He also knew Akaza was not actually his friend.
Akaza hated him. He hated him the moment he set eyes on him and his hatred only grew the night Douma had stolen his rank from him. Well, not stolen. Douma had earned it. He’d beaten Akaza fair and square. Still, the demon hated him for it and that alone was enough to guarantee that he and Akaza would never truly be friends.
His reasons for his attempts to make a connection with Akaza were not self serving. If anything, they served Akaza. And the best way to serve Akaza…
