Jeeves had a perfect plan.
Well- technically not a perfect one. No plan or scheme can truly be perfect, not even one of Jeeves' well-known schemes can truly be perfect. But that's not the point, Jeeves has a scheme that he thinks is going to go somewhat okay at the very least and absolutely amazing at the best.
Jeeves woke up that morning feeling sick. He wondered *why* he felt sick till a cramp hit his stomach. Ah, so that's what's wrong. Jeeves was no stranger to having sudden very painful stomach aches. He had been to doctor after doctor and they were never able to help besides giving him painkillers.
No matter how much Jeeves would've rather stayed in bed and waited for the pain to either get worse or go away entirely. That simply wasn't possible. Him and Bertie had plans today. So he decided to shove all of his pain down and deal as he and Bertie went along. He at least got one small mercy, Bertie simply didn't function before about 10 AM. It was currently 7 AM and Bertie was wrapped around Jeeves, so that gave him an alright reason to stay in bed.
The time went as quick as it went slow, which doesn't make any sense but that's the only way Jeeves would be able to describe it. It felt like it had been 20 minutes and 20 hours at the same time. As the clock hit 10, Jeeves gently shook Bertie awake. Bertie awoke with a groan and he pressed his face into Jeeves' neck “Bertam” Jeeves said “You were excited for today as I recall it, you must awaken” Bertie groans again but he does lift his head up. “Would you like tea?” Jeeves asks, Bertie responses with a nod.
After Bertie has some tea and they both got ready. What they had planned for that day was a walk around a quite secluded but very beautiful park. While Bertie didn't care much for things like that, he knew Jeeves enjoyed that sort of thing and Bertie enjoyed seeing Jeeves happy. So it was a win-win.
As the day goes on and as they walk, Jeeves'stomach pain gets worse and worse. He gets paler and paler and he starts talking less and less. Bertie notices these changes and looks up at Jeeves. Now- he doesn't really look at people when they talk to him, he never liked it, and it wouldn't really be expected to look at someone as they talked while you're walking anyway. But Bertie eventually looked Jeeves way, that's when Jeeves spectacular plan starts to crumble.
“Jeeves! I say, what's the matter?” Bertie asks, suddenly stopping in his tracks. It's only now that Jeeves realizes that there were tears rolling down his face. He reached up to wipe the tears away “I shall be better directly, I am sorry” Jeeves replied, his voice thick with tears. Bertie looked at him with a sort of shocked expression “No, no! I'm not mad, Jeeves. I want to know what's wrong, I've never seen you cry before.” Bertie explains, gently grabbing onto Jeeves' arm.
Almost as soon as Bertie explained this, a gag left Jeeves' mouth. He covered his mouth with his hand as he gagged again. Bertie hurriedly put a hand on Jeeves' back, looking about as graceful as a ferret when doing so. “Is it your stomach then?” Bertie then kicked himself internally for asking Jeeves a question while he was currently gagging. Jeeves responded with a nod “Why didn't you say anything? I mean- I know you're quite stubborn, but you're crying! The pain must be pretty smart-”
Bertie kept rambling anxiously, it took until after Jeeves had stopped gagging for him to realize he was rambling “Oh- dash it, I'm sorry, Jeeves. You're over here in pain and I'm standing here going on and on! Come, let's go back home” Bertie said “But-” Jeeves was cut off “No buts! The pain will get better if you sit down- well laying down would be better, but sitting works!”
Bertie began to walk with Jeeves the opposite direction, back to the entrance of the park. Jeeves' pain would wax and wane as they walked. Sometimes it felt as if there was zero pain at all, and others the pain would be bad enough he'd tear up again. It was at these times Bertie would either squeeze Jeeves' hand or give him a nice squeeze on the shoulder, depending on how close they were to other people enjoying the park.
Once back to their flat, Bertie tried to make Jeeves lay down in bed. Usually, Jeeves wouldn't have let himself do that. But he was so tired and in so much pain at the moment he agreed to. Once Jeeves was placed securly underneath the blankets on the bed. Bertie sat down next to Jeeves, he placed a hand on Jeeves' forehead to check for a fever. “I do not have a fever” Jeeves says “This.. this has happened many times before” Bertie looks shocked “Are you trying to tell me you get stomachaches like this a lot?” He asks “They're usually not this- this bad..”
Bertie was about to ask why Jeeves would hide it. But it did make a bit of sense why he would, something this debilitating would be a reason to fire a valet, even though Bertie would never do that he could understand why Jeeves wouldn't want to tell him, and him and Jeeves hadn't been lovers for very long so this very well could've been the first time it had happened since they became lovers.
Bertie slipped into the bed with Jeeves and wrapped his arms around him, pulling him in close. They sat in silence for a bit till Bertie felt Jeeves' breath hitch, signalling that he had begun to cry again. “Is there anything that helps?” Bertie asks “I have medicine I got from my doctor, but it does not do much. That is the only medicine they can think to give me” Bertie frowned at this. He then thought of something.
“I say, have you ever tried having someone, erm- rub your stomach?” Bertie asked, a bit sheepish. Jeeves, not opposed to the idea but slightly scandalized by it, responded with a no. “Well.. it couldn't hurt to try, could it?” Bertie said with a sheepish grin. “No, it would not” replied Jeeves, giving Bertie all the confirmation he needed.
Bertie laid one of his hands gently against Jeeves' stomach, he pulled Jeeves in closer and started to rub big, gentle circles. Jeeves practically melted into the touch, him being much too exhausted to hide is enjoyment of the feeling. Bertie chuckled softly. He continued this until he heard Jeeves' soft snores. Bertie kissed Jeeves' forehead and curled up against Jeeves, closing his eyes.
