Hammock

Summary:

Sasha, Anne, and Marcy set up a hammock in their yard.

Notes:

Prompt 21 – word: hammock

Work Text:

“Aaaaand… we’re done!” Marcy says, throwing her hands up in the air as she steps backward.

Sasha grins, always delighted by Marcy’s enthusiasm (but she very rarely voices that thought because it’s fucking embarrassing). “Finally! That took way too long,” she complains.

“Aw, quit sulking, Sash,” Anne says, coming up behind her and wrapping her arm around Sasha. “It wasn’t that bad.”

Sasha just raises her eyebrows. No matter what Anne says, it was bad. It took them over an hour to simply sling a hammock between two trees in their backyard, and Sasha is still frustrated that it took three competent young adults so long to do such a simple task.

“Well, at least it’s done!” Marcy says, always so excitable. Although her giddiness makes sense, considering she was the one who got the idea for them to buy a hammock (apparently, she read a book where a character had a hammock and fell in love with the idea of the three of them having one in their yard). “We did it, guys.”

“We sure did,” Anne says, as though she didn’t get distracted by something on her phone and barely help the whole time.

“Right then…” Sasha says, smirking at her girlfriends. “I get first go, bitches!”

And she jumps into the hammock before her girlfriends have a chance. She relaxes on her back as the hammock swings, enjoying how it rocks her from side to side. Marcy is going to love this thing, she thinks.

“No fair!” Anne whines, but she grins when Sasha sticks her tongue out. Marcy laughs too, but then she and Anne share a cheeky smile that makes Sasha wary of their next move.

Sure enough, Anne and Marcy rush toward her, trying to climb into the hammock alongside her. Obviously, there isn’t enough room, and as they all shriek, the hammock tips them out. They tumble to the ground, landing in a heap of limbs.

“What the fuck?!” Sasha says, but she can’t bring herself to get mad. Instead, she just bursts out laughing.
