trust me angel." Crowley held his hand.
"Of course, you trusted me after all" Aziraphale held his hand back.
"Muriel come here!" He yelled to them as they were trying to fight off Metatron.
Muriel ran to them and hugged Aziraphale from behind "I GOT HIM!"
"This is gonna be new.." Crowley mustered both Aziraphales and his powers to teleport to the bookshop.
Just as Metatron tried to grab Muriel they all disappeared.
They all collapsed on the floor, lots of groans of pain.
"Why do I have to be on the bottom" Crowley groaned and wiggled out the pile.
He helped both of them up.
"Are you alright?" Crowley fixed his Angels hair.
"Mhm.. I.. I'm so so sorry! I shouldn't of gone! God I'm such an idiot!" Aziraphale hugged him tight, "I.. I love you Anthony J Crowley"
Crowley grinned and pat him "I think you owe me a apology dance"
Aziraphale huffed a laugh "that's all you can think about?"
"You made me do it" Crowleys eyes were filled with love.
Aziraphale noticed that crowley hadn't taken off his glasses, it wasn't as easy as Jane austen.
But they would heal.
"Whats the apology dance?" Muriel piped up.
Crowley laughed and pulled Muriel to him "come watch it" He shooed Aziraphale to the middle of the room.
Aziraphale did the apology dance "you were right, you were right, I was wrong, you were rightt" which crowley throughly enjoyed.
"I feel like one isn't enough" Crowley walked to him.
"Then I'll do them for the rest of time" Aziraphale gently kissed him.
Muriel was happy they finally weren't arguing and were finally happy.
"How about we all have a sleepover!" They suggested.
"That sounds lovely dear! And I have some spare pajamas!" Aziraphale ran upstairs to get them.
He came down with yellow pajamas in crowleys size and his own.
"Sorry Muriel I don't have any spares in your size" Aziraphale gave crowley his spare.
"How do you know my measurements?" Crowley held the pajamas up and they looked exactly like his body shape.
"U-uhhmm.. Well I spent a long time with you so I got to know it" Aziraphale blushed a bit and looked away.
"Couldn't keep your eyes off me huh?" Crowley posed.
"Mhm.."
"WAIT REALLY?!?!?!" Crowley mouth was agape.
"J-just go put your pajamas on!!" He shooed crowley away.
"Oh and here" He miracled some brown pajamas into muriels hands.
They smiled wide and hugged Aziraphale "I'm happy you're back!"
"Me too" Aziraphale patted muriel.
After they all got changed into their respective pajamas. Aziraphale and muriel started making the middle of the bookshop into a makeshift Pillow Fort, packed with all the best pillows and blankets.
Crowley sighed and shifted into his snake form, slithering around Aziraphales legs.
"Do you want a cuddle?" Aziraphale asked, both of them nodded.
Though Aziraphale meant it only for crowley he glady welcomed the second warm body.
As muriel cuddled into his side and crowley coiled around his stomach and chest.
Aziraphale smiled at this mismatched family and he'll never break his promise, he will do the apology dance for as long as his family needed.
But for now he'll just rest with his family.
And for once three nightingales sang on the yellow and black Bentley.
