Thanatos was shocked that Apollo invited him to watch the Barbie movie. Not because he was invited, but because Apollo has already watched the movie. With the Muses, Meg and her siblings (plus Lu and Herophile), the people of the Waystation, and his kids. Hell, he even managed to get Athena , of all the gods, to watch the movie with him.
He was able to get some time off and went to the theatre where they were going to see the movie. Of course Apollo dressed up for the occasion. He probably dressed up everytime he went to see the movie and it was probably different every time. Thanatos wondered how much pink shit was in his closet. Was the closet color coded? Maybe.
“Hey Thanatos, glad you could make it.” Apollo smiled. His bright clothes somehow got brighter. It was probably just Thanatos, but then again, it was Apollo. His own smile could blind an entire city.
Thanatos noticed his own attire. Unlike good old Apollo with his dress and heels, Thanatos looked more suited for Oppenhimer . Apollo seemed to be planned for this occasion, because of course.
‘I can’t ask you to change but you can put these on.” Apollo held up some pink butterfly earrings. Did he just have that or did he get them for Thanatos? He was left to speculate. Was it bad he wanted the answer that Apollo got them specifically for him? Thanatos put them on and they went into the theatre together.
Apollo ended up finishing all of his popcorn not even halfway through the movie so he and Thanatos had to share. Thanatos didn’t mind. He wasn’t going to eat it anyways, he had no idea why Apollo got one for Thanatos. Also, why was it so expensive?
Apollo also left the theatre with makeup running down his eyes. He cried. A lot, even though he already watched the movie on multiple occasions. Thanatos was a bit teary-eyed though.
They were laughing, well Apollo was, Thanatos was just smiling. Thanatos was pretty sure Apollo was stalling his way out of not returning to Olympus. Thanatos decided to indulge that.
The sun was already rising by the time Apollo decided to go back. Of course, it wasn’t Apollo doing the sun duties. It was probably Ra.
“See you later, my dear Thanatos,” Apollo smiled and then he was gone.
Thanatos stood there for a bit. Apollo called pretty much any of his loved ones, friends, siblings, and family alike, my dear. But still, the words rang in his head, circling every thought.
Well, it was time for work. Thanatos awaited for the next movie release that catches Apollo’s eyes. He hoped Apollo would invite him next time.
He took flight with the words still in his head.
